Chapter 20 – Angel
With a light clench of his fist, the surface of Planet Gurin trembled violently beneath Tachibana Kyūjō's feet.
Feeling the condition of his body now, Kyūjō couldn't stop a small smile from forming on his face.
To be honest… transforming into a Super Saiyan was far easier than he had imagined.
Though the two battles that triggered the explosive surge of S-Cells inside him were grueling, there was no denying it—his Saiyan body was perfectly suited for the warrior's spirit within him, a spirit forged through thousands of years of training and experience from countless worlds.
It had only been twelve years since his birth in the Dragon Ball world, yet the strength he now possessed had surpassed every peak he had reached in the worlds before this one.
Super Saiyan 2 was far from the highest point of this universe, but Kyūjō was more than satisfied with the power he held now.
The Dragon Ball world truly was extraordinary.
Even with a current strength of 680 million, he had barely scratched the surface.
Just imagining the countless enemies in the future whose power would exceed even this—rather than fear, Kyūjō felt excitement simmer inside him.
Super Saiyan 2 wasn't the end. It was merely the beginning.
No… even beyond the future.
Within a few years, he was certain he could find a way to leave Universe 7.
If everything went well, he wanted to challenge Hit from Universe 6, Jiren from Universe 11, Damon from Universe 4, Basil and Bergamo from Universe 9…
And once he surpassed them all, he would finally challenge the true deities—Gods of Destruction, Angels, the Grand Priest, and even Zeno himself…
So many of the strongest beings existed within the Dragon Ball multiverse.
The power system of this universe truly defied common sense.
But as he entertained those thoughts, the rush of his Super Saiyan 2 transformation gradually settled.
Growing calm once again, Kyūjō raised his index finger. A tiny sphere of energy—no larger than a grain of rice—formed at its tip. In a swift streak of light, it shot down toward the surface of Planet Gurin, straight at the paralyzed Demon Star.
There was no thunderous blast—only a faint, razor-sharp hum as the energy pierced through the air.
And in an instant, the vicious creature of the Primordial Demon Race—who had massacred trillions of living beings across countless planets—was erased from existence.
Strangely, the planet's surface remained completely intact.
It was proof of how perfect Kyūjō's control over his power had become.
In the distance, Merus—watching this with his own eyes—couldn't help but give a small nod.
Truthfully, Kyūjō's massive surge of power earlier had shocked even the trainee Angel.
To the Angel race, fluctuations of energy like this didn't mean much. But Merus had lived among the mortals of Universe 7 long enough to understand how impossible it was for someone to reach this level of strength through pure training alone.
In all of Universe 7, only one being had ever done so without relying on external means.
Tachibana Kyūjō.
Gods were excluded—they grew under different environments and completely different systems of power.
But Kyūjō's growth rate… it defied all logic.
A dozen hours ago, his power hadn't even reached two million. It was only around 1.8 million.
True, Kyūjō had exceptional combat skills and mastery of Instant Transmission—which gave him incredible advantages—but even then, the amount of energy he possessed back then was severely limited.
But now?
Almost 700 million. His power had increased more than three hundredfold in less than a single day.
Even the legendary Super Saiyan had never experienced growth remotely close to this.
And with that, Merus was certain—Tachibana Kyūjō was undeniably a Saiyan.
Meanwhile, after eliminating the Demon Star, Kyūjō instantly teleported—appearing right before Merus in a flicker of light.
"Mr. Merus, I believe you've already guessed my true identity…" Kyūjō said, revealing the Saiyan tail he had kept hidden until now.
Merus smiled and nodded. He didn't answer, curious about what Kyūjō planned to do next. Would he attempt to eliminate him to keep his secret?
But Kyūjō—guided by the principles he had upheld through every world he lived in—had no such intentions.
And besides, joining the Galactic Patrol was never something he did with ill intent.
Now, in his Super Saiyan 2 form, Kyūjō also realized something.
He couldn't read a single trace of information from Merus using his Infinity Perception System.
The meaning was obvious: Merus's power was far beyond his own.
Realizing this, Kyūjō released his transformation, returning to his normal state.
With a friendly smile, he began explaining his life in this world to Merus.
Of course, he modified some parts—like claiming he had "accidentally drifted to Planet Namek," and only recently learned about the Dragon Balls.
Hearing his story, Merus fell silent for a moment.
A Saiyan unlike any other—not brutal, not hungry for destruction.
A prodigy in battle, yet calm, noble-hearted, and—shockingly—someone who had already touched the boundary of Ultra Instinct at only twelve years old…
Merus even found himself wondering, half-jokingly: How old am I again…?
But in the end, he believed him.
One thing justified his trust: Ultra Instinct.
It wasnot a technique one could master with ambition or malice in their heart. Only those whose minds and spirits were pure could ever approach that realm.
Merus placed a hand on Kyūjō's shoulder and spoke softly:
"Kyūjō, when we return, I'll take you to meet Captain Zoffy. We'll explain everything honestly."
"I trust you. And I believe our comrades in the Galactic Patrol will trust you too."
"Not all Saiyans are evil. If that was how they once were… then be the first Saiyan to become a good one."
Kyūjō smiled and nodded firmly, then looked at Merus with a puzzled expression.
He felt… Merus was a truly kind person. Yet extremely mysterious.
Without beating around the bush, Kyūjō asked directly:
"Mr. Merus… who exactly are you?"
"I can sense it… you're incredibly strong. Stronger than anyone I've ever faced."
"If you don't want to answer, I won't force you. I'm just… curious."
Hearing that, Merus let out a short sigh.
"Your perception abilities really are incredible, Kyūjō… All right, I'll tell you. But promise me—don't tell anyone."
Kyūjō nodded earnestly.
"What I'm about to say might be hard to accept. But this is the truth of this universe. Be prepared."
Merus began explaining the structure of the Dragon Ball multiverse: the Twelve Universes, the Supreme Kai, the Gods of Destruction, the Angels who maintained universal balance… and the immense powers they wielded.
---
"So the one standing before you… is me—Merus, a Trainee Angel," Merus said proudly as he looked at Kyūjō.
Kyūjō paused for a moment, then gave an expression as though he had finally put the pieces together.
But his reaction was too calm.
So calm that Merus suddenly wondered…
Did I explain it too complicatedly?
Does he even understand what it means to be an Angel…?
