Chapter 18 - Dungeon Ventures

[IMPROVEMENT ARC]

(2 MONTHS LATER)

James had used the location Ein had told him of as his safe house and practiced magic and combat for a couple of months. After training for those months, James eventually got to a point where he had been powerful but was lacking in experience fighting strong opponents.

(SCENE)

James and Ein are in the training room located within the basement of the safe house.

James Belfork: "Ein, it's been a couple of months now, and I've gotten decently strong, but my system hasn't updated, and its requirements to upgrade have changed."

Ein Felheart: "Yeah, and what about it? Whats do you even need to do to upgrade the system now?"

James Belfork: "It says that I should kill full blooded demons and absorb their mana."

Ein Felheart: "..."

Ein Felheart: "Oh, your done for, kid. Full blooded demons are some dangerous sons of bitches."

James Belfork: "Even as strong as I am currently, you still think those demons will win against me?"

Ein Felheart: "Don't get arrogant, it's that type of thinking that will get you killed."

James Belfork: "Okay, then what does their strength look like, for you to say that I'm a goner since I need to kill them to upgrade my system?"

Ein Felheart: "You see…, Full blooded demons are an ancient race of demonic kind, that had been banished from the Demon empire due to their immortality and presence within the 'modern' demon society."

James Belfork: "You know that what your saying right now is a bunch of useless gibberish."

Ein Felheart: "..."

Ein Felheart: "Kid, just let me finish my story and you'll fucking understand what I'm trying to explain to you, you impatient bitch."

James Belfork: "..."

James Belfork: "Well, continue then."

Ein Felheart: "Where was I? Oh yeah. The ancient demons had been banished from demon kind due to their meddling with a bunch of things and the fact that they were immortal."

James Belfork: "Yeah…"

Ein Felheart: "But that was over tens of thousands of years ago. And within that time, they grew more powerful, as over the generations of demon kind, there life span dropped, till it plateaued at about 300 years."

Ein Felheart: "In the time it took for the ancient demons to become stronger, the new gen demons had become weaker than their ancestors due to little conflict, but are still stronger than humans."

Ein Felheart: "At some point in time, the ancient demons started a war with the new gen demons and murdered all of them, leaving only a few colonies behind.'

James Belfork: "I still don't understand how this means I'm fucked though?"

Ein Felheart: "You dumbass, didn't they teach you anything about demons in school?"

James Belfork: "Well, they said that they had been stronger than the average aptitude rank B person by a bit, but that's nothing to really worry about, is it?"

Ein Felheart: "Okay, let me put this into perspective for you right now, since it seems you've lost a few brain cells since becoming stronger."

James Belfork: "..."

Ein Felheart: "Since 1 New gen demon is equal in strength to a B-rank, that means they're a treat to the average person who's a C-rank and a heavy challenge for those who are B-rank themselves, right?"

James Belfork: "Right."

Ein Felheart: "So, using that knowledge, and looking at your skill level right now, since you reached about EX-rank right now, you'd likely be able to take on a few hundred new gen demons, before it starts to become a challenge for you, correct?"

James Belfork: "Yep"

Ein Felheart: "So, using this information, and the fact that a Full blooded/Ancient Demon can fight tens of thousands of new-gen demons alone, how do you think you could beat them?"

James Belfork: "Ohh. I see what you mean now."

Ein Felheart: "At least it finally got through that thick skull of yours, that you'd likely die if you were to go up against Full blooded demons with your current strength.

James Belfork: "So how long do you think it'll take me to become strong enough to defeat them?"

Ein Felheart: "That all depends on you, kid, but you should probably start raiding dungeons or more ruins soon so that you can get stronger faster with that gluttony skill of yours."

James Belfork: "Yeah, that'd probably be a good idea."

(SCENE)

James asks Ein for dungeons nearby their area, and sets out on a small adventure to level up and kill some monsters so he can become even stronger, for the day that he sees Fae again, so he can torture him all he wants, without there being anyone that can stop him.

Ein tells James that there should be around 10 dungeons near their area, so they head out in search of the closest dungeon to the safe house, so James can get even stronger.
