"The Detective Sherlock" and "The Detective's Son" premiered simultaneously, but this refers to the same week, but on different days. The anime aired on Tuesday, while the manga aired on Saturday.
Takumi watched the first episode of "The Detective's Son" at home. He didn't find it bad, but nothing more. NHK put a lot of effort into it, but the effect wasn't particularly surprising, and the songs were also very old.
"I've heard these songs. They seem to be songs from previous 'The Detective Sherlock' movies and series."
Aika told Takumi that she had indeed watched the adapted series of this novel. Although she didn't watch it seriously, it's easy to imagine how famous "The Detective Sherlock" is.
Takumi believes that old songs might evoke memories in some veteran readers. He doesn't understand if NHK's approach is right or wrong. Will attracting veteran readers displease the main age group for manga: young people?
These questions are difficult to answer. In fact, the overall quality of "The Detective Sherlock" anime is acceptable.
However, anime is different from manga. Its distribution will not be limited by channels. So Takumi can at least be sure of one thing: the two anime of "The Detective Sherlock" and "The Cat and Mouse Couple" cannot surpass "Pokémon"!
In this regard, Takumi believes that NHK is doomed to fail. Its new animation will make "Pokémon" more powerful. Unfortunately, Kanto Manga Company will not be affected. "The Detective Sherlock" is broadcast on NHK, which will only benefit its manga sales.
On Wednesday, before the launch of "Weekly Boutique", Weekly Shōjo Manga was launched first. This is Hinotori Publishing's first step to promote the new magazine. Under the cover, full of youthful atmosphere, a slogan is printed:
"Hinotori Publishing is about to launch the latest magazine: Mirai."
These words are neither big nor small. Magazine covers advertise other manga and books. Generally, it's easy to cause readers' displeasure. However, this time it's different. The new magazine's name is "Mirai," and this word makes readers ponder.
"Mirai, wasn't that what Mirai-sensei meant?"
"Wow! A new magazine. Is Mirai-sensei going to launch his own?"
The young woman who bought Weekly Shōjo Manga was very excited, but apart from the slogan, there was no further information in the weekly. The new magazine was very mysterious, which whetted her appetite.
"Mirai-sensei is going to launch a new work! Does everyone know?"
. "Has someone from inside revealed the news about the new magazine? Is there any new work by Mirai-sensei? Or does he just use Mirai-sensei's name?"
. On Mirai-sensei's home forum, readers rushed to ask questions. Takumi saw the comments and shook his head; it's not that he didn't want to reveal more content, but that it wasn't convenient for him to do so now.
A few days ago, it was finally decided that the new magazine's name would be "Mirai," with a single word. Takumi didn't think it was very good, but Alice and Shiori agreed, so he nodded.
"Mirai." When the magazine was announced to the public, it could also be called "Mirai Manga," that is, a manga magazine for Mirai-sensei. The rest of Hinotori Publishing did not object, and everything started going smoothly. However, they had problems during the approval phase.
Unlike ordinary books, newspapers and magazines in Japan must go through strict government approval procedures before publication. Only magazines with a publication number can enter the market. One publication number corresponds to one magazine, and Hinotori Publishing only has two: Weekly Shōnen and Weekly Shōjo Manga.
The approval period for magazine publication numbers is 10 business days. Alice, who had been an editor for less than a year, didn't know this beforehand. As a result, Takumi's plan to publish the magazine the following week failed.
"It will be delayed by another week...".
Takumi regretted it, but this was the bitter result of not having thoroughly researched. Now he could only temporarily reduce the promotional content. To avoid unforeseen events, he didn't even specify the date.
If all goes well, One Piece will be launched two weeks after "The Detective's Son".
"New magazine!"
However, the news that Hinotori Publishing was going to launch a new magazine still attracted a lot of attention from Kanto Manga Company.
"This is a disaster..." Sun-san was so furious he paced around his office: "Mirai-sensei wants to use a new magazine to counteract 'The Detective's Son'. No wonder he hasn't told us what the second manga is! He must be planning to launch a new manga in this new magazine!"
Duke Anthony wanted Mirai-sensei to use two manga to counteract his. Most people at Kanto Manga Company, including Sun-san, thought Mirai-sensei would use previous manga, and their sales were no better than "The Detective's Son".
They didn't question it and didn't expect Mirai-sensei to launch a new manga. As for the reason, Mirai-sensei has launched too many works in recent months: "Bakuman", "Ouran High School Host Club", and "Fate/Stay Night". It's logical that he couldn't publish a new one so soon.
"Can't he just shut up?" Sun-san asked, confused. He looked at Kazuki beside him and noticed that he was very calm: "Kazuki, doesn't it seem strange to you?"
Kazuki nodded and said lightly: "Mirai-sensei's speed has left me dumbfounded for a long time...".
He was different from Sun-san. He had seen the speed of Mirai-sensei's new works last year. He wasn't even very surprised when he published a new work this time. Perhaps the only surprise was that he didn't expect him to publish it in a new magazine.
"Minister, don't worry." Kazuki spoke to comfort Sun-san: "Weekly Shōnen's sales volume is Hinotori Publishing's maximum. Even if they launch a new magazine, they have limited time and cannot perform miracles."
"As long as the new magazine does not surpass Weekly Shōnen's circulation, we still have an advantage."
Kanto estimated that "Weekly Boutique"'s circulation would be more than half of the current one, more than double Weekly Shōnen's. In theory, as long as Hinotori Publishing's new magazine does not surpass Weekly Shōnen, Kanto will win.
"It makes sense! What you're saying makes sense. If it's a magazine... then it can't surpass Weekly Shōnen!"
Sun-san pondered. Kazuki was right. The magazine market is difficult to develop. Weekly Shōnen took a long time to reach its current sales. The number of mangaka limited Hinotori Publishing's development. A new magazine has no chance of surpassing Weekly Shōnen, unless that magazine provides a personal stage for Mirai-sensei.
But a magazine would have at least hundreds of pages. How could Mirai-sensei reach this level with so many manga under his charge?
"If he did that, it would be too exaggerated...",
Sun-san murmured, with a slight headache. Kanto had just launched an anime, and Mirai-sensei immediately launched a new magazine in response. Obviously, the boy was prepared.
"He's a little fox..."
