Bell wiped the sweat from his forehead, his breath heavy but controlled. His muscles burned, his entire body screaming for rest, yet a satisfied smirk spread across his face. He had doubled his daily training—a test of endurance, willpower, and the growing hunger for strength that pushed him forward.
Then, suddenly—
[Hidden Quest Completed!]
Bell's eyes widened.
[You have obtained an item: Key to the Demons' Castle.]
A shimmering red key materialized in his hand. The description popped up in front of him.
—
Item: Key to the Demons' Castle
Level of Difficulty: S
Type: Key
This key allows you to enter the Dungeon: Demons' Castle.
—
Bell stared at the system message, disbelief washing over him. An S-ranked item? He had heard of adventurers obtaining rare drops in the dungeon, but this... this was beyond anything he expected.
His heart pounded. An S-rank dungeon meant high-level monsters, treasures, and—most importantly—opportunities to grow stronger.
For a moment, his fingers tightened around the key.
Then, he noticed something else.
Walking over to a nearby fountain, Bell leaned over and saw his reflection.
His jaw dropped.
The scrawny boy who had once struggled against goblins was gone. His previously small frame had grown significantly, his muscles lean and defined. His once childish face now bore a sharper, more mature look. But the most shocking change was his height.
He had grown several inches taller.
"This... is all because of the system?"
Bell clenched his fists, feeling the power coursing through his veins. The difference was undeniable. The System was changing him, shaping him into something greater.
He looked at his stats.

Bell smiles, he has made some good progress so far. "I wonder if this hidden quest is a one time thing..." Taking the risk, he uses the key in the air and turns it. He entered the portal and the world around him shifted significantly. Everything around him was one fire.
Bell's breath came out in ragged gasps as he took in the sight before him.
What... the hell?
How ironic his wording was.
The world around him was drenched in fire, the sky a swirling mass of crimson and black. He could feel the heat pressing against his skin, a constant, suffocating presence. The stone beneath his feet was cracked and scorched, and every breath he took was laced with the acrid scent of burning.
His fingers twitched around the key, now useless after serving its purpose.
His eyes snapped toward the massive fortress ahead, its jagged spires clawing at the sky like the talons of some great beast. A deep, unsettling hum vibrated through the air, like the low growl of a predator that had already caught his scent.
A shiver ran down his spine.
This place... feels wrong.
His grip tightened around Kasaka's Fang, his mind racing.
Did I just make the biggest mistake of my life?
The system had classified this key as S-rank. That alone should have been a warning. He knew what that meant—monsters beyond his current strength, trials that could end him in an instant. Yet, he had stepped through without hesitation.
Why?
His mind answered before he even finished the thought.
Because I need to be stronger.
Because he could still hear Bete's words sneering at him in the back of his mind. Because he could still feel the sting of helplessness, the shame of being saved time and time again.
He clenched his fists.
I refuse to stay weak. I refuse to be the same Bell Cranel from before.
He exhaled slowly, steadying himself. There was no turning back now. The only path left was forward.
Taking his first step, he steeled his resolve.
No matter what's waiting for me here... I'll survive.
Heavy footsteps echoed through the desolate expanse, each one a harbinger of the monstrous presence ahead. From the shadows, three pairs of smoldering red eyes pierced through the darkness, unblinking, filled with malice. The air itself felt heavier, suffused with a tangible pressure that sent an instinctive chill down Bell's spine.
[The Gatekeeper of Hell, Cerberus.]
The beast loomed before him—three monstrous heads, each crowned with jagged horns, thick red fur bristling as if the very fires of the underworld pulsed beneath its skin. Its massive claws gouged deep grooves into the stone, and when its jaws parted, a chorus of guttural growls rumbled through the cavern.
Bell exhaled sharply. His grip on his blade tightened.
Then, he moved.
A single leap propelled him forward, and with a flash of steel, his sword carved a deep gash across the beast's flank.
SLASH!
Notice:
[Title: Wolf Assassin] Buffs have been activated.
A second system alert followed instantly.
[Skill: Speed] has been activated. Your speed has increased by 30%. Mana consumption: 1 per minute.]
Bell felt it immediately—the surge of power, the way his body responded before his mind could even fully register the movement. He became a blur, darting around the colossal hound with impossible agility.
The beast roared, snapping its three heads toward him, but Bell was already gone.
WHAM!
A monstrous paw struck the ground where he had been just seconds before, the impact fracturing the stone. Bell pivoted, slashing upward—
CLANK!
Cerberus barely flinched.
Bell clicked his tongue and leaped back, keeping his distance. His instincts screamed at him to stay alert.
Notice:
[The Gatekeeper of Hell, Cerberus, has activated Skill: Rage.]
[For the next 3 minutes, all of Cerberus' stats will increase twofold.]
A furious howl split the air as the beast's muscles tensed, its movements growing exponentially faster.
Shit—!
Bell barely had time to react before Cerberus lunged. A wall of red fur and razor-sharp fangs filled his vision. He twisted his body mid-air, dodging one set of snapping jaws—only for another to clamp down.
Pain exploded through his body.
His vision blurred, red warnings flashing frantically in the corner of his sight.
Notice:
[Health: 1290/2475]
[Health: 725/2475]
[Health: 228/2475]
Cerberus snarled, its fangs sinking deeper before wrenching its head sideways. Something tore.
Bell's arm—gone.
A raw, agonized scream tore from his throat as he was flung through the air, crashing against the jagged stone wall. The impact knocked the breath from his lungs, leaving him gasping. His remaining hand clawed against the dirt, struggling to lift himself.
The system flickered again.
Notice:
[Skill: Tenacity has been activated. Damage taken will be reduced by 50% while health is below 30%.]
Even in the face of death, the system refused to let him fall.
Bell let out a dry, breathless chuckle. Guess I'm not dying just yet.
The pain still burned like molten iron searing through his veins, but he wasn't out of options.
"Accept [Reward: Status Recovery.]"
Light enveloped his shoulder. Flesh knitted itself together at an unnatural speed, his arm regenerating before his very eyes. He flexed his fingers, feeling the strength return.
Cerberus snarled, lunging again.
Bell didn't hesitate.
He met the beast head-on, dodging past its fangs and grabbing onto one of its massive teeth. With a surge of raw strength, he twisted its head at an unnatural angle, forcing its body off-balance.
One of the remaining heads snapped at him—Bell responded with a downward thrust, his blade piercing straight through its skull. The beast howled, but before it could retaliate, he twisted the blade, severing through bone and flesh in a single brutal motion.
SLASH!
Another head fell limp.
The remaining head thrashed wildly, but Bell was already moving. He leaped, spinning mid-air, and with a final, decisive strike, he severed the last head from its body.
Notice:
[You have defeated The Gatekeeper of Hell, Cerberus.]
[Level up! X4]
The colossal body of the beast convulsed before collapsing, its massive form crumbling into shimmering fragments of light. The dungeon fell silent.
Bell stood amidst the remains, chest heaving. His sword dripped with ichor, his heartbeat still hammering in his ears.
Then—
A new alert.
Notice:
[Item Acquired: Warden's Necklace]

Type: Accessory

Bell exhaled, shaking his head.
"Yeah... I was definitely not ready for this dungeon."
Still—he glanced at the new item in his hand, a smirk tugging at his lips—at least he walked away with something worthwhile.
