He then settled himself at the passenger side of the chariot while the knight climbed to the front seat, holding the reins.
A short whistle escaped the knight's lips as he whipped the reins downward.
The two black horses neighed loudly, muscles rippling under their thick hides as they dug their hooves into the dirt.
With a sharp, unified thrust, they blasted forward, the entire chariot jolting slightly before gliding smoothly over the paved road.
"I should arrive at the academy in about twenty minutes," he murmured. "But until then… I'll just chill."
He closed his eyes briefly, allowing the subtle vibration of the chariot's movement to lull him into a relaxed state.
Every now and then, he would feel the chariot tilt slightly as they passed over bumps or uneven ground, but it was nothing uncomfortable.
