Atlas took a step forward, but the moment his foot moved, a strange sensation washed over him. It felt as though he were standing there and yet somehow not standing at all, like every one of his senses had suddenly left his body.
He slowly raised both hands and stared at them. They were still there, still shaped like his own hands, but they no longer looked entirely human. Coiling shadow energy crawled across his skin, wrapping around his body like countless dark veins moving beneath the surface.
Fortunately, he was already familiar with sensations like this. The feeling of losing his senses, of being trapped inside a body he could barely feel, was nothing new to him. He had gone through far harsher training than this before, enough that the strange numbness did not immediately throw him into panic.
