Day 1: The Start
Location: Beol Mountains / 18 years earlier before canon
In the deep Beol mountains, far from Edas village a hidden flat meadow, trees, and a small lake within the tallest mountain crater. There is a log cabin with stone bricks as foundation that looks more like a workshop than a home, and inside is a young elf, no older than 15, with blue copper hair. The length of the hair is about 40 cm long, but, instead of being loosely down, it has an unusual quality of being on fire.
The gaseous ends of it gently swayed from side to side while the more physical form, around 8 cm in length, acted like an anchor, trying to prevent the flames from leaving. The hair glowed with a radiant light, but no heat or warmth emitted from it. The owner of said hair was seen seated in front of a table, eating breakfast consisting of fruits foraged from the trees and meat hunted from the birds that came by from time to time.
As he ate, he began reminiscing about the first time he arrived at his current residence. Before arriving here, he was just a regular shut-in who was trying to make a name for himself by streaming video games, especially games like Terraria and various mods for it. During one of his streams, after he had just finished and gone to bed, he woke up not in his room, but outside a small forest next to a lake and what could only be described as a mountainous stone wall surrounding him.
At the time anxiety began creeping within him, worrying about how to survive such an environment, what made it worse was that his body regressed back to 10 but before that happened, he heard a very familiar ping and saw something that was very common in novels, fanfics, and such. Staring at the now-blue screen and the words written, 'Terraria System Activated,' and seeing this gave him a massive feeling of relief.
Taking a few deep breaths before talking quietly, "System, are you a sentient type or not? As he waited for a response, he let out a sigh, a bit disappointed, before thinking in his mind, 'System, open,' and afterward, the system panel appeared. It showed various panels: one for inventory, similar in appearance to the original game, the same with the armor and accessories panel, and three set slots. Nodding to himself, he then sees something at the bottom of his vision: a button panel with the words create New World written on it. That made his eyes light up in excitement, knowing the implication of it.
It would mean he could create either one or more instances of the world, and that would mean he could gather infinite resources and couldn't help but let his imagination run wild. But luckily, reality woke him up because the moment he saw the panel showing the currently available recipes for weapons, armor, and accessories, he was a bit shocked to find he was at a level and skill lock, preventing him from making stronger weapons. Another thing that shocked him was that he had to actually make everything manually, nothing like the instantly created items that the game did, and then he saw a familiar word, falna making him realize which world he had ended up in.
Staring at the system panel for a while, still in shock, he finally shook his head and stood up. His small, 4'5 body began stretching as his mind pondered different strategies to survive in the Terraria world. He knew how dangerous that world was, especially in the early stages, unless, of course, the difficulty of the early stages, unless it had been scaled down—so he decided to be cautious.
After a while, he finally decided to press the new world panel, and a portal appeared in front of him. At first, he was just seeing black until it finally swapped to showing an open meadow surrounded by a large forest, and this sight made him sigh, seeing he was still going to appear in an isolated location. He then proceeded to enter the portal and immediately arrived in his personal world. Upon arrival, he instinctively checked his inventory and saw he was given a starter gear, some being the common copper tools and basic workstations. The workbench, anvil, furnace, sawmill, and loom.
After seeing that he at least had some starter gear, he equips the axe and begins chopping a few trees and replanting the acorns. It takes a lot of effort, and he has to stop a few times, eating any fruit with juices in it to regain some stamina, before he finally gathers the necessary amount of wood and immediately begins walking in a random direction to search for a nearby cave to gather stone. But the world of Terraria doesn't make it easy, as after he leaves the clearing, slimes of various sizes begin showing up. He swallows, seeing slimes numbering at seven. He then hurriedly opened his inventory, equipped the copper sword, and prepared for the fight.
(Warning used Ai to create a fight scene and then modified manually to make it fit the story)
The slimes slowly advanced towards him each time they hopped towards him, the left as of a heavy sound of a viscous liquid landing against the ground followed by sucking noises from it. Seeing so many of them, his face darkened, letting out a frustrated sigh, and his eyes began darting around, looking for the one that was furthest from the group of slimes and at least three medium slimes. He darted towards them, slamming down a heavy attack that was enough to kill the slime in the middle.
