Cate had lived a very long time. The moment she saw the creature bound by chains that looked to be made from gold, she understood that this pyramid was not a tomb like most. It was a prison, and the prisoner was something that no living being would want to ever come face to face with. Unfortunately, she had already led her team to this place, and there was no turning back. The best thing they could do now was fight with their lives on the line.
She channeled her magic into the earth and cast her spell in less than a second. As a sorcerer, she did not have to chant most spells out loud since her will reached directly into the magic. The spell she cast was very simple, and so she quickly completed it before she found herself in a completely foreign world. She was not just in a new world; she was a completely different version of herself.
In this life, Cate had been reborn, just as she had been in the real world. Everything seemed normal except that this was over one hundred years in the future. When Cate looked around, she saw that she was in a well-decorated room that had all the best amenities the world could offer. The mattress was softer than air, and the sheets were made of a magical material that made silk and cotton feel like sand.
Cate remembered her time in the pyramid, but as the seconds moved on, she forgot what had happened and accepted her new life. She fell back on the bed and closed her eyes with a sigh of relief. She was truly happy, and nothing could make the situation any better. When she was about to fully immerse herself in this world, Cate remembered her vengeance. She remembered the deaths she owed and the pain she had to repay. Her eyes opened faster than they had closed.
"I am Medusa. Vengeance will be mine," she cried out loud. In the next moment, a young girl about ten years old opened the door to the room and ran to the bed. "Mommy," she cried out with a beautiful smile on her face. Cate was caught off guard. The young girl hugged Cate tightly as she giggled and smiled. The young girl was followed by Mary, who came out of nowhere. "You like to sleep in, but it's already noon. We have plans for lunch with the neighbors," Mary said.
After this shock, Cate fell into this world, and her mind was engulfed. Time moved on, and everything was perfect. Cate and Mary were married, and they lived with their daughter in bliss. Things could not be any better. Cate was happy for the first time in her life. She also suddenly remembered having taken her revenge on the gods, killing so many of them that the few who remained lived in fear, hidden away in their collapsing kingdoms. There was no chance of them ever coming back from this fall. With the age of the gods having come to an end, the world finally realized how much of their freedoms and fate had been bound by the whims of the gods. The Age of Reason began, and Cate could finally enjoy the results of her sweat and blood.
On this day, Cate was walking down the street with Mary by her side. They were talking about something completely mundane when Cate suddenly felt her soul tremble as though thunder had been set off within. Cate stopped walking. Mary turned back and smiled at her. "Come, let's go," she said with a smile that could bring about the fall of devils and gods. Cate smiled back at her, but there was something more in her eyes, something that had not been there in a long time. It was resolved to do whatever was necessary to get what she wanted.
Cate moved in and kissed Mary deeply. Their tongues fought a short battle before they moved apart. "I guess you are the closest thing I have to a weakness in this new life. Still, my vengeance will never be watered down, even by something as great as love." Mary looked at Cate with confusion, but Cate was done talking. She suddenly changed. Suddenly, she was a creature of legend.
Her eyes turned into stone gems, and her hair was replaced by a mass of living black snakes that moved around with a will of their own. Her transformation was still going on, but Cate did not wait for it to be completed since this was enough. "Wahhahaaaaaaahajjaa," Cate screamed at the world. The snakes on her head moved around in a strange rhythm that did not agree with the world. Mary turned into stone in less than a second, but this was not the end of this power. It moved through the world, turning everything into stone.
People screamed and ran away as fast as they could, but there was nowhere to run. Every living thing in the world turned to stone, and on top of this, even the water, the sky, metal, and everything else turned to stone. Nothing was spared. Cate remained in the world all alone, with her eyes filled with a rage that could burn all things to cinder. "Waaaaaaahaaa," she cried out a second time, and this time, the world trembled at her endless fury. It cracked and fell apart.
In the next second, Cate found herself back in the golden hall with the creature looking at her. There was a spear made of rock that had come out of the earth and pierced through Cate's left leg. This was the spell she cast in a hurry just a few seconds ago. She had felt the strange power coming from the creature and realized that it wanted to pull her into a world of illusions, a world from which she would never awaken. She was pulled into the strange world and lived there for years, but it was in fact only the few seconds it took for her spell to act and create an earth spear that shot through her leg. The pain from this attack on herself was what shocked her soul into remembering what was important to her. The earth spear retreated into the floor, and the hole in Cate's leg closed in a second. This was her new healing ability that she gained after using the Origin Spell. This ability was strengthening with each passing second.
