Mika looked up, genuinely surprised.
"Another one? Just how many coincidences are there in this story?"
Astrid's face flushed with embarrassment. "I don't know, Mika! That's just how it happened!"
She pressed on.
"This time, another call came into the police department."
"From an abandoned warehouse, there seemed to be some noise coming late into the night—the nearby residents were really annoyed by it."
"When the police went over to investigate, they were baffled to see that underneath the warehouse, there was another technological device being created."
Mika swiped on the tablet, and a new image appeared—a very advanced-looking apparatus, shaped like a pillar, covered in blue runes and wrapped with intricate wiring.
It hummed with contained energy even in the still image.
"And that's where I come into the picture, Mika!" Charlotte suddenly perked up, her earlier smugness replaced by excitement.
She leaned forward eagerly.
