Chapter 376 Father and Daughter
When that massive divine dragon surged into the sky, Brett could clearly hear the sincere fear in the hearts of the samurai on the surrounding ships.
This was natural. The monster before them was the demon who'd ruled Wano these past dozen years.
Even the invincible Kozuki Oden had fallen to him back then.
And during these dozen years, Wano's samurai hadn't stopped resisting, but all resistance proved futile. All they'd received was continuous slaughter.
Wano's samurai—their spines had long been completely broken by the monster named Kaido.
Without the support of the Red Scabbard samurai sworn to avenge their lord even unto death, these forces couldn't have been assembled at all.
Moreover, even if Kawamatsu and the other Red Scabbards didn't have Brett as powerful reinforcement, they wouldn't have had the courage to battle Kaido.
After all, even their lord Kozuki Oden had lost to Kaido.
"Hey, Brett—the enemy's challenging you."
Tesoro grinned.
Brett's lips curved. The next instant, his body likewise transformed into a dragon, ascending skyward.
The surrounding samurai witnessed this scene and stood instantly dumbstruck.
"He... he turned into a dragon!"
"It's the same dragon as Kaido!"
"What is that man?!"
The samurai felt utterly bewildered.
However, Brett completely ignored these samurai's thoughts.
Flame clouds carried him, letting him drift toward Kaido.
"Wait! Brett!"
Right then, a white shadow suddenly shot up from below.
It was Yamato.
She'd jumped directly into midair.
When Brett looked down, he could see the woman's beautiful face now filled with complete seriousness.
"Take me with you! I want to talk with that bastard father!"
Brett heard her say this, then smiled.
Flame clouds flowed down like a waterfall, sweeping up Yamato. Just like that, Brett brought her along as they flew to high altitude, confronting Kaido from a distance.
Two dragons—one blue, one red. In terms of size, little difference. Aside from color, their appearances were nearly identical.
They looked almost like twin brothers.
"Worororororo!! Brett!! You bastard are quite arrogant—invading my territory single-handedly?!"
Kaido's voice rumbled like thunder, spreading in all directions.
Below on the ship's bow, Tesoro felt quite dissatisfied with Kaido's statement.
"What do you mean fighting alone? Does this bastard not count me as a person?!"
He'd come to Wano together with Brett!
Nekomamushi and Inuarashi laughed awkwardly.
They'd also come together.
Brett chuckled softly. "After all, it's just Wano. A mere Beasts Pirates—I shouldn't need much preparation."
His lips curved upward. "Last time I came to Wano, didn't I already demolish Onigashima? Quite impressive you could rebuild it."
The smile on Kaido's face faded slightly. He certainly hadn't forgotten the thorough beating Brett had given him during that last visit to Wano.
That time he'd fully realized Brett's strength—even willing to join forces with Charlotte Linlin to deal with him. But unfortunately, Charlotte Linlin had now fallen.
"Don't judge me by old standards, you bastard!"
Kaido snorted coldly. "Since you still dare appear before me, this time watch me grind you into mincemeat bit by bit!"
"I'm looking forward to it."
Brett just smiled casually.
Empty threats meant nothing.
"And—"
Kaido's pupils shifted, looking toward Yamato floating to the side, standing on Brett's flame clouds.
"Yamato! You idiot finally dare appear before me?!"
Yamato took a deep breath. Brett noticed her hands trembling slightly.
Though she'd long prepared herself, actually standing before Kaido—her emotions were somewhat complex.
"Bastard father!"
Yamato shouted loudly. "Leave this nation!"
"Still spouting such foolish nonsense, you idiot?" Kaido sneered. "If you obediently return to my side right now, I might consider sparing your life!"
"I can't do that!"
Yamato said seriously. "These past years I've witnessed this nation's people's misery. Though I won't say 'I am Kozuki Oden' anymore, I truly have inherited that man's will!"
"I can't keep watching you plunge this nation's people into hell!"
"Idiot! I actually raised such a fool!!"
Kaido roared furiously. "The strong dominate the weak! The strong trample the weak! This is the world's rule!!"
Yamato had already gripped her kanabo tightly. No more hesitation remained on her face. "Perhaps this world is that terrible, but I don't like it!"
"When I was locked in that cave nearly starving to death, I hoped someone would save me. I know the joy of being saved. So now, I'm willing to answer the weak's expectations—stand forth for them!"
Brett's lips curved slightly.
Remarkable, Yamato. You've completely grown into a remarkable person!
Claiming the world is cruel so you'll just go with the flow—that's not remarkable.
Truly great people maintain gentle hearts even facing a cruel world.
That's why he'd rather ally with Yamato than with Kaido.
Brett smiled.
"Utterly foolish!!"
Kaido roared. Flames were already brewing in his great maw. "Since you've decided to stand against me, then take your foolish ideals and die, Yamato!!"
"Heat Breath!!"
Scorching flames thundered forth.
"Go, Yamato. Do what you want to do."
Brett released the flame clouds holding Yamato. He smiled as he charged toward the flames. "Leave this to me."
"Ohhh!!"
Yamato responded loudly. Her body fell straight toward the ocean below.
"Then come, Kaido."
Brett chuckled softly, then likewise opened his mouth. "Heat Breath!!"
Even more scorching, more massive pillar of flame erupted. Golden fire like a light wave instantly collided with Kaido's flames.
A massive explosion formed a small sun in midair.
This was the salute cannon beginning the war!
"Attack!!!"
On the ships at sea, Kawamatsu drew his long sword, roaring furiously.
"Ohhhhh!!!"
Accompanied by high-spirited responses, the battle began.
