Chapter 341 - Liu Xingzhi’s Backing

"Could she be the child of the Heavenly Dao?"

Xiao Heyun frowned in disbelief. He was the one who had crossed into this world, the one with a system. Shouldn't he be the chosen child of the Heavenly Dao?

"Host, anything is possible. This person might be blessed with immense Luck. Otherwise, how could she have snatched the inheritance right from your hands?"

Suddenly, everything seemed to make sense.

"Host, in that case, we must take her. She might become a tremendous asset to you in the future."

Even the system harbored its own greedy thoughts. Who wouldn't covet such Luck?

"Of course. With my charm, she's bound to fall for me."

Xiao Heyun's mood was riding high. So many outstanding beauties had already been swayed—Song Wanníng would be no exception.

While man and system were plotting away, Wu Qingfeng made his move again.

This time, the divine lightning fell even faster, forcing him to retreat in a rush.

When the bolts finally dissipated, his face was blackened beyond recognition.

It was real.

This woman was truly under the Heavenly Dao's protection. How could that be?

The Ancestor was still waiting for him to bring her back for execution. Now what was he supposed to do?

Wu Qingfeng felt the matter growing thorny. If he attacked Song Wanníng by force, would he end up paying a price?

Being abandoned by the Heavenly Dao, for example…

Cultivators valued Luck above all. Once Luck soured, the consequences were impossible to predict. By now, most of the cultivators from Cannibal Valley had emerged, crowding at the entrance, craning their necks to stare at Song Wanníng.

"This young lady is protected by the Heavenly Dao? Then Medicine King Sect has just kicked a steel plate."

"Exactly. Best not risk the sect's Luck over a single woman."

"You actually believe that? She must have used some trick to deceive everyone."

Reactions varied, but most found themselves believing her words.

After all, those were no ordinary thunderbolts—they were Nine Heavens Divine Lightning.

Already wavering, Wu Qingfeng grew even more agitated when he overheard the whispers. His face felt as though it had been slapped over and over.

But the Medicine King Sect's reputation could not be lost. Unwilling to give up, he lunged toward Song Wanníng once more.

Song Wanníng clicked her tongue, and another bolt of divine lightning crashed down. This time it struck the massive spiritual palm he had condensed, blasting it apart in an instant.

"Hahahaha—"

She suddenly burst out laughing, tears nearly spilling from her eyes.

"Are you humiliating yourself on purpose? Or is your Medicine King Sect always this stupid without realizing it?"

Her eyes were full of undisguised mockery, her expression practically spelling out serves you right.

The more brazen she became, the more Wu Qingfeng hesitated. At the very least, he didn't dare kill her outright—not yet.

In truth, she was far from as calm as she looked. Her meridians throbbed painfully, the backlash from channeling so much divine lightning at once churning her insides.

But she endured it all. Not the slightest weakness could be shown, or everything she'd built would collapse.

"Heh—"

Wu Qingfeng actually chuckled from sheer anger.

This wretched woman dared insult the Medicine King Sect. Did she even understand its standing in the cultivation world? Fool!

"I don't care if the Heavenly Dao protects you. You're coming back to the Medicine King Sect with me. Even if I risk being struck dead by lightning, I'll kill you if you refuse!"

His voice dripped with menace. He couldn't let anyone see even a hint of fear.

In truth, he intended to lure her back first.

"And if I say no?"

Song Wanníng tilted her head, a provocative smile curving her lips.

"What can you possibly do to me?"

"You—"

Enraged beyond reason, Wu Qingfeng ignored the lightning above and swung a palm straight at her. If it landed, she would be crippled if not dead.

But she suddenly winked at him.

Not good!

Wu Qingfeng's instincts screamed. He tried to pull back his attack, but it was already too late.

A flash of blade-light split the sky. For an instant, it felt as though the heavens went dark.

The next moment, Wu Qingfeng was hurled backward, coughing blood as he crashed to the ground.

The reversal came too fast. Everyone's heads snapped upward just in time to see a figure descend from above.

Striking features, cold and merciless expression.

Like a war god, he landed slowly, placing himself in front of Song Wanníng.

It was Liu Xingzhi.

"It's Liu Zūnzhě!"

"Heavens, it's really him!"

The Medicine King Sect cultivators paled, each trying to make themselves less noticeable.

This was a killing god—quick to slaughter at the slightest offense.

Xiao Heyun stiffened, his heart pounding.

For some reason, the sight of this man filled him with an overwhelming sense of danger. In front of Liu Xingzhi, he felt like nothing more than a clown.

After all, when his system had chosen someone as his role model to imitate, it had been Liu Xingzhi. This was the man who had once been the dream of countless female cultivators across the realm.

On the side, Xie Qinglan froze for a heartbeat. That man… looked familiar.

Like her Senior Brother, but a hundred times stronger.

The longer she stared, the more her admiration shifted, her heroic image of her Senior Brother crumbling.

Even though Xiao Heyun had done nothing, her favor toward him was already fading—and that frightened him.

The system panicked as well. Why was Xie Qinglan's affection dropping nonstop?

In truth, most of her feelings toward Xiao Heyun had been admiration, not romance.

When a better candidate appeared, that admiration shifted naturally, and Xiao Heyun's value plummeted. Unfortunately, he didn't understand this yet, his panic and anger rising in equal measure.

While the crowd was taking in Liu Xingzhi, Song Wanníng studied his back.

A blade cultivator.

A formidable one.

Her eyes lit up, a battle spirit stirring in her chest.

Would she ever get the chance to surpass him? If she did, she'd have to fight him properly.

As for Wu Qingfeng…

She cast a glance at the man still struggling to rise, cramming pills into his mouth, her lips curling in scorn.

Did he really think she'd be foolish enough to provoke him blindly?

She had sensed Liu Xingzhi's arrival long before.

Her goading of Wu Qingfeng was deliberate—just a way to borrow Liu Xingzhi's hand to vent her own anger.

Since she'd already brought back the trial tower, making use of him didn't trouble her conscience at all.

"Cough, cough—"

Wu Qingfeng's hands shook as he fed himself medicine. He finally got to his feet, the arrogance gone from his eyes.

"Liu… Liu Daoyou, what is the meaning of this?"

He knew this killing god well, and the man's terrifying reputation even better.

Still, his heart burned with fury. What did this have to do with Liu Xingzhi? Did he just enjoy meddling in others' affairs?

Liu Xingzhi lifted his gaze slightly, his cold eyes brimming with killing intent.
