"Pokémon Eggs Gacha?!"
Both Akira and Erika shouted at the same time in disbelief.
They never expected the gacha section to contain something like this.
Akira stared at the banner, then at his sister.
"Why is there even a Pokémon Eggs Gacha?"
Selena answered immediately,
"What's wrong with that? We have gacha for lots of things. Pokémon is just one of them."
Akira pressed,
"But you should have put them together in something like an 'Eggs' section, right? Why do Pokémon have a special unique one?"
Selena huffed.
"I like Pokémon, alright? And I thought it would be more fun this way."
Akira nodded.
"Well… that makes more sense."
Erika asked hesitantly,
"So… how does it work exactly? Do we just get a Pokémon from gacha?"
Selena smiled.
"Not exactly. It's actually simple. You get a random Pokémon egg from the gacha. After taking care of it and incubating it, it will hatch and you'll get your Pokémon."
Erika blinked.
"Wait, I have to incubate it?"
"Yeah," Selena said. "Just put it in your backpack and carry it around. You know, the old way."
Akira said,
"I thought it would hatch immediately."
Selena sighed.
"Oh come on. I told you, right? The only way it can be sold is if it's an embryo without sentience. Once it develops a brain, it counts as sentient. So the egg is in its earlier stage—you have to take care of it the normal way."
Akira shrugged.
"Well, it's okay, I guess. I did want to carry around a Pokémon egg at least once. Fine, let's buy it."
He reached out to press the screen.
"Stop right there."
Erika grabbed his wrist immediately.
Akira blinked.
"What?"
Erika crossed her arms, looking every bit the responsible one.
"You can't just decide to get a… pet by yourself, you know."
Akira whined,
"Why not?"
Erika explained patiently,
"Taking care of a life is a huge responsibility. Besides, we already have Raven, Rose, and the entire crow army. Wait—where are they anyway?"
Selena answered,
"They're training with Za-kun."
Akira immediately put on his best pitiful expression, eyes big and voice slightly whiny.
"But Erika… I'll take good care of it! I'll take it for walks, train it in battles, and feed it every day! Please? It'll be so much fun…"
Erika sighed, clearly wavering.
"Akira…"
Selena chimed in helpfully,
"I'll definitely help too. I can monitor the egg's condition and give advice on incubation."
Erika looked between Akira's pleading face and Selena's supportive smile.
Then she looked at how carefully Akira was already staring at the screen.
Then she finally gave in with a long sigh.
"…Fine. One each. But you have to take good care of it, understand."
"I will."
Akira cheered and immediately tapped the screen before she could change her mind.
A new gacha animation appeared—the same falling star, but this time it morphed into a glowing egg shape.
The light shattered.
In Akira's inventory, a large, mysterious Pokémon egg appeared.
He quickly took it out.
It was surprisingly big—bigger than a football—with a smooth, slightly warm white shell covered in green patches.
Akira held it carefully, eyes sparkling with excitement.
Akira held the large egg carefully, tapping it gently with his finger.
"So this is a Pokémon egg…" He smiled. "It feels tougher than a normal egg."
Selena warned immediately,
"Don't break it. It's tough, but not that tough. Don't test it."
Akira nodded.
"Okay."
He turned to Erika with bright eyes.
"It's your turn, Erika."
Erika sighed but couldn't hide her own curiosity.
She tapped the screen.
The same falling-star animation appeared, morphing into a glowing egg shape before shattering.
A second Pokémon egg appeared in her inventory.
She took it out—it looked almost identical to Akira's: a large, smooth white shell with faint green patches.
Erika tilted her head.
"Do all Pokémon eggs look the same?"
Selena nodded.
"Yep. So when it hatches, it will be a real surprise."
Akira asked,
"What if I use my Mystic Eyes of Truth's appraisal ability? Will I know what's inside?"
Selena smiled.
"You could. Do you want to?"
