Chapter 244 - Chapter 244: New Combat Suit, Sniper Rifle, and Phase-Teleportation Gear!

Before his disappearance, Axis had assigned the Solus Prime two important tasks. The first was to secretly guard the Necron, Grandu, who was imprisoned in the deepest part of the ship.

The second task was to research a new superluminal engine and the weapons Axis had acquired from King Vegeta's personal collection, which belonged to the Frieza Legion.

He also remembered Grandu.

Before Axis had left, the Necron had beaten his chest and guaranteed he would create phase-teleportation equipment that could be mass-produced for the entire Legion. Axis wondered how that project had progressed.

"Rest assured, Lord Father. I have been diligently carrying out your orders. Allow me to present my progress," the Solus Prime reported.

"First is the specialized sniper rifle. I have successfully created a replica. Its power is quite astounding. A single shot from a distance can eliminate a Space Marine in power Armour. Even a Primarch clad in Power Armour would not emerge unscathed from a direct hit, and several shots could even prove fatal."

As the Solus Prime spoke, several servitors wheeled out a rack of the newly completed sniper rifles.

Each weapon was over two meters long with an exceptionally sleek design. The ammunition it fired was also of a special design, crafted from adamantium.

"Excellent work. This weapon can be issued to my Legion on a small scale in the future," Axis said.

Without Axis's personal authorization, the Solus Prime would not release these weapons, not even to his son. His direct command was required.

"I understand, Lord Father."

"Continue with your report on the other items," Axis instructed.

"In addition, the Legion's combat gear has been improved. I have specifically enhanced the special combat suit you requested. I added protection to key areas and integrated numerous specialized plates to shield against cosmic radiation. The design also maintains the flexibility of a battlesuit while offering the durability of specialized Power Armour."

Solus Prime then displayed a suit of humanoid armour that was highly futuristic. Its form was somewhat reminiscent of the specialized mecha Ultraman Suit, and it was lightweight and capable of flight.

The suit was perfectly tailored to Axis's physique. It weighed just over a hundred kilograms, significantly lighter than the several-hundred-kilogram suits of Power Armour worn by standard Space Marines.

Following Axis's specific requirements, its defensive capabilities had been heavily emphasized.

Its survivability in the void of space was increased, all integrated weapon systems were removed, and the life support systems were enhanced.

"Lord Father, this specialized armour is also fitted with an energy shield generator. When activated, it projects a unique energy field capable of deflecting heavy weapons fire," Solus Prime added.

Of course, she knew this function was not particularly useful for her father. The protective barrier generated by his own ki could withstand the explosion of a planet.

"Very good. I am extremely pleased with this suit of battle armour. Make several more for me," Axis said with a nod. Guided by the Solus Prime, he successfully donned the new suit of combat armour.

It was remarkably comfortable.

At a mere hundred kilograms, Axis could not feel its weight at all, and its flexibility was superb. Even if he transformed into the Legendary Super Saiyan and then stacked his Super Saiyan 4 form on top of that, this Power Armour would hold.

Of course, this did not include the Great Ape transformation. The armour's design had not accounted for the need to accommodate that particular form. As for the shield, he himself had little use for it, but it would be perfect for Kasha or his son.

"Lord Father, I have already produced over a hundred of these suits. Their defensive capabilities and life-support functions exceed even those of standard Terminator Armour. This should be sufficient for your daily use and attrition," the Solus Prime reported.

"Excellent. I am very satisfied," Axis affirmed.

"Your praise is my greatest reward, Lord Father. The Necron is still in the core chamber and has not left for all these years. I have confined his movements to a single area, and his existence remains unknown even to the Young Master. Over the years, he developed the phase-teleportation gear. I then replicated it, crafting the devices into the shape of rings and bracelets."

"Tell me the details of this phase-teleportation equipment." Axis was relieved. It was finally complete. If Grandu had failed to produce it, Axis had been planning to dismantle the green skeleton.

