Even with only one hand, Jinpachi stubbornly swung his blade at Natsuhi's face. But she defended herself with ease. The Blastsword, Shibuki, was most effective when its slashes were combined with ninjutsu to detonate its explosive tags. Without that combination, it was far less threatening. As Jinpachi prepared to strike, he saw that there was no fear in Natsuhi's eyes. In fact, a ball of fire was gathering in her palm.
"Fire Style! Great Fireball Jutsu!"
Thankfully, Kusuo's reflexes were incredibly fast, and he managed to dodge from behind Jinpachi just in time. A violent torrent of flames engulfed the swordsman.
"Water Style! Water Wall!"
Although Jinpachi reacted instantly, it was too late.
"That jutsu again. Is he... planning to run?" Natsuhi thought, her eyes cautiously fixed on the flames. But when the fire subsided, she launched another punch.
Jinpachi coughed up a mouthful of blood as his body was sent flying backward. He crashed through several large trees before finally slamming into a rock face, his body deeply embedded in the stone.
Kusuo was thoroughly impressed. "It seems I truly underestimated you back in the Hidden Star Village. I never thought you could use a jutsu of that caliber." Even he was surprised by the power Natsuhi had just unleashed. To this day, he had not met anyone else who possessed such raw strength.
"Lord Kusuo, I'll finish him now," Natsuhi declared, unleashing another fire-style jutsu.
At this point, Jinpachi was completely defenseless, able to do nothing but scream as the powerful flames burned his body. Kusuo noticed that the mysterious chakra thread controlling him remained unchanged, even in the intense heat. He instantly appeared behind Jinpachi and slashed at the thread with his sword. But to his surprise, the blade had no effect.
"It seems all seven of them are under control. Getting those swords won't be as easy as I thought," Kusuo muttered, realizing his original plan might be more complicated than he anticipated.
The flames engulfing Jinpachi suddenly died out. Kusuo turned to see Natsuhi kneeling on the ground, clutching her stomach. Using his Transparent World, he quickly assessed her condition. Her chakra was nearly depleted, but unlike before, her body was not regenerating new chakra.
"It seems her body has reached its limit."
Kusuo knew that Natsuhi had given her all in this fight. Her own strength was only at the level of a jounin, but she had been fighting Jinpachi, one of the legendary Seven Ninja Swordsmen, who had been reanimated and further enhanced with a mysterious puppet jutsu. For her to win under such a huge disparity in power was already an incredible feat.
"I'll take it from here. You rest," Kusuo said, appearing at her side and gently patting her shoulder.
Natsuhi struggled to stand but failed after several attempts. "I'm so sorry, Lord Kusuo. I'm so useless." Her voice was filled with self-reproach.
But Kusuo just waved his hand. "You did very well. Anyone else would not have been able to do what you did. If you're interested, I'd like you to join my Demon Slayer Corps in the future."
Hearing this, Natsuhi looked up at him in surprise. Though she didn't know what the Demon Slayer Corps meant to him, her only desire was to stay by his side.
"Of course, Lord Kusuo. I would be honored to join."
Kusuo smiled faintly. "Sun Breathing, Fifth Form: Fire Wheel!"
A fierce flame instantly consumed Jinpachi's body. When the fire cleared, Kusuo appeared before him and, in a matter of seconds, unleashed a flurry of attacks with his short sword.