After the first slime melted away after its core was destroyed, several pieces of coins dropped, and a single lump of gel dropped as well. The slimes on the left and right leaped towards Payne, making him take a step back. He narrowly dodged one but was grazed by the other. This made him realize that while slimes were viscous liquid, they had a solid impact. The slime was essentially a plunging non-Newtonian fluid, or oobleck, since while he could avoid punching it and sword slashes were effective against it, the slime could hop towards him, creating the force needed to exhibit solid-like property. - (First time Mentioning characters name)
After being grazed by the slime he dodged, it was able to hit him on the shoulder. Payne let out a pained grunt and almost made him drop his sword as tears began to form on his face. He tightly held onto the sword, then made sure to create an even wider distance, running towards the direction of the clearing before facing the slimes again. Rubbing the tears away, he then sprinted at a nearby slime that was mid-leap and sliced at it mid-air, smashing the core and more coins and gel to drop.
Afterwards, without thinking did a dodge roll as the third slime they were fighting landed where he was standing. He quickly stood up and slashed at the slime multiple times until it was destroyed. A silver ore appeared where the slime was, and he didn't pick it up immediately He then looked at the other four slimes and ran around them to create more distance, avoiding being overwhelmed. He noticed his breathing was much heavier, realizing he was losing stamina. He quickly opened his inventory, grabbed an apple, quickly ate it along with an orange, sliced it with his copper sword, and squeezed it to drink the juice.
As he ate, he watched the four slimes' movements, in case they got too close. His mind raced, trying to plan out which one he engage first, since almost all of them were in close proximity to each other, making it even harder to combat these hopping ooblecks. Finishing his last fruit, he wiped the leftover juices on his shirt and then, without thinking, just charged towards the slimes, slashing, bashing, and dodging at them, switching targets and ignoring the pain he felt each time he missed the timing. He continued until finally killing the last slime.
Huffing and puffing for air, he then suddenly sat down, before having a laughing fit out of disbelief for surviving his first fight despite them being just slime. Then, suddenly, a small vortex appeared above his head, and all the items that dropped from the slimes began being sucked into it. He just watched before laying down on the ground, and when the vortex disappeared, he opened his inventory to see what loot he got.
------------------------
Gel x14
Silver ore x1
Lesser Healing potion x3
Copper coins x434 (62 per slime)
------------------------
The first thing his eyes landed on was the healing potions. After reading it, he began feeling the pain of the injuries he received from the slimes he fought, wincing. He sat back up, took out one of the potions, and drank it. The effect was immediate as sharp pains coursed throughout his body, and just as quickly as the pain surge came, it was gone, making him sigh in relief.
Standing up after taking a break, he patted around the back of his back, down to his pants, to remove any dirt and dust that had stuck on him, and began walking again, sword in hand, prepared to kill any slimes that got in the way. It was both thrilling and tiring as he went on a mindless slaughter of slime, and along the way, his slime loot was increasing from coins, gel, and lesser healing potions. When he grew tired, he would cut down a few trees and build a simple hut styled like a cabin to rest. While resting in the hut, he found out the map system of Terraria became a physical item that auto-updates each step he took in a grid-style pattern with markers, each symbolizing something: a pickaxe, a mountain with an entrance, and a skull and etc.
He set up a house marker on the map for the hut, then left the hut and continued his search for a cave. This time, he was avoiding some slime to conserve energy and occasionally took out his map to look and see if he had passed by a cavern or hole in the ground. He did find a hole in the ground, and he quickly went in its direction, excited. Arriving at the location, he swiftly pulled out his axe and began cutting all the trees in the vicinity of the hole. He built a cabin large enough to place workstations like the loom and workbench, while placing a sturdy fence around so he could work safely at night if needed placing the anvil, furnace, and sawmill. Within the fence area, and lastly, marking the place on the map with a pickaxe symbol for a mining zone.
