Chapter 168 - Chapter 168

Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 168

"P- Pa, what are you talking about? You know that I have a kid. We can't take care of you. My son is still young. He needs strict guidance." Gary's voice wavered as he spoke, avoiding his father's eyes.

"What about your wife?" Gomez asked.

"Father-in-law, I have a job. I can't take care of you and mother-in-law. What about Nancy? She doesn't have a job." Gary's wife shook her head, unwilling to take responsibility.

"Hey, I have two kids. Don't you know how hard it is to take care of two children? I say let Brandon handle this. He doesn't have a wife and a child, he can take care of Mama and Papa." Nancy immediately passed the responsibility to the youngest sibling, Brandon.

Brandon couldn't believe what his siblings were saying. His eyes widened as he processed their words. How could they say that to their parents?

"Nancy, Gary, are you saying you don't care about our parents!?" He slightly raised his voice, his fists clenching.

"I'm not saying that. It's just that our situation is not good, and we can't take care of others." Gary immediately denied the accusation.

"Brandon, don't put words in my mouth. How dare you say that!?" Nancy was offended.

"If you don't want to take care of our parents, then I'll do it!" Brandon made his decision. He knew that his older brother and sister were not the best siblings in the world, but this was too much. It crossed the line for him.

"That's good then!" Nancy replied too quickly, relieved that the issue was resolved.

"You're the youngest, and you're still single. Of course, it's your responsibility to take care of Mama and Papa," Gary added, nodding as if it were obvious.

Both Nancy and Gary happily let Brandon take the responsibility.

Looking at their children, Carmine and Gomez were disappointed, their expressions heavy. Gomez sighed while Carmine tried to hold back her tears.

"So be it. Since Brandon said that he will take care of us, he will inherit the house. Your mother and I don't have any other property except this house." Gomez spoke slowly, his voice firm but tired.

"P- Pa, don't say it like that. Where did this decision come from?" Gary couldn't accept it and panicked. He and his wife had already been eyeing the house. They could sell it for at least half a million pesos and do a lot of things with that money.

"Ma, Pa, is this how you treat your children? Why should Brandon inherit the house? I say we divide it into three. Once you guys are gone, we will sell the house and divide it equally. That's a fair and better decision." Nancy said, believing she was right.

"How dare you say that!? Nancy, do you take me for a fool? You want our parents to die, is that it?" Brandon roared in anger.

"Of course not, I didn't say it like that. It's just a hypothesis." Nancy scoffed, waving her hand dismissively.

"ENOUGH!"

Gomez slammed his fists on the table. The sharp sound echoed through the room, and the adults fell silent while the children stiffened in fear. It was the first time they had seen Gomez this angry. The old man's face darkened, his patience finally breaking.

"No matter what you say, Brandon will inherit the house. After witnessing what happened tonight, Brandon is the one child who deserves it." His decision was final.

"But Pa—" Gary tried to argue.

"Gary, you already have a house of your own. Why are you so adamant about getting this one?" Carmine's eyes reddened as she stared at her eldest son, her voice trembling slightly.

"Because if we sell the house, it could change our lives. That money could help us start a business," he explained.

"And what about you, Nancy? Your situation is far better than your siblings. Your husband earns well as a seaman. Are you also expecting to inherit the house?" Carmine turned to her daughter.

"Of course, Ma. I'm your daughter, and I have the right to inherit your property. You can't just give it to Brandon. That's favoritism," Nancy answered. Her husband remained silent, choosing not to get involved.

"I see, I see... Gomez, let's contact a lawyer and write our last will," Carmine said to her husband.

"Thank you, Ma." Nancy smiled, and even Gary nodded in approval, thinking they got what they wanted.

After that, the two families excused themselves and left. Now that they believed they would receive a portion of the house, they felt satisfied. Of course, they didn't forget the shrimp, each carrying their share as they left.

Brandon sat in front of the television to distract himself. He was still angry at his siblings.

"Brandon, let's talk," Gomez called out gently.

Gomez and Carmine sat down with Brandon.

"We made a decision. You will be the one to inherit the house," Gomez said.

"But I thought you agreed to divide it?" Brandon was confused.

"We lied," Carmine answered with a sigh. "We were testing your siblings, and none of them passed."

"Once we contact the lawyer and make a will, I will talk to them and tell them the truth," Gomez assured Brandon. As for the outcome, it didn't matter.

"Also, you asked me about the old house next to ours. I got information about it," Carmine added.

Brandon had asked his mother about the empty house next to theirs. It was an old, abandoned wooden house. He remembered that a family used to live there when he was young, but they moved to the capital. Since then, no one had lived there, and it remained silent and empty for years.

"The old couple who owned the house have already passed away, and their children are interested in selling it. I have their contact information," Carmine explained.

"Thank you, Ma."

Brandon was still unsure whether he would accept his parents' inheritance. He knew the house was a hot issue that his siblings desperately wanted. Instead, he thought about buying his own house and living there. The empty house next door was the best option since it was close, allowing him to visit his parents anytime.