Akira thought for a moment, then shook his head.
"Nah… maybe not. It won't be a surprise then."
Selena looked pleased.
"Exactly. It will be more fun if we take our time."
Erika looked at her egg thoughtfully, unconsciously held it more carefully than before.
"So what should we do with them now? How does incubation even work here?"
Akira suggested with a grin,
"Do we need an incubator? Or how about we just sit on it?"
Erika immediately shot him down.
"I am not doing that."
Selena giggled.
"For now, they just need time and warmth. As for incubation? Just try your best to carry them with you. When you're too busy, give them to me—I'll take care of them for a bit."
Akira nodded.
"Great. Now we wait…"
He stared at the egg for a moment, then said,
"How about I use magic to—"
"Stop right there," Selena cut in firmly.
Akira blinked.
"What?"
Selena changed the subject smoothly.
"Don't you want to check out your new spaceship?"
Akira's eyes lit up.
"Yeah! I forgot about that. Erika, let's go check it out in the backyard."
Erika smiled.
"Sure. You go first. I'll be there."
Akira teleported back to the mansion.
Selena looked at Erika with a serious expression.
"Keep him distracted for a bit. I don't think he'll do anything dangerous to it, but it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to keeping eggs away from him."
Erika nodded, her face turning determined.
"Okay."
She teleported back to the mansion and immediately headed to the large garden behind it.
Akira was already there, looking around excitedly for the perfect spot to summon the ship.
Seeing her arrive, he waved enthusiastically.
"Erika! Come here, come here!"
Erika sighed with an indulgent smile and walked over.
"You're like a kid with a new toy," she teased gently. "Just don't blow up the garden like you used to when we were little, okay?"
Akira grinned.
"Promise."
He reached out his hand.
From his inventory, the YT-2400 Light Freighter materialized in a shimmer of light.
The ship was sleek and rugged at the same time—a classic Corellian design with a distinctive saucer-shaped hull, and its unique tubular offset cockpit.
Its hull was a deep gunmetal gray with subtle red accents, looking brand new and well-maintained, as if it had just rolled off the assembly line.
The dual laser cannon turrets gleamed under the sunlight, and the whole vessel hummed with quiet power.
Akira's eyes were practically sparkling.
"Look at it! It's real! A proper Star Wars light freighter!"
He wiped away mock tears dramatically.
"It looks exactly as I thought it would be…"
Erika tilted her head, staring at the angular, gunmetal-gray ship with its disk-shaped saucer-like design.
"…Is it the Millennium Falcon?"
Akira looked genuinely offended.
"No, of course not! How could you even say that? It's completely different."
Erika blinked in confusion.
"But it looks like it?"
Akira sighed like a patient teacher.
"The Millennium Falcon is a YT-1300. This is a YT-2400. They're both from the same YT series and the same manufacturer, but they're completely different models."
Erika asked curiously,
"So which is better?"
Akira thought for a bit.
"Well, if I had to say, they both excel at different things, but this one is newer, more compact, and really good at combat and maneuverability."
Erika nodded slowly.
"So… how do we get inside?"
Akira found the boarding ramp and lowered it.
They stepped into the ship together.
The interior was surprisingly spacious and well-maintained—clean cargo holds, small but functional crew quarters, a modest medical bay, and a super cool sci-fi cockpit.
But Akira muttered under his breath,
"This is not my aesthetic… It's too small, too old-fashioned, and everything feels so analog. It needs an upgrade. No—an overhaul."
Erika asked,
"Are you going to do something to it now?"
Akira shook his head.
"First, I need a test drive. Come on, to the cockpit."
He rushed to the cockpit, dropped into the pilot's seat with a huge grin, and immediately began scanning the controls.
Erika buckled into the co-pilot seat, looking a bit nervous.
"Do you even know how to fly it?"
Akira shrugged.
"We'll figure it out live."
He reached for the controls.
