Chapter 245 - Chapter 244: Theory and Practice — Development of Light

"Wh–what… was that just now?"

His partner shook his head, eyes wide. "I don't know! It looked like… a beam of light?"

Both turned instinctively toward the island.

There, the entire landmass shimmered with a golden radiance, as if the sun itself had descended upon it.

Shigure stood within that light, feeling the shift in his chakra — the overwhelming, radiant energy that surged through him.

The destructive power was astonishing. This was exactly what he had envisioned when he began developing Light Release: a force that embodied both speed and annihilation.

Good… very good.

Still, raw power alone wasn't enough. He needed techniques — refined, usable Ninjutsu that could channel this brilliance properly.

Light didn't require flashy theatrics. Its essence was purity — energy condensed and released in devastating bursts.

[Great Sage: Analyzing and calculating.]

Moments later, the familiar mechanical voice echoed in his mind.

[Congratulations to the Host for acquiring a new skill — Light Release: Light Bullet.]

A simple yet efficient technique — exactly as Shigure had imagined. By condensing light chakra to a single point and releasing it after reaching critical energy density, he could produce explosive force with incredible precision.

As for its application, it was flexible — hands, feet, even his weapons could serve as conduits. Anywhere his chakra could flow, light could be formed.

Shigure's gaze drifted to the ninja sword at his hip.

If I coat the blade in light chakra… would it amplify its cutting power? Perhaps even produce heat and kinetic impact simultaneously?

[Great Sage: Analyzing and calculating.]

[10%... 20%... 30%...]

After several minutes—

[Congratulations to the Host for acquiring a new skill — Light Release: Blade of the Gods.]

Shigure blinked, lips twitching.

That name… really, Great Sage?

Still, curiosity won out as he read the description.

[Light Release: Blade of the Gods — Condenses light-attribute chakra around a blade, drastically enhancing its cutting power. The radiant impact field can deflect or vaporize incoming attacks.]

So, an unstoppable edge that can repel anything?

Now that was impressive.

Shigure drew his blade. The moment Blade of the Gods activated, golden light enveloped the steel, shining like a divine weapon.

He swung lightly.

A single stroke split the air apart.

The resulting air pressure unleashed a storm-like shockwave, carving through the ground and hurling debris dozens of meters away. The sheer force of it stunned even Shigure himself.

If that was a casual swing… then a full strike could probably level the entire island.

Between the Light Bullet for ranged destruction and the Blade of the Gods for close combat, Light Release was already formidable.

But one idea still lingered in his mind.

Explosive, condensed beams are good… but light can do more. It can rain from above.

He smiled faintly.

[Great Sage: Analyzing and calculating.]

[2%... 6%...]

The process was slower this time, but Shigure didn't rush. He could already tell this would be something special.

Meanwhile, far out at sea—

Mei Terumī stood at the bow of a ship, her sharp eyes fixed on the glowing island ahead.

"Did you see it clearly just now?" she asked. "That beam—did it really come from Shigure's training grounds?"

A Mist shinobi beside her nodded nervously. "Yes, Lady Mizukage! I'm certain of it! A blinding beam shot out from Lord Shigure's island and caused a massive explosion in the ocean. I'll never forget that sight!"

Mei narrowed her eyes. "Full speed ahead."

Within minutes, a squad of a dozen elite shinobi followed her ashore.

The two guards stationed there nearly jumped out of their skins.

"L–Lady Mizukage! What brings you here?"

"Is Shigure still inside?"

"Yes! He hasn't come out since the training began."

Without another word, Mei stormed past them, her subordinates close behind.

They hurried through the dense forest until they reached the central lake — only to freeze in disbelief.

The lake was completely frozen over.

But that wasn't what left them speechless.

Floating above the lake was a massive sphere of golden light, pulsing like a living sun.

Within it, they could faintly make out Shigure's silhouette — and behind him, a radiant cross-shaped flash blazed through the clouds.

The next instant, countless light bullets rained down from the sky, hammering the frozen surface below.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Each impact tore the ice apart, vaporizing water and earth alike. The explosions merged into one continuous roar that shook the island itself.

Mei Terumī's eyes darkened as she watched the ground crumble.

What is that power?