Look up towards the sky, he then sees that it was already around seven PM, letting out a yawn. He then entered the cabin, but with no bedding, he, without thinking, just lay down and slept as much as possible. During midnight to 3 in the morning, the growling of zombies and a squishy sound could be heard, hitting against the cabin's walls. As the noise persisted the entire night, he did his best to get some good sleep, but each noise would wake him up before dozing off again, along with murmuring curses in annoyance.
Slowly, the sun rises and the open gaps from the cabin he built where sunlight passes through, with some shining on his face, slowly waking him up. Covering his face with one hand, he sighed, stood up, and began stretching while letting out a yawn. After getting rid of his sleeping next opened his inventory and grabbed a few apples to eat for breakfast. While walking out of the cabin, he once more sighed, feeling loneliness creeping in on him, and murmured nonsensical words watching birds fly.
Finishing the last apple he was eating, he wiped the juice off his hand with his shirt, not caring if it stained or not. He grabbed the gel he collected along with the sticks that came with the logs he gathered from cutting trees, and combined them to create a torch. He picked up two fairly large stones and struck them together, creating enough sparks to light the torch. Luckily, the gel from the slimes was very combustible, making it easily lit.
Holding the torch in one hand and a pickaxe in the other, he then went towards the ground cavern and slowly descended down. Luckily, it wasn't a crevice and more akin to a slope. Every few miles, he would place a torch on the wall to light up the path he was walking along, making it easier to see in the dark cavern. From time to time, he would stop when seeing a metallic glint to mine the ores, and stone, and even small bits of silt, just in case he was able to build or find an extractinator. But the trip down the cavern wasn't smooth sailing, as at times he would encounter some slimes of medium size, skeletons, insects, bats, and a jellyfish.
Luckily they were easier to deal with after noticing that they are much weaker and realized despite being a terraria world it seems to follow the power scaling of danmachi that being monster that are naturally born in the surface are much weaker than the once in the dungeon and that made payne though that maybe it will only get harder when he gains a falna or when he actually starts diving into the dungeon, if so that made him sigh in relief since he has time to gather resource, get stronger and learn new skills.
Just thinking about it somehow made him really excited, to the point where his hair glowed even brighter than the torch he held. It emitted a burning heat, his flaming hair much longer than it should. His lips, unable to stop from forming a vicious grin, he began speeding up his stone and ore gathering while also training his combat techniques by fighting every monster he encountered, not caring how injured he got. From each fight, without knowing it, several days had passed.
Sitting against the cavern walls, still grinning from the excitement, he opened his inventory and began sorting through his items. Bringing out multiple lesser healing potions, he drank each one in one gulp. The potion restored some of his stamina and healed every wound he sustained during his rampage in the cave and cavern area. One of the weapons that intrigued him was the chain knife he had gotten from the cave bat, and the bone sword. After Payne had rested enough, he grabbed the chain knife and began practicing how to use it. He discovered that with the Terraria system, it actually slowly taught him how to use each weapon through instincts, gradually.
That actually made him very happy because it meant he didn't need a long time to master every weapon available in Terraria, and maybe even manually crafting would have the same effect. As he practiced, he thought he should go back to the surface now and to the cabin to actually get some proper sleep. Thus, he began walking back and used the chain knife this time as his main weapon due to its longer reach and the damage was fairly better than the game version of it, killing some slimes in one shot.
Reaching the entrance of the cavern, he then sees that the sun is already rising, meaning he got lucky with the timing of his arrival to the surface after spending several days down the cavern. But he didn't show any regret because it would be very much the same once he started dungeon diving when he arrives in Orario. While down in the cavern, he already made up his mind; he would join the familia of the goddess he had a crush on when he was still back on Terra, Hephaestus. It was another reason he was really happy when he saw he had elf ears, meaning he had a lot of time and would live a long life. Of course, he was also ready to outlive friends he would make in the future and further ahead.
Shaking his head as he finally got out of the cavern, he immediately went towards a water source and removed his shirt and shorts, leaving him only in his underwear. He began washing the dirt from his body and clothes, hanging said clothes to a clothing rack he made. He went inside the cabin and began to sleep due to hidden exhaustion, with the last thought of what the future holds.