"Yes, Lord Father. This special device allows for phase-teleportation within a certain range. There are three versions. The first is a basic bracelet. This teleporter only works within the range of a city. The user must use their own line of sight for targeting. Each teleportation is followed by a cooldown of about a dozen seconds, and the stored energy is good for ten uses. After ten uses, it must be recharged. This device requires a nuclear fusion cell for power.

"There is also an upgraded bracelet.

"This version can teleport anywhere within a single continent and uses a plasma cell for power.

"The ring is the final version. It can phase-teleport across a distance of two astronomical units. The power source, which I developed together with the Necron, is driven by antimatter and can be used one hundred times before needing replacement.

"Furthermore, this ring can be set with a special coordinate, allowing the user to instantly teleport back to a designated ship in a critical moment, with no cooldown whatsoever," Solus Prime explained in detail.

When the teleporter was first designed, only the most basic version existed.

Later, she and Grandu made numerous improvements and upgrades, which finally resulted in the creation of the ring teleporter that could span two astronomical units.

A distance of two astronomical units.

This device was a powerful tool for boarding actions. Typically, opposing fleets only engaged in boarding operations when they were less than 0.01 AU apart. After all, human landing craft traveled at sub-light speeds, and covering even that short distance took several hours. This device, however, could initiate a boarding action from two AU away. It was a truly terrifying weapon.

Axis could already imagine how devastating he could be, using this teleportation ring to board enemy ships.

Its range was even greater than that of most Librarians. Only immensely powerful psykers like Kasha or Mader could teleport over such a vast distance.

The basic version was also very effective. It would allow Space Marines to instantly move anywhere within their line of sight in an urban environment, dramatically increasing their combat effectiveness.

"Excellent. How many of these teleportation devices can be produced? Can they be mass-produced?" Axis asked.

"Lord Father, the basic version can be mass-produced on a large scale. The production lines I have established can manufacture several hundred a day. I can create more production lines to increase output, but it will require a massive supply of nuclear fuel, which means we will need to construct a large factory for producing fusion cells."

Solus Prime noted that the energy consumption of the basic phase-teleporter was enormous, as a fusion cell could only support ten uses.

"The mid-tier version requires the production of plasma cells, and its manufacturing cost is over one hundred times that of the basic version. As for the advanced version, its construction is extremely difficult. It requires a very special type of material, and successfully creating an antimatter battery is also a challenge. Currently, I have only managed to produce a dozen rings."

Axis nodded as he listened, already formulating a plan.

The basic phase-teleport bracelets were highly practical and could be issued to all Space Marines. The mid-tier version seemed less versatile, but it could be given to the Company Captains as an advanced piece of equipment.

The highest-tier teleportation rings would be reserved for himself, Kasha, and their son. He could also send one to each of his brother Primarchs. This device was essentially a personal life-saving tool.

"Produce the mid-tier bracelets according to the number of Captains in the Legion. Then, focus all remaining production on the basic bracelets and the advanced rings," Axis commanded.

"I understand, Lord Father. I have also made significant progress on the superluminal engine. I successfully replicated the FTL drive and constructed an oversized version for myself. I can now travel through the universe at sixty times the speed of light. I have also produced a 40-times lightspeed version of this oversized engine, which can be installed on all of the Imperium's largest warships, including the Gloriana-class."

Her ability to complete this so quickly was inextricably linked to the help of a certain Necron, who, after all, had mastered faster-than-light travel.

Hearing this, Axis gave Solus Prime a thumbs-up. The super-Machine Spirit he had created was far more effective than those cog-boys.

He thought of them with some amusement. They had a head start and had been researching for nearly two hundred years, yet all they had managed was a twenty-times lightspeed prototype. In contrast, his ship was already mass-producing a 40c version, and Solus Prime herself could travel at 60c.

"Brilliant work. Install a 40-times lightspeed engine on my Gloriana-class battleship immediately," Axis ordered.

"As you command, Lord Father. However, you will need to approve several mineral-rich planets for my use. I will require sufficient materials."
