Ulrich sharpened his hearing the moment the voice reached the cave. It sounded strangely familiar, as though he had heard it somewhere before.
He immediately raised a finger to his lips, silently telling the others not to make a sound.
His right hand gradually dissolved into smoke before slipping out of the cave. The black mist crept across the snow, becoming his eyes as it followed the source of the voice.
A man was wandering through the blizzard, cursing under his breath while kicking the snow beneath his boots in frustration, clearly searching for a way out.
When the figure finally came into view, Ulrich's brows slowly knitted together.
He knew that face.
Messy dirty blond hair, crimson eyes, and the same arrogant expression he had seen countless times before.
It was one of Corvane's men.
"Mr. Ulrich..." Flynn lowered his voice. "That gentleman must be one of the villagers from Amber Village. He appears to have lost his way, just as the three of you did."