Finally, the blinding glow began to fade. The light sphere dissolved, and the cross of light reformed into Shigure's shape once again.

He floated gently down, standing atop a cloud of mist.

Looking at the massive crater below, Shigure nodded with satisfaction.

[Congratulations to the Host for acquiring a new skill — Light Release: Yasaka Magatama.]

He smiled faintly.

Modeled after Kizaru's signature technique… looks like it turned out better than expected.

The destructive power was tremendous, though the chakra consumption was equally absurd — maintaining the technique for just a few seconds nearly drained him dry.

Still, with Sage Mode or Tailed Beast Mode, his chakra reserves would be more than enough to sustain it in battle.

He exhaled slowly. "As long as I don't overdo it… it'll be fine."

"Shigure!"

Mei's voice cut through the fading mist. She strode forward, her tone a mixture of anger and disbelief.

"You're here," Shigure said casually, as if nothing had happened.

"What in the world are you doing?"

He grinned. "Isn't it obvious? Developing new Ninjutsu—no, to be precise… a new Bloodline Limit."

The Mist shinobi collectively froze.

Developing a new Bloodline Limit?

Who did that in three days?

"What technique did you just use?" Mei demanded.

Shigure raised his hand. A soft sphere of light bloomed in his palm, glowing like a miniature sun.

"You mean this? It's called Light Release — my new Bloodline Limit."

His voice was calm, but the words struck like thunder.

The onlookers could only stare as he tossed the orb upward. Then, leaping high, Shigure spiked it like a volleyball.

The Light Bullet shot across the sky and exploded over the sea with a deafening BOOM, carving a massive crater in the water.

Waves surged outward, crashing violently against the shores.

Mei Terumī's heart skipped a beat.

This brat… what has he been doing on that island for three days?

The answer was right before her eyes—

He had created something entirely new.

A Bloodline Limit never before seen in the history of the ninja world.

"How is that even possible…"

One of the Mist shinobi gaped at the sight before him, his voice trembling. "Developing Ninjutsu is already nearly impossible for most shinobi… but developing a Bloodline Limit? You can't just—just create one out of thin air!"

No one answered. The words hung in the air, swallowed by the glow radiating from the figure floating above the island.

Shigure, however, seemed completely unfazed.

The Light Release attack he'd unleashed earlier had stirred another idea in his mind—something more advanced.

If light could be focused for offense… then could it be used to propel himself?

A light-speed kick might be unrealistic, but using the energy of light to accelerate his movements or amplify his physical strength seemed entirely possible.

A self-propulsion technique… if I can use the force of light as thrust, my reaction speed would multiply several times over.

[Great Sage: Analyzing and calculating…]

 [20%]

[50%]

[100%]

[Congratulations, Host. You have acquired a new skill — Light Release: Energy Burst.]

Energy Burst… huh?

Shigure smiled faintly. "Hmm, not a bad name."

A second later, his entire body flickered—then vanished.

A flash of gold cut through the air, and in that same instant—

He reappeared directly in front of Mei Terumī.

The Mizukage froze mid-breath, her eyes widening as instinct screamed at her to move. She hadn't even seen him move—only the afterimage of golden light remained.

So fast…!

Even her reflexes, honed through years of battle and mastery over two Kekkei Genkai, couldn't keep up with that speed.

She exhaled sharply, the faintest smile tugging at her lips despite her shock.

"Light Release… truly befitting of its name."

Shigure looked down at his glowing hands, chakra still humming through his veins.

"Speed, power, precision…" he murmured. "Light has it all."

[Great Sage: Current movement velocity under Energy Burst has reached 0.7 times the speed of sound. With further optimization, sub-light-speed movement is theoretically achievable.]

"Sub-light-speed, huh?" Shigure grinned. "Now that's something to aim for."

The golden light slowly dimmed around him, fading into the misty air.

Mei Terumī, however, was still staring at the spot where he had been a heartbeat ago, her mind reeling from what she'd witnessed.

In just three days, he didn't just create a new Bloodline Limit—he's already developed multiple techniques from it…

For a moment, she didn't know whether to be proud or afraid.

Because standing before her was no longer just a genius of the Hidden Mist.

He was becoming something far beyond the realm of ordinary shinobi.
