Chapter 2 - chapter 2: two months of silence and realization

Birds chirped happily outside the house.

but inside the wooden house of Philip residents, beside a bed of Hina and Philip. A baby laid in his bed-Free. The child of Hina and Philip

He was awake, his eye was looking Outside the window, staring at the birds chirping and moving from branch to branch.

'it has been two months ever since i woke up here'

He thought to himself, Two months, for the whole two months, he knows two thing,

First, this village is called Hayan

And second, this wasn't earth, people summoned fire and water out of thin air.

His brain questioned everything seeing people doing those things casually.

It was no less than a miracles but this was common in this world.

'Still cannot move...'

He thought, trying to move his hands and feet but they felt too heavy to even move, 2 month old, and he couldn't even lift his hands properly. Free sighed and laid in his bed staring outside again.

As he continued his staring sesssion at the blue sky, the door moved.

Hina entered inside the room with a smile, she then notice Free staring out the window, again.

"Free? Do you want to go out again?"

She asked as if he would get up and say yes.

Hina's smilde didn't wavered, and she picked him up from his bed and held him on her arms.

Free look at her

'maybe i should accept'

He thought and gave a nod.

"Well is it then!"

Hina beamed, as she rushed out of her room with Free on her arms took.

Sometime later.....

Hina walked toward the door with Free tied to her back.

"lady Hina. Going somehwere?"

Lina's calm voice came from the kitchen .

"I'm going on my usual stroll~"

Hina replied from the doorway march outside.

A little while later–

Hina was in the market, with a basket in her hand.

The sound of metal hitting against each other could be heard, vendors and merchants discussed products prices. Hina walk through the village square and buyed some breads and vegetables for dinner.

As she happily walked through the market, someone called....

"Hina! What a coincidence! "

an old lady yelled at her and tap her shoulder.

"ahh! Elder Rael! "

Hina said, seeing a woman with wrinkles in her face yet a big grin on her face.

"As energetic as always! "

Hina said as Rael stopped a few feet in front of her

"yeah! 'cause there is no back pain today"

Rael dramatically declared, then her eyes moved baby tied on Hina's back

.

" Free! "

She said, looking at his bored expression.

" Always that bored face, Philip always brags about how calm you are for two months now" she asked watching Free with a warm gaze.

"cute isn't it"

Hina said smiling proudly as she look back at Free .

"Well, philip said 'my son will grow into a fine strong man' " Rael mimicked how Philip said, pointing a stick like a sword to the sky.

"Philip is always a meathead bragging And overacting about things "

Hina said with a sigh her bread basket hitting her knees.

"Well being energetic is always good for mental health!"

Rael said laughing with hands near her lips.

"yeah, it is"

Hina said as both laugh while Free was bored.

'Haaaaah. They are having fun while i am tied back like this...'

Free thought to himself, bored of this usual unskippable chat.

Times later....

Hina prepared to go home when she stopped.

"Let's see your papa Free, might as well ask your meathead papa what he want to eat~"

she said, turning left and heding to the village hall.

At the village hall Philip was leaning on a wooden chair, his face looked bored.

"there is nothing to do atlleast let me have a little spar...." He mumbled to himself, looking around the hall, with him only the person present.

"why did chief even arrange a meeting and told me to come and hour before the meetinh!?" Philip yelled, kicking the table, The village Chief told him to come an hour before the meeting and he was 30 minutes late, Philip sigh tiredly, And he glanced at the sword on his hip.

'Maybe a little training won't hurt'

Philip placed a hand on the sword's hilt, but suddenl–

"Philip~"

A soft soothing voice came outside the meeting hall, Philip quickly knew who it was. Hina, he quickly got out of the meeting hall.

"Hina why are you here?"

he ask, then his gaze landed on Free who was staribg at him

"Ohh Free! looking bored as always!.

He quickly untied Free off of Hina's back and lifted him up from her back

"Wow, you are getting so heavy in just two months"

Philip said as he scratch free's cheek.

'Why is this man's finger hurting me'

Free thought and tried to quickly push the finger away with all the strength a 2 month old could muster.

"Look at my boy! He just pushed his father back at only 2 months old, i'm so proud of you!!"

He praised, wiping an imaginary tear off.

"Don't try to hurt our son, honey"

Hina said as she placed her hand on Philip shoulder, and worst, with a strong grip.

"Ah-ye- ys! I'll stop, so please refrain yourself or else you'll dislocate this perfect shoulder of mine!"

Philip Said in a terrifoed voice and in pain, Hina took Free back from his hand and placed the basket on Philip's head.

