Chapter 319 - The Golden Feast

Chapter 22 – The Golden Feast

Inside Lord Frieza's space cruiser.

The moment Frieza's trembling voice slipped out—uttering the name Beerus—the atmosphere within the ship shifted instantly.

Everyone under Frieza's command finally noticed the presence of two figures who, for some reason, had appeared right in the middle of the room without anyone sensing them: the God of Destruction, Beerus, and the Angel, Whis.

"W-who are you?! How did you suddenly show up in here?!" one of Frieza's soldiers shouted, pointing directly at the two. But before he could even finish his sentence—

In an instant, Frieza, who had been frozen stiff moments ago, suddenly moved.

With a flick of his finger, a Death Beam shot out, piercing straight through the soldier's heart.

Without wasting a second, Frieza awkwardly hopped down from his floating hover-pod and dropped to his knees before Beerus, bowing so low his forehead pressed against the floor of the ship.

Only then did he speak, his voice full of trembling fear.

"Welcome, Lord Beerus…"

The remaining soldiers stared blankly at the scene, stunned for a moment. But soon enough, they all followed—kneeling at the exact same time.

None of them were stupid. If their superior had already prostrated himself, how could they dare remain standing?

And the fool who questioned Beerus earlier… was already dead.

Beerus stood with his hands folded behind his back, eyes cold as he looked down at the shivering Frieza. He didn't utter a single word.

His gaze alone was sharp enough to freeze blood, pressing down like a divine weight. Frieza's trembling grew worse, as though his bones were turning to ice.

After several seconds that felt like an eternity, Beerus finally let out a soft snort and spoke.

"Frieza… Did you forget the task I gave you long ago?"

Still glued to the floor, Frieza immediately lifted his head and answered in a frantic rush,

"How could I ever forget, Lord Beerus…? The task you entrusted to me—I have fulfilled it every single year without fail! In fact… I believe the numbers have always exceeded your expectations! If you wish, I can order my subordinates to bring the records—"

Beerus stared at him for a moment before replying coolly,

"No need. I know you wouldn't dare lie to me."

"Now, tell me about this Galactic Patrol. Because of him, the number of planets destroyed in recent years has dropped drastically."

"Just because of one person, every criminal in the universe has been living in fear? You all are… truly worthless."

Frieza swallowed hard, not daring to argue. His eyes darted briefly before he spoke in an obsequious tone,

"Lord Beerus… I don't know much about the Galactic Patrol himself, but one thing is certain—his power is truly extraordinary."

"Even my father, King Cold, couldn't fight back before being killed by him."

"And it's not just his strength. He possesses a spaceship that's unbelievably advanced! They say that ship can reach any location in an instant."

"That's why nearly every major fugitive in the universe trembles the moment they hear his name."

"Besides that… there's a rumor that inside his ship, there's a special kitchen called the 'Golden Feast,' and from that kitchen comes the most delicious food in the entire universe…"

As Frieza spoke, he secretly glanced toward Beerus.

Just as he expected, both divine beings—Beerus and Whis—instinctively swallowed.

Seeing Frieza's sidelong look, Beerus glared at him sharply.

"Continue."

Frieza quickly lowered his head again, speaking with renewed politeness.

"Once the Galactic Patrol sets his sights on a target, there's no running. No hiding."

"And they say… he is extremely cruel. Not a single fugitive who has faced him has survived."

"More than that, he's known to toy with his prey before killing them. Even if his opponent is far weaker, he still mocks and tortures them first. Someone like that… honestly, even we criminals find him terrifying."

"Lord Beerus, if the criminals across the universe are terrified… can you really blame them? Even I'm starting to consider retiring and living as a proper citizen…"

"For this year, I've still completed the task you gave me… but next year… I can't make any promises…"

After delivering that calculated plea, Frieza lowered his head even further—but he continued stealing glances upward, waiting for Beerus's reaction.

After a long pause, Beerus finally asked in a sharp tone,

"About that ship… you're certain you're not exaggerating? And the 'Golden Feast'—is the food from there truly that good?"

Still kneeling, Frieza nodded quickly.

"It's no exaggeration, Lord Beerus. The rumor has been circulating for years among the inner circles of the Galactic Patrol. Many outside that circle have heard of it as well."

Beerus let out a small smile and nodded slightly.

"Very well. Frieza, regarding this Galactic Patrol—I'll take care of him for you."

"But remember—unless you die, the task I assigned you cannot be ignored. Every year, you must continue fulfilling it."

"And as compensation for me handling this matter, for the next three years, you will destroy an additional 5,600 planets."

"This time, the planets must be selected randomly from every corner of the universe. Don't concentrate them in one region. And if you fail to complete this within three years…"

"…then I will personally end your life."

After delivering that ultimatum, Beerus and Whis vanished from Frieza's ship in an instant.

Meanwhile, Frieza could only collapse weakly onto the floor.

On one hand, he had successfully drawn Beerus's interest toward his enemy, Tachibana Kyūjō—the Galactic Patrol.

But on the other…

5,600 planets in three years, scattered across the entire galaxy?

Even with three years, this would be nothing short of hellish labor.

Out in the void of space, Beerus drifted calmly with a look of pure satisfaction on his face.

"Whis, you know where we're heading now, don't you?" Beerus asked.

Hearing that, Whis chuckled softly, covering his mouth with a fingertip.

"Of course, Lord Beerus. We are heading toward that legendary kitchen—the 'Golden Feast,' yes?"

Beerus nodded firmly before asking again, "Whis, do you think the food from that kitchen is truly as amazing as Frieza claims?"

Whis shook his head lightly, smiling.

"Perhaps not that miraculous… But Frieza wouldn't dare lie to you, Lord Beerus. So I'm certain the food there must be exceedingly delicious."

Beerus's eyes sparkled with anticipation.

"I think so too."

And so, the two divine gluttons—beings meant to preserve cosmic balance—had now completely forgotten their primary duties.

All because of a culinary legend known as the "Golden Feast."
