Chapter 191 - Chapter 191: Cursed Book

It seemed, your mother had secretly snuck out of the church months ago, with the help of your uncle, who was already a great templar of the church. If she stayed any longer at our place, it would spell doom for the three of us." He said, with great sorrow. Even now he still couldn't accept her secret escape.

'Why did you leave, my dear Fia? You wouldn't have died if you had stayed with me! I knew a way for us to escape the hands of the church! I knew a way…' He thought in his head sorrowfully for a couple of minutes, before shakily pulling out an old and worn out book with his left hand from within his robe.

Looking at the small and light, pamphlet-like old book sorrowfully, he couldn't help but chuckle to himself in sorrow and shame, before giving it to the boy.

"Take this cursed book child. This is the book that gave your grandparents the cursed witchcraft that got them killed!

If anything happens to me, find a safe place, and drip your blood onto this book! You must then enter the portal that it creates. That portal should keep you away from the hands of our church!"

The man continued, after making sure the boy had grasped the book tightly in his right hand.

"What about you father?" The boy asked in confusion, after hearing his father's words.

"Don't worry about me child! Heed my words and follow my instructions. Those instructions were passed down to me and your uncle by your grandparents, before they passed away.

Neither I nor your uncle ever wanted the cursed witchcraft powers of that book, so we never needed to use it. But son, you're different. You need to live! Do not worry about me!

As I accompanied your grandparents in life, so shall I accompany them in death!" He said righteously, before taking a few deep breaths in order to catch his breath.

After looking around him a couple more times, he continued speaking. "Child, three years after your mother left, your uncle came back home.

When he came back, he was filled with anger and shame. He questioned my whereabouts, and told me that the future chief priestess had committed a grave sin that caused her death years ago.

She had fornicated with someone, and broken her divine oath to stay a virgin for the rest of her life. Not only that, she had a child with someone who the church was currently still looking for.
