The Shadow of the Past
The air in the courtyard felt thick, saturated with a cold, violet energy that made the very stones seem to tremble. Jade stared at the woman before her, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. The words "Devil Goddess" echoed in her mind, a title that felt both alien and terrifyingly familiar.
"Impossible..." Jade whispered, her voice trembling. "I won't believe it. I am just Jade. I am... I was... mortal."
Liora chuckled, a sound like silk tearing. She stepped closer, her presence overwhelming, a dark elegance that spoke of eons, not years. "Then tell me, sister," she said, her eyes gleaming with a predatory light, "how did a 'mere mortal' suddenly find the power to shatter celestial chains? How did you scatter the Heaven Army like autumn leaves?"
Jade's mind raced, flashing back to the moment Justin fell. She remembered the heat, the roar in her soul, and the way the world had turned purple.
Liora reached out, her long, sharpened nails—glinting like obsidian—grazing the silk over Jade's heart. She gave two sharp pokes directly over the pulsing violet light. "It is because your Devil Core has finally activated. The seal is broken."
Jade recoiled, stepping back until her heels hit the edge of a stone bench. "I was waiting for your arrival so desperately," Liora continued, her voice dropping to a low, melodic hum. "When I heard rumors that the High Heavens were hunting a mortal girl, I wondered. But now, seeing you myself... I can feel it. Your aura is a storm, Jade. It is magnificent."
Liora's hand shot out, her grip like a vice as she began to drag Jade toward the shadows of the garden. Jade struggled, pulling back with all her strength, but Liora's power was ancient and unyielding.
"Listen to me," Liora said, stopping abruptly and turning to face her. She closed her eyes for a moment, as if savoring a bitter memory. "I understand you have reincarnated. You have forgotten the fire and the blood. But one day, the veil will lift, and you will recall everything. I do not want to see you broken again."
Liora's expression turned glacial, her voice dropping into a register of pure, unfiltered hate. "Leave him. Leave that betrayer now, Jade. Otherwise, you will regret it until your soul withers."
Jade's breath hitched. "Who... who are you talking about?"
"Your husband," Liora hissed. "The Fox King who holds your heart in his blood-stained hands."
The shock gave Jade a sudden surge of defiance. She ripped her hand away, her purple eyes flashing. "You're dreaming! I will never leave him. Not for you, not for the Heavens, not for anyone! I love him at any cost!"
Liora rolled her eyes, a gesture of dark, sisterly annoyance. "Enough," she snapped. "If you will not listen to reason, I will have to take matters into my own hands. I won't let you stay together. I won't let him kill you twice."
With a sudden, violent swirl of violet mist, Liora vanished into the air, leaving behind only the faint scent of cold metal and ancient spice.
Jade collapsed onto the stone bench, her legs finally giving out. Her head was spinning, the world tilting on its axis. She looked down at her hands—they were still pale, but she could see the faint glow of violet veins beneath the skin.
Am I truly reincarnated? she wondered, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Am I really a Devil Goddess? Is that why I changed? Is that why Justin's life is now tied to mine?
She buried her face in her hands, the weight of a thousand years pressing down on her shoulders. She had sought the truth about her parents, but she had uncovered a mystery that spanned lifetimes. She was no longer just a bride in a Fox Realm; she was the return of a legend—and according to Liora, she was married to the man who had once been her destruction.

The Scroll of Hidden Truths
The morning sun rose over the Fox Realm not with its usual golden warmth, but with a pale, sickly light that struggled to pierce the lingering smoke of the night's devastation. The palace, once a bastion of elegance, now stood as a scarred monument to celestial cruelty.
The Weight of the Crown
Justin stood by the central royal fountain, the water now clear but the stone rim still stained with the dark, dried copper of fox blood. He stood motionless, his gaze fixed on the horizon where the funeral pyres of his soldiers were being prepared. Every flick of the flame felt like a lash against his soul.
Mike approached him, his heavy boots echoing against the cracked marble. His armor was dented, his face weary. "The census is in, Justin," Mike said, his voice thick with uncharacteristic gravity. "Our army's strength has been halved. The Heaven Realm took a heavy toll. I don't think we have the numbers to launch a counter-attack now."
Justin's fist tightened until his knuckles turned a ghostly white. The violet core in his chest—Jade's core—thrummed with a low, dangerous resonance. "No," he whispered, his voice like grinding stone. "We cannot wait. We must defeat them before they recover. We owe it to the fallen."
"We will," Mike promised, then lowered his voice. "And there is something else. I've made progress on the Ancient Scroll you brought back from the Heaven Realm. I found out how to break the seal. It's protected by a magic spell that can only be opened by a member of the Triumphant Clan."
Justin's eyes narrowed into sharp slits. "The Triumphant Clan? They were nearly wiped out centuries ago. The survivors live like refugees, scattered and broken. There are no scholars left among them who could unravel a celestial seal."
"Leave that to me," Mike said firmly. "I will find them. But Justin... why are you still obsessed with this scroll? We already know the truth. We saw it last night. Jade is the Devil Goddess. Why do you still need to break the seal?"
Justin turned, his golden eyes burning with a mystery that went deeper than current wars. "Because the Heavens are lying about why she fell in the first place, Mike. There are more truths hiding behind that seal than just her name. I need to know what they did to her."

The Burden of the Goddess
High on the royal balcony, Jade leaned against the railing, her eyes red from a lack of sleep. Below, she could see the families of the guards mourning their dead. Every sob that drifted up on the wind felt like a dagger in her heart.
Suddenly, a pair of warm arms wrapped around her from behind. Jade spun around, her heart jumping, only to see Emily. The young girl tried to offer a smile, but it withered the moment she saw the grief etched into Jade's face.
"I was only in the mortal realm for a day," Emily whispered, her voice trembling. "I came back to find... this. I am so sorry, Jade. How could the Heavens attack so many innocent people?"
Jade looked away, her voice a hollow whisper. "They didn't come for the Fox Realm, Emily. They came for me. All of this... the blood, the fire... it happened because of me."
"Don't say that," Emily urged, grabbing Jade's hands. "The Heaven people have always been enemies of the Fox Realm. They were just waiting for a reason to strike. It's not your fault."
Jade managed a weak, painful smile. "You don't have to lie to make me feel better, Emily. I know what I saw last night. I know what I became." She paused, trying to change the subject. "How is your grandmother? Did she miss you?"
"She's well," Emily said, her head dropping. "She asked about you. She said the winds were changing." Emily looked up, her eyes sparking with a sudden thought. "Jade... if you truly want to know the truth about who you are, about this power... we should go to the Truth Pond."
Jade froze. She had heard of the pond—a place where the water reflected not your face, but your soul's history.
"I heard about what happened last night," Emily continued, her voice hushed. "About the mysterious power, the purple aura. If you are reincarnation, the Pond will show you the beginning. Are you brave enough to look?"
Jade looked out at the ruins of the kingdom, the silver lines on her forehead beginning to pulse with a faint, insistent heat. "I have to know," she whispered. "I can't live in this shadow anymore."
