James went down the stairs. He wondered "how far do these stairs go and is the labyrinth at the bottom?" James went on and on, step by step, but it seemed as if there would be no end. James thought, "there has to be an end sometime, I have to go on." 3 days later, James was still going on. He was tired, his eyes were already red, he couldn't think straight anymore
James talks to himself in a weak voice, "When will I finally reach the end? It's been three days. There was nothing about these stairs in the notebook." James starts to hear voices. At first it was just a quiet whisper, but now he hears crying and screaming, as if someone is being tortured in hell under hot flames and powerful demons. James starts screaming, "Stop it, I can't stand this. Where are you? What's happening here." He falls to his knees, crying. Hot red blood is pouring from his eyes. He scratches at his eyes as if he's trying to rip them out. He says in a begging voice, "Please make it stop, even if it means I die."
James asks himself "Am I even still alive? Who am I?" "Is this really the real me all this time?" James stands up and lifts his head. He says in a serious voice "No, the real me was only born here in this place. I have only just begun to live. I am not dead. I am more alive than ever before." James continues walking and after the last step the stairs end. It seems as if he only had to summon up a certain amount of willpower. James is now standing in front of a huge gate. It is made of bone and flesh. It looks as if it is the entrance to the labyrinth. James says "So this is this labyrinth."