The YT-2400 lifted off smoothly at first, hovering above the mansion garden.
Then Akira pushed the throttle.
The ship shot forward like a rocket, diving low into the forest behind the mansion.
Branches whipped past the viewport at terrifying speed.
Akira whooped with laughter as he weaved between trees.
"Woo! This thing handles great!"
Erika grabbed the armrests, face pale.
"Akira—slow down! The trees! Turn around! Go somewhere else!"
"Okay."
Akira turned around, and the ship rushed directly toward the mansion.
Erika screamed.
"Now you're going to hit the mansion!"
Akira said,
"Don't worry."
The ship banked sharply, missing the mansion's roof by mere meters.
Erika let out the exhausted scream of someone reconsidering every life choice she had made.
"Akira!"
Akira laughed.
"I've got it! I'm figuring out the controls!"
Erika snapped, her voice sharp with panic and exasperation.
"Figure it out faster or I'm jumping off!"
Akira said,
"I don't think you can jump off, but okay."
He then reluctantly raised a hand.
A magic circle expanded in front of him, sweeping across the ship as data, manuals, and schematics flooded into his mind.
"I got it now."
The reckless flying smoothed out almost immediately.
The YT-2400 leveled off, rising smoothly above the trees and climbing higher into the sky.
Akira let out a satisfied breath.
"There we go. Much better."
Erika exhaled in relief, still gripping the armrests.
"You could have done this the whole time?"
Akira grinned.
"Well, I wanted to figure it out myself first…"
Erika sighed.
"…You're impossible."
They broke through the clouds and entered space.
Earth stretched out below them—a beautiful blue marble against the black void.
As they orbited, they passed a few old satellites drifting silently in the distance.
The view took Erika's breath away.
"Wow…"
Akira grinned like a maniac.
"Let's see how hyperspace jump works."
Erika immediately came to her senses.
"Wait—"
But Akira had already pressed the button.
The stars stretched into brilliant lines as the YT-2400 entered hyperspace.
Erika gripped the armrests tightly.
"What in the world is wrong with you?! Do you even know where we're going?!"
Akira scratched his cheek sheepishly.
"Huh… Well…"
Erika stared at him.
"You what?!"
Selena's voice returned telepathically, sounding mildly amused.
Don't worry. Even though there's no proper hyperspace lane here, I don't think the way you're going will cause any major problems.
Akira nodded confidently.
"Yeah. Most of space is empty anyway, so don't worry."
Erika sighed deeply.
"Why did I agree to this…"
After around two minutes, the ship dropped out of hyperspace.
A bright, unfamiliar star system stretched before them.
Near them floated a huge, beautiful blue-and-orange gas giant, and farther beyond it burned three suns.
Erika's eyes widened in awe.
"Wow…"
Akira leaned forward excitedly.
"Is this the Alpha Centauri system? Is that Polyphemus? Wait—is Pandora here?!"
Erika turned to him.
"What?"
Akira grinned.
"You know, the one from the James Cameron movie Avatar."
Erika blinked.
"That was real?!"
Akira's eyes sparkled with pure curiosity.
"Should we check it out?"
A loud, dramatic growl echoed from his stomach.
Akira paused.
"…Maybe later. Let's go back. I need food."
Erika sighed, but a small, fond smile tugged at her lips.
"You are unbelievable."
Selena's voice echoed telepathically.
"Do you know how to get back?"
Akira said confidently,
"Well, just turn back, right?"
Selena stayed suspiciously quiet.
Akira repeated,
"…Right?"
In the end, it took a combination of Akira's calculations and Selena's guidance to find the correct vector.
The return trip took longer than expected, and by the time they finally dropped out of hyperspace near Earth, Akira was really hungry.
The moment they landed in the mansion garden, Akira immediately pulled a whole roasted Flyer Duck from his inventory and started eating it like a starving man.
Erika watched him with a mix of exasperation and amusement.
"…At least sit down first."