"Okay why was i here again....."

She thought, forgettibg why she came here

"Oh yeah! "

"What do you want for dinner tonight? " she asked with a smile on her face and Free in her arms tap her chest in frustration.

"Yeah about that? Steak? no i eat boar daily....hmmm..... Maybe a lentil soup with some vegetables"

Philip thought while his mouth drolled a little.

"Hohoho...Hina, it's been a while"

An old voice came from the left, a man with white beard covering half of his face walked toward them, it was the village chief-Hemire- single, wise, and a kindhearted man who gave a place to Hina, Philip and Lina 5 years ago.

"Chief Hemire.... How is harvesting going? " Hina asked, with a faint polite bow which Hemire acknowledge.

"Well about tha– cough!"

Hemire cought heavily, placing his hand on his mouth

"...Sorry i am a bit sick lately....and if you ask about crops they are not looking good this year. but, if no storm comes, the village won't starve"

Hemire answered while covering his mouth with his hand as he coughs again.

"Yea it has to be. if the storm comes the village will starve"

she muttered, a bit concerned but trying to maintain her smile.

"Well, if the storms come again we had to protect our precious crop"

Philip said raising his sword proudly like a hero with a wide grin on his face.

"...it will....if Philip attended the meeting seriously and won't blab about body muscles with other elders"

Hemire added as he gave Philip a side eye .

"W-well i-i have been training so i can protect our crops when storm came"

Philip added while trying to look calm.

"honey~..."

Hona's voice rea hed his ears like a gentle breeze before the storm.

"Have you been disturbing the village meetings?"

Hina asked, her face shadowed by her bangs, staring into Philip's soul, and Philip's was sweating trying to look calm but failed horribly.

"Wait! wait! dear!...i did a few time but i also train to protect the crops"

Philip tried to compromise, but Hina wasn't convinced. Her foot move and Philip took 4 steps back.

"Atleast you should try and raise your mana Philip, it is much better than your muscle trainings"

Hemire sighed while adressing him with a dissapointed face.

'Mana.....'

Free repeated the phrase in his head, Mana was the source of these things appearing out of thin air.

"But muscles and physical fights are superior!!!"

Philip yelled, flexing his abs, Hina looked away in embarrassment.

Just then–

"CHIEF!....CHIEFFFFFF!"

A man could be seen running toward their direction yelling Hemire's name yelled, scared and gasping for air .

"What happen, Why are you scared!? "

Philip asked, helping the man regain his posture.

"o-or-o..."

The man muttered, the phrase unable to come out .

"Or what?"

Hina repeated gripping Free a bit tighter in her arms.

"ORCS!!? THERE ARE ORCS NEAR THE CROPS!"

The man yelled, everyone nearby stopped at their feet, their head turning to the guy.

Slowly crowds form around the man

"Orcs! at this time? !"

a woman yelled in a scared voice.

"If they crush the crops what will we eat then? !"

Another added in frustration.

"we were worried about storms and the orcs came" a lady joked which nobody thought was funny.

"Wo woah, everyone listen!"

Philip yelled, his firm voice silencing the crowds.

"Listen! I and the adventurer guild will subjugate them as quickly as possible, so do not be worries, do not panick! "

he said raising his hands and turning his attention to the man.

"Where did you saw the Orcs?"

He ask the man.

"To the west, near the wooden river bridge"

The man answered, his breathe now stable.

"That.....is corncerning"

Hemire said, turning his attention to Philip.

"Philip quickly inform the guild and take down the Orcs before anything is damaged"

He ordered coughing softly in his palm.

"yes!"

Philip said and turn to Hina and Free.

"Dear, take Free and go home, outside isn't safe anymore"

Philip said, he eas now completely serious, but Hinna denied his advice.

"B-but honey i can fight, i am a mage!"

Hina said gripping Free tighter in her arms.

"Look this isn't about being strong, Lina is at home too, she can't fight Orcs with her papers so go. if the Orcs reach the village you can step into action then as the village's substitute guardian "

Philip added with a faint smile on his face, the grip on his sword got tighter. Hina but her lip and placed one hand on on his palm. And said–

"Be back by dinner..."

Hina and turn left slowly walked away from the meeting hall.

"Alright, bet! "

Philip mumblee, chuckling softly.

Slowly everyone left the place and ran back to their house, some called their children's to come home.

"TIME FOR SHOWDOWN AND A FEAST! " Philip yelled with a wide grin on his face.

"If you want feast go and report to the guild, i will prepare alcohol and fire for cooking meat"
