Chapter 368 - Guardians of the Galaxy

Chapter 28 – Guardians of the Galaxy

Even though Kyln Prison was known as the most heavily guarded prison in all of Xandarian territory, it had to be admitted—

Its system was surprisingly… humane.

This was a prison that housed creatures from countless races across the galaxy. Men and women were even placed within the same facility. Every inmate was given a private room, complete with their own bathroom.

On top of that, prisoners were granted twelve hours of free time every day to move around inside the prison complex.

As long as they didn't try to escape, they were free to do pretty much anything—start fights, cause chaos, or even… sit around and try to build alien linguistic structures for fun. The guards wouldn't interfere.

— — —

When Blake Thorne and his group—made up of three humans, one raccoon, and one tree-like entity—received their sleeping gear and stepped into the main hall of the prison, a tall, bulky alien with bluish-gray skin suddenly approached them.

Blake couldn't help commenting in his head.

That alien looked like a human corpse that had been soaked in formalin for a few days.

It quickly became clear that the creature had been watching them.

More specifically, it was watching Blake.

And something about its gaze made Blake deeply uncomfortable.

When the alien reached out, trying to touch him, Blake fought down the wave of disgust. If he remembered correctly, in the original version of Guardians of the Galaxy, this disgusting thing had actually targeted Star-Lord instead…

But now it had changed targets?

Interested in him?

Great. After traveling through so many worlds, this was already the second time someone had tried to do something indecent to him.

Blake was just about to disable the creature—

When, to his surprise, the alien suddenly stopped. It pointed at Blake, then at Star-Lord, who was standing there watching the whole thing while casually munching on a snack, and let out a loud, echoing roar:

"Him… and him! Both of them are mine!"

Blake: …

Star-Lord: …

Without saying a word—and before Groot could even move—Blake raised a finger.

A dark purple Special Beam Cannon fired in a straight line.

In an instant, the disgusting alien dropped to its knees, clutching its severely injured body part as it screamed in agony.

The shocking scene plunged the entire hall into silence.

As Blake calmly walked toward his cell, expressionless, every other inmate instinctively clutched their pants shut and stepped aside to make way.

— — —

Even though they were completely baffled by how Blake had done that, Star-Lord and the others weren't close enough to him yet to ask questions.

They hurriedly followed behind him and found their own cells.

None of them noticed, though—

From within the crowd of inmates, a massive, muscular man with gray skin covered in red patterns was staring straight at Gamora in their group.

That man was Drax the Destroyer.

His wife and daughter had been killed by Ronan the Accuser.

And since Gamora was known as one of Ronan's allies, the hatred burning in Drax's chest toward her was impossible to contain.

Even though Blake's presence had slightly disrupted the original flow of events, what came next still unfolded almost exactly the same.

The next day, after confirming that Gamora had no special relationship with Blake, Drax led his followers in the prison to attack her with knives, successfully knocking her down.

Fortunately, Star-Lord showed up just in time. With his trademark silver tongue, he managed to convince Drax to delay his revenge.

After that, Gamora, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Drax all went together to Blake's cell.

They revealed their plan.

They wanted to break out of prison and sell the Orb—the Cosmic Sphere.

— — —

"So what you're saying is," Blake said, casually pulling the Orb out from nowhere, "you want me to escape this prison with you, then take the Orb that's in my hands, sell it, and split the profits evenly. That about right?"

Star-Lord scowled, clearly still unwilling to admit how capable Blake really was.

"The Orb is something I found," he shot back stubbornly. "You just… tricked me and stole it."

Rocket Raccoon cut in seriously, "Without us, you won't be able to get out of this prison alone. And besides, you can't pilot a spaceship by yourself."

Groot looked at Rocket, made a deliberately scary face, and rumbled,

"I am Groot~"

Drax, eyes blazing with vengeance, stared straight at Blake.

"I seek revenge. Anyone who stands in my way will be killed."

Gamora, on the other hand, spoke calmly, as if she were simply offering advice.

"Ronan is also looking for the Orb. No matter how strong you are, you won't be able to face his army alone if we don't work together."

Hearing all of that, Blake just smiled.

Then he said:

"Let's do this instead. I'll give you another option. I'm planning to form a team called the Guardians of the Galaxy."

"Come with me."

"As for the Orb… weren't you planning to sell it to The Collector for four billion galactic credits?"

"Fine. I'll pay you four billion myself. Don't worry about the money."

"I'm actually an intergalactic bounty hunter too. My call sign is…"

"God of Destruction."

The moment those words left his mouth, Star-Lord, Rocket, and the others froze.

Star-Lord stared at Blake with eyes wide open.

"You're saying you're the God of Destruction? The only Triple-S Class Hunter in the entire history of the Galactic Hunter Alliance?"

Rocket looked just as doubtful as he asked,

"A year ago, the strongest pirate group in this sector, the Sirius Space Pirates, sent over a thousand warships to attack the black market hub on Planet Rabechina."

"To defend the planet, the traders posted a high-reward protection mission with the Hunter Alliance. Almost every bounty hunter in the surrounding sectors took the job."

"But before the pirate fleet even reached orbit, the legendary God of Destruction wiped them all out alone in deep space."

"That was you too?"

Blake nodded with a light smile.

"Not wiped out. Eradicated."

"Back then, I actually let a few of them live—so I could follow their trail and find the Sirius Space Pirates' main base."

"You haven't noticed? Over the past year, there hasn't been a single report of piracy from them anymore. Right?"

In an instant, realization dawned on everyone.

Groot spoke up excitedly,

"I am… Groot~!"

Blake reached out and gently patted Rocket on the head, speaking in a relaxed tone.

"Well then, little raccoon. Didn't you say you had a plan to break out of here?"

"Go on. Let's hear it."
