Watching him suffer like this was breaking her apart.
Quickly, he turned on the faucet, letting the cold water gush out. He cupped handfuls of it to his face and mouth, washing everything away down the drain. Again and again, he poured the water over himself until the burning heat within finally began to fade. He ran a hand through his damp hair and felt the sharp pain in his chest slowly ease.
They remained still and silent for a while before Ivan finally spoke in a low, weary voice. "You didn't have to see that."
