Imogen wakes with a start, her eyes flying open.
For a moment, she's completely disoriented. Where is she? Why is everything dark?
The memories come flooding back in a rush.
The festival. She had been waiting for Kavor.
How did she fall asleep? She gazes outside the open window. The moonlight is still visible and casts rays into the cottage.
Is the hunt already over?
Imogen scrambles to her feet, her heart starting to pound with growing panic.
Kavor is nowhere to be found. The cottage is exactly as it was when she fell asleep.
Which means Faelyn never brought Kavor here. She'd never intended to.
They lied to her!
Imogen's lips tighten at this betrayal and then her eyes start to sting.
