Chapter 115 - Chapter 55

Wassup guys, hope you're all doing good!

I've got some great news for those of you who love Monsterverse fics. My brother just started his own story called "Monsterverse: The Rise of the Skull King" on Webnovel. He goes by the name Fiction Guy. I'm just returning the favor since he's supported my fanfic before, so go check him out if you're interested.

But enough about that,I'm in a really good mood today,so I thought I'd do something fun. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about the story, things you didn't understand, theories, or even where you think the story might be heading.

I'll try my best to answer everything, but depending on the question, I might not give a direct answer and instead drop a few hints. Gotta keep some mystery for now.

Anyway, go ahead, hit me with your questions!

Oh, and here's today's chapter.

The SUV rolled smoothly along the coastal road as the late afternoon sun painted the sky in warm shades of orange and gold. The day had been long and chaotic.

Hours earlier they had raced through an amusement park filled with screaming roller coasters and laughing crowds. After that came the skydiving experience, and the spa had been the final stop before leaving Metropolis City.

Inside the car, the mood was relaxed and lively.

Diana sat at the wheel, one hand resting lightly on the steering wheel as the ocean breeze drifted through the open windows.

Max occupied the passenger seat beside her, quietly reading a book about animals, his sunglasses still on.

Behind them, Nina, Terra, and Thena filled the backseat with laughter.

"You should have seen your face when we jumped off that plane," Thena said, laughing as she looked at Terra. "Comedy gold."

"You literally pushed me off the plane," Terra deadpanned.

"You were chickening out on us. Someone had to do something, so I gave you a little nudge of confidence," Thena replied with a shrug.

"You caught me off guard," Terra said defensively. "I was going to take the jump. I was just preparing myself."

"Yeah right, keep telling yourself that," Nina said, shaking her head.

Thena leaned forward slightly.

"What did you enjoy the most so far, Mom?"

Diana thought about it for a moment as she kept her eyes on the road.

"The rides and the skydiving were certainly… interesting experiences," she said. "But I would say the spa and the food. I never knew there were so many varieties and flavors of ice cream."

"I know right," Thena said excitedly. "I'm definitely going back to that place someday. For me it's the food too—and the skydiving, just for that moment."

She turned toward Terra, who immediately rolled her eyes.

"Max has been mostly nonchalant about this entire trip," Nina said with a smirk. "Except for the spa, of course."

"Oh he was definitely enjoying it," Thena said with a grin.

She flipped through the photos on her phone and suddenly held it up.

"Look at this one."

It was a picture of Max lying on the massage table at the spa with his eyes rolled back in complete relaxation while the masseuse worked on his back.

"I mean seriously," Thena continued, mockingly criticizing the picture. "What is this face? I never thought I'd see Dad make this expression."

"Hand that picture over," Max said without turning around.

"Sorry, Dad, but I can't," Thena replied, holding her phone protectively against her chest. "It's too good to destroy."

"Yeah, it's way too hilarious to delete," Nina said between laughs. "You look like you were in some kind of ecstasy."

"He was literally ascending to another dimension," Thena added before bursting out laughing again.

That did it.

Terra tried to keep a straight face for a moment, but the image in her mind broke whatever resistance she had left and she burst out laughing as well.

Max slowly glanced sideways at Diana.

Even she was chuckling.

Terra wiped at the corner of her eye as she struggled to breathe.

"I swear," she said between laughs, "they weren't just massaging his back… they were massaging his soul. We just couldn't see it."

That sent the backseat into another round of uncontrollable laughter.

The car filled with the sound of it.

Max sighed and reclined in his seat, placing the book he had been reading over his face.

The laughter in the car slowly began to die down.

Nina stretched slightly in the back seat before speaking.

"I'm glad we're all enjoying ourselves," she said with a satisfied smile. "Even though some show it more than others."

She gestured toward Max.

Terra immediately caught on and started giggling again.

It took Thena a few seconds to understand what Nina meant, but when it clicked she burst out laughing as well.

"I think that's enough," Diana said with a small smile as she glanced at Max.

Max, however, had chosen the strategy of complete silence.

He didn't move the book from his face.

Just then the road curved gently along the coastline.

The view suddenly opened up.

Endless blue water stretched across the horizon, shimmering under the golden light of the late afternoon sun.

