Chapter 377 - Chapter 376: Unhinged Vill-V

Mobius is a born genius… literally.

Right at birth, she could speak coherent sentences. Her monstrous capability spooked her parents, though they offered her the love of a normal one.

Things changed when Mobius' mother succumbed to an unknown virus—the undiscovered honkai corruption at that time. Her father degenerated into a bastard who only knew how to drink and slap her face all day long.

Even for a genius, there was a breaking point.

A sudden realization cleared up her confusion one day:

'Humans are weak.'

In the face of the illimitable universe, they are but a speck of dust. Trapped in their own cage, they would not know how they died, deluding themselves into promises of afterlife and thrown-away regrets.

Infinity.

That was the thing she pursued. The infinite evolution of humankind.

For over two decades, Mobius worked her way up to become one of Fire MOTH's founders as well as the leader of the world's biological studies.

Kevin became her first successful project. The Project Soldier worked with him, allowing Kevin to be implanted with the honkai genes of Parvati.

Prior to that occurrence, Mobius still followed society's accepted ethical standards. Human experimentation is limited to those who are willing to undergo them. She has to get their signed consent along with other requirements. A pain in her side at that time, but one that ensured Mobius' bottom-line.

Whether she likes it or not, she has to follow the regulations, lest they use it against her and completely halt her studies.

Kevin's experiment was the breaking point. Fire MOTH was desperate to have more individual combat power at that time, leading to Mobius' loosened restraints when it comes to live experimentation.

The lives that were lost under her scalpel's touch numbered in the hundreds. They paid too huge of a price to allow Mobius to explore the Project Soldier's limits. Her unrestrained usage of the emperor-class genome and the consecutive failures of her experiment pushed her mental state to the extreme end.

Thus, Mobius became the unhinged, determined, and crazy psychopath whose sole purpose is to chase that intangible infinity.

The Elysian Realm became her endpoint.

The Flamechasers caught onto the fact that they had slim chances of winning against the Honkai. They decided to leave an ember to the future generations. Thus, the Elysian Realm was built.

Mobius was no exception to it. The only difference was that…

She had reached her limits.

Elysia's death impacted her greatly. She is one of the few special people in her heart. She skipped Elysia's final farewell to others because Mobius knew she would lose control. Eden's suicide doubled-down on her worn-out mental state. Her decision to be left in their Era, following Elysia's death, shook her to the core.

That was when the simulated Mobius placed the cherry on the top.

She pushed the real Mobius to her death. The simulated Mobius became the real Mobius as she had intended.

If they had any difference, it was that she swore not to follow the real Mobius' footsteps. She would never allow herself to be limited by those meager emotions… those small aspects that keep the last bit of her humanity intact.

She would soar through everything and reach the infinity she could never reach!

As if the world had heard of her cries, an opportunity came.

Immortal cultivation.

Mobius heard about it decades after the Moon Fight against Kevin. Interested at first, she was shocked when she saw its full glimpse.

Cultivation increases the life level of its practitioner. It is no longer a matter of pushing one's body to the absolute limits, nor was it limited to "borrowing" genes from others, but a bonafide improvement brought upon the absorption of spiritual qi and comprehension of the "Dao".

The moment she discovered it, Mobius knew it in her heart.

This was the infinity she was looking for.

Unfortunately for her, the others weren't as talented as them. It took Welt Yang a lot of time to enable them to interact with the intangible elements of immortal cultivation. His efforts bore fruit, however, allowing two of the Previous Era's greatest geniuses to study immortal cultivation and its effects on the imaginary and the quantum.

Upon hearing that the fabled "Sect Master", the "Dao Ancestor" who propagated immortal cultivation on Earth, will visit them, Mobius looked forward to it. Never did she expect the appearance of Elysia. Naturally, she also did not expect it would have a huge impact on her mind.

Mobius' momentary escape was the time she talked about academic matters with Shi Tian. She was somewhat surprised by Shi Tian. He was so hyped up that Mobius thought she held peculiarities like Vill-V. Turns out, he is quite normal.

"How did you do this?! I want to learn this trick!"

"It's easy. The first step is to reach the Void Refinement Realm."

Vill-V stared at Shi Tian in silence before asking a question:

"Will having sexual intercourse with you speed that process?"

Her blunt question forced several coughs out of Shi Tian's throat. Elysia stared wide-eyed at the Magician, a tinge of blush appearing on her cheeks.

On the side, Mobius pricked up her ears. She crossed her arms on her chest, appearing disinterested but actually listening to their conversation.

"Things are not that simple, Miss Vill-V. You should be talking about Dual Cultivation."

He gave the three of them a serious talk regarding dual cultivation. It wasn't as "magical" as the outside world makes them out.

"Then, is it their connection with you?"

Shi Tian met Vill-V's "oblivious" gaze. He felt she was hiding more than what she's presenting on the surface.

"That is correct. They do have a special connection with me."

"Your lovers?"

"...Yes."

Seeing how easily she cornered him, Shi Tian saw no harm in divulging these facts to them. His strength is one thing. They are all simulated people.

'It won't end up like that, no..?'

No matter how much he thought about it, he felt it would be otherwise.

The three women around him will get involved one way or another!

He recalled a specific saying: When soldiers come, the general blocks them; when water comes, earth covers it.

In short, it is best to leave it all to fate.

'I wonder what this magician needs with me…'
