Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 7.5: LAST SIX MONTHS II

Dark clouds covered the moon.

THUNDERRRR!

THUNDERRRR!

A single vulture sat perched on a tree on Trimurti Mountain.

"SKRRRAAA–KHRAAAH!"

"KHHH… KHHH… KRRRRAAAH…"

The sky turned pitch black. Lightning cracked through the clouds as the vulture spread its wings and flew away.

"SKRRRAAA–KHRAAAH!"

Heavy rain poured down relentlessly.

THUNDERRRR!

The next morning, the sky remained hidden behind thick clouds. The sun was barely visible. After the rain, water dripped steadily from the leaves and the roof above.

Drop… drop… drop…

That night, Lewosito ran at full speed through the Survival Path. His breath was uneven, his muscles screaming.

I have to stay alert…

Suddenly—

CRACK!

Without warning, the ground beneath his foot split open. Deadly spears burst upward from below, striking again and again from the same hole at random intervals.

"What the hell—!" Lewosito shouted, jumping back.

Beneath the ground was a spear trap machine. The moment someone stepped on the hidden trigger, the spears launched upward repeatedly—ten times in total.

KRRCH—!

KRRCH—!

KRRCH—!

Lewosito twisted his body, dodging them, but one spear grazed his arm, leaving a shallow cut.

"Tch… it's too fast!"

Gasping for breath, he forced himself to focus.

Acharya Guru said… keep your eyes and ears open. The sound will come before the trap.

He went silent.

A faint sound came from the right.

WHOOOOSH—SHHH—

Lewosito dodged just as a massive log swung past his face.

Again—

WHOOOOSH—SHHH—

Another dodge.

Traps came randomly—logs, spikes, pressure triggers—but this time, Lewosito moved with precision.

Then—

A huge stone tied to a thick rope came flying straight toward him.

This one…

Lewosito clenched his fist. Flames erupted violently around it.

As the massive stone rushed closer, he aimed his Fire Fist in that direction. The flames blasted forward with explosive force and shattered the stone mid-air, fragments scattering everywhere.

He didn't stop.

In the same instant, Lewosito grabbed a loose stone from the ground and hurled it straight ahead.

SWISH—!

The rope trap snapped out—but instead of wrapping around his ankle, it coiled tightly around the flying stone. The rope yanked hard and missed him by inches.

"…Got you," Lewosito muttered, breathing heavily.

But before he could recover—

The ground collapsed again.

Lewosito didn't fall completely. While still in mid-air, his eyes caught a thick tree root protruding from the side. He stretched his arm instantly and grabbed it, his body swinging violently as mud sprayed everywhere.

He swung back and forth, gathering momentum. With all his strength, he released the root and launched himself forward, plunging straight into a dark hole ahead.

His body slid rapidly through the narrow passage, scraping against the walls as darkness swallowed him.

Then—

He burst out from the other side.

Six months later,

Lewosito was enjoying

The river's current pulled Lewosito forward.

Water crashed against his body, but he didn't fight it. He let himself flow.

The sound of rushing water filled the air.

Slowly, the current weakened.

Lewosito planted his feet, water dripping from his clothes. He exhaled softly.

"…Haa."

He looked ahead, calm and steady.

The training was over.

He stepped out of the river and took a deep breath. Water dripped from his hair and clothes as the current flowed behind him.

"Lewosito."

He turned. Acharya Guru was standing a short distance away.

Lewosito walked toward him.

Acharya looked at him calmly. "I am proud of you. You have completed your training."

He bent down and picked something up from the ground. "This fell earlier."

Lewosito took the rubber band from his hand and quietly tied his ponytail again.

"Lewosito," Acharya continued, "when we return to the ashram, I have something important to tell you. And yes… you will receive your team."

Lewosito blinked. "My team?"

"And one big flying buddy as well."

"A flying buddy? A bird?"

Acharya gave a small smile. "Yes. But we will speak more at the ashram."

They began walking.

"Did everyone else complete their training?" Lewosito asked, adjusting his wet T-shirt.

"They finished yesterday morning," Acharya replied.

Lewosito hesitated. "Guru-ji… why was I the only one who had to complete the Run of the Survival Path?"

Acharya glanced at him briefly. "You will understand very soon."

After some time, all of them gathered.

Lewosito.

Atharv.

Aarav.

Karlos Lyron.

Acharya stood before them.

"You four are now one team."

Karan and Arjun stepped forward.

"These companions will guide you," Acharya said. "They will carry messages and assist you when needed."

He looked at Lewosito first.

"Lewosito — you will have a golden-orange eagle."

The eagle spread its wings slightly, its sharp eyes fixed on him.

"Atharv — you will have a black German Shepherd."

The large dog stood silently beside him, alert and disciplined.

"Aarav — you will have black crows."

"Caw… caw…"

Aarav stiffened. "Ahhh— death vibes…"

Atharv grabbed his collar. "Stop running. Stay here. It's your companion."

Aarav swallowed nervously. "W-Was this… the only bird you could find?"

"Be quiet, dumb boy," Arjun replied.

"And Lyron," Acharya continued, "you will receive a white crow. One of the rarest."

Lyron's eyes widened. "Interesting… interesting… I like it."

Acharya looked at all of them.

"These are your companions. Treat them with respect."

He paused.

"And now… I will tell you a story."

Lewosito tilted his head. "A story?"

"Yes," Acharya said quietly. "The story of the most powerful Asura — Hiranyas — and how he was cursed and turned into stone."

Atharv frowned. "An Asura? Who was he?"

"He was one of the strongest beings to ever exist," Acharya replied. "In his left hand — the Fire Fist. In his right — the Blackonoi Fist. His power was unmatched."

The air grew heavier.

"But because of his own mistake… three elite students defeated him."

The group fell silent.

"Who were those three?" Lewosito asked.

Acharya's eyes darkened slightly.

"The children of the great Grandmaster Sensei Kenshin Masamune… of the Kamakura Shogunate, Japan."

He paused.

"They were known as… Hikari no Seigi."

Silence spread through the ashram.

Justice of the Light.