"Whoa…" Thena said quietly.

"Look at that."

Diana slowed the SUV as the beach came into view ahead.

The wide stretch of sand, rolling waves, and scattered palm trees created a peaceful scene waiting for them.

"Well…" Nina said with a grin.

"Looks like we've arrived."

Diana guided the SUV into a small sandy parking area near the beach before turning the engine off.

The moment the doors unlocked, Thena was the first to jump out.

"Finally!"

She stepped onto the warm sand, wiggling her toes slightly as she took in the breathtaking scenery stretching across the shoreline.

The ocean rolled calmly toward the beach while the late afternoon sun painted the water in shades of gold.

"Beautiful, huh?" Terra said with a grin as she walked up behind Thena and slung an arm over her shoulder.

"Yeah," Thena muttered quietly, still staring at the view.

"Let's go get some souvenirs then," Terra suddenly said before jogging off toward the shoreline.

"Hey, wait for me!" Thena called out as she quickly followed after her.

Nina and Diana stepped out of the car a moment later.

Nina walked around to the trunk and opened it before pulling out two large scrolls—one red and one green.

"You sure everything is in there?" Diana asked.

"Yeah, everything's in here," Nina replied confidently. "We just need to find a nice spot to set things up."

She scanned the beach for a moment before pointing.

"Like over there."

Diana followed her gaze toward a quiet stretch of sand not too far from the water.

She had seen Thena and Nina use storage scrolls several times by now, yet she still couldn't help being fascinated by them.

The convenience alone was incredible.

To her, the mechanics behind the scrolls almost felt like magic.

Nina walked ahead toward the spot she had pointed at earlier, the two scrolls tucked under her arm.

"This should do," she said as she stopped near a wide patch of sand not too far from the water.

Diana nodded in agreement.

The ocean breeze was gentle here, and the sound of the waves rolling in was calm and steady.

Nina knelt down and unrolled the red scroll across the sand.

"Stand back a little," she said casually.

Diana took a step back.

Nina placed her hand on the scroll and released a small burst of chakra.

A puff of white smoke burst outward.

When the smoke cleared, several items had appeared neatly on the sand: two large beach chairs, a folded umbrella, a small table, and a cooler.

Diana blinked.

"…Every time," she said quietly.

Nina smirked while dusting sand off her hands.

"Handy, right?"

Diana shook her head with a faint smile.

"I still don't fully understand how that works."

"Storage sealing," Nina replied. "Very convenient for trips like this."

Meanwhile, a short distance away, Max had wandered toward the shoreline.

He stood quietly for a moment, watching the waves as they rolled across the wet sand.

The water pulled shells, seaweed, and small pieces of driftwood back and forth with each wave.

Something dark caught his attention.

It lay half buried near the edge of the water.

Max walked closer and crouched slightly.

It was a long sea snake that had washed up onto the shore.

Dead.

Max lifted it by the tail and inspected it calmly as seawater dripped from its body.

"Hmm."

Back near the chairs, Nina finished setting up the umbrella while Diana arranged the cooler beside the table.

Diana glanced toward the shoreline.

"Where did Max go?"

Nina followed her gaze.

"Oh, he's over there."

Farther down the beach, Thena and Terra were walking along the water, occasionally kicking at the incoming waves.

They were laughing about something when Thena suddenly turned.

Her eyes landed on Max.

More specifically what Max was holding.

She froze.

"…Dad."

Max looked up.

"What?"

Thena slowly raised a finger and pointed.

"Why are you holding a sea snake?"

"It's dead," Max said calmly. "I thought you'd want to see it."

"Well I don't," Thena replied immediately.

Max stood up and casually began walking toward them, the snake dangling from his hand.

"It's harmless, really," he said. "You can even touch it… as long as you avoid the head."

Both girls immediately started backing away.

"Nope," Thena said.

"Absolutely not."

Max took another step forward.

"I told you to delete that picture," he said.

His lips slowly curled into a dark smirk.

"But what did you do?"

Terra's eyes widened.

She slowly turned toward Thena.

"Run," she muttered.

That was all it took.

Both girls bolted across the sand at full speed.

Behind them, Max jogged after them, the dead snake swinging lightly from his hand as he chased them down the beach.

And judging by the low, dark cackling coming from behind them,he really was enjoying it.
