Marlon kept his eyes on the house after the second guard fell.
No one moved toward the entrance. The others remained behind cover, listening for a shout or the sound of someone coming to investigate.
A full minute passed.
The two bodies stayed where they had fallen. No one appeared at a window, and the nearby street remained empty.
Marlon glanced back at the group.
"Quick."
They crossed together, keeping their footsteps as quiet as they could. Sydney reached the other side almost beside him, but she checked herself before rushing ahead. She stayed close while he looked along the front of the house.
The guards had been drinking there as though they expected an uneventful night. One bottle lay near a chair, its contents slowly soaking into the ground.
Marlon looked away from it and motioned Tommy forward.
Tommy tested the door, then eased it open. He waited with one hand against the edge, listening before looking inside.
Nothing moved.
