EPILOGUE
The drums from the celebration still echo in the distance as Ruto pushes through the heavy oak door of the King's chamber and stops.
Something is different, Ruto notes inwardly. Inside the large chamber, once decorated with dark accessories that suited the brooding mood of its owner, all of that has been removed and replaced by brighter colors. Tapestries in warm golds and deep reds now hang where shadows once gathered. It looks more heartwarming, and certainly more approachable.
And Ruto doesn't need to be told that it has everything to do with the copper haired female that rules over their King's life.
Amendiel sits by his fireplace, looking as intimidating as ever, but the darkness that always surrounded him is somewhat lacking.
His eyes look lighter… happier even, like they no longer possess the haunting weight of the world.
"My King." Ruto dips his head in greeting and Amendiel stands, approaching him with a small smile on his scarred face.
