Chapter 27 - Lots Of Questions But Fewer Answers

The title says it all, really. Though working on this did take me a while.

*Inside the Spider Cave.*

"I can't believe we are sat to babysit this new guy when he rarely shows up." Huntsman groans in annoyance as he and Strong Spider entered Syntrax's lab room.

"Then why are you coming in here while I'm busy working?" Syntrax lifted his goggles and turned from his work to glance over at the two. "I don't trust him anymore than that child, but I wouldn't question my Queen's decision."

"I need something to keep track of this guy, he keeps disappearing whenever we aren't watching him." Huntsman explained, crossing his arms.

"He is more slippery than a snake." said Strong Spider.

Syntrax let out a frustrated sigh. "Fine, I'll make something that can keep track of him. Now get out of my lab so I can get to work."

Huntsman and Strong Spider left the room and went on to try and find Huangse Xing somewhere in the caves.

Syntrax pulled his goggles back down over his eyes and got to work. "I still don't get what he meant when asking how to kill a wish. That doesn't make any sense."

*With Huangse Xing.*

"Hmmm..." Walking up to the furnace, Huangse was taking a curious look at it. "I'm surprised the others haven't caught on to your little plan, none the less the Spider Queen."

"The less they know the better, as destiny already has a plan for them." said the mysterious child as she was looking at the design of the giant mech that was being worked on.

"Destiny works in many ways, but whatever it is, good or bad isn't for me to decide." said Huangse, turning his attention over to the child.

"You people were never ones to mess with other people's decisions." said the child, glancing over at him. "So I must admit, I was surprised when you showed up and offered to help with my little wish problem."

"We don't make it a habit to mess around with people's problems. But this wish isn't just a problem for you but also for us, as we can't let it wandering around anymore." Huangse explained with a calm expression but a small hint of annoyance.

"I've done a lot of reading throughout my years, but never have I found any info about an immortal wish. Let alone even now, with the lack of info there." said the child as she let out a sigh.

"That is because there has never been an immortal wish before, it is taboo for a wish to become immortal." Huangse pulled a hair from his head and dropped it in the furnace. "It was an impressive move trying to kill her in the dream realm, but even if you did. She would still be alive when returning to the real world. With the only effect being the pain she felt from it."

The child watched him drop a piece of hair into the furnace as a yellow glow appeared from it before returning to normal. "Then how are you meant to kill a wish?"

Huangse took a seat on a chair and leaned slightly back as he was getting comfortable. "Now that is the right question to ask." A smirk grew on his face looking at her before it quickly disappeared. "A normal wish is easy to kill in any way, but an immortal wish is a lot more tricky and has fewer ways to kill it."

Letting out a sigh, Huangse took a look at his hands for a moment and then back up at her. "I have little time left until I need to leave, so I'll give you something to start with."

Just then Huntsman and Strong Spider entered the room as Huangse was about to tell her the first step.

"Found ya!" Huntsman walked straight over to Huangse, already looking done for the day. "Just because our Queen let you stay around to help. Doesn't mean you can walk around as if you own the place."

Huangse looked at him with a raised eyebrow while looking all calm. "Nice seeing you too, but why do you look like you got stepped on, Spidey?"

One of Huntsman's eyes started twitching in annoyance, already hating Huangse the more he had to be in the same room as him. "What did you just say—"

Huangse had gotten up from his chair and handed Huntsman a cup of tea as he patted his head. "How about some tea, my guy, I've heard it helps calm someone's body and mind."

Huntsman looked at the tea and then at Huangse as he repeated that a few times before throwing the cup of tea onto the ground, causing the cup to shatter with the tea now on the ground. "I know what you are doing, and don't think I'm gonna fall for it?!"

"Well that's also a way to spill the tea, I guess." said Huangse with a confused expression on his face.

Huntsman went on to grab the collar of Huangse's shirt and forced him to look face to face. "Don't think for a fact I believe you are actually here to help my Queen, no one just walks in and offers to help without hiding something."

Huangse looked at him and then over at the child with a raised eyebrow, she just turned around and had her focus back on the image of the mech.

"Are you even listening to me?!" Huntsman started shaking Huangse, trying to get his attention.

"Huh? Oh, yeah I heard you." said Huangse, smiling at Huntsman as he patted his head. "Don't worry your little head Spidey, I wouldn't dare to go behind someone's back. It isn't in my nature, so you can relax, I wouldn't hurt your Queen in any way."

"Would you stop doing that, you brat!" shouted Huntsman, as it felt like he wasn't being taken seriously.

"... Sorry Spidey, but I'm gonna have to leave now. Can't stay here all day." Huangse pulled himself free and started walking away. "Looks like we will have to talk at another time, little miss." He said leaving the room as he snapped his fingers, and a small piece of paper appeared in front of the child with information on the first step.

"Wha–Hey we aren't finished here, brat!" Huntsman ran after him with Strong Spider, only to find out he wasn't anywhere to be found.

*In the Dream Realm.*

"Can we please take a break already?" Miwa was breathing heavily, with broken trees lying around her.

"Come now, don't break down on me now, Freckles." Macaque walked over with his staff resting on his shoulders. "Wasn't it you who said that you wouldn't stop until you could do that move. You did a week ago? At that idiot's storage room?"

"... Yeah I guess I did.... But I haven't been able to do it since then. Not in the real world or this world." Miwa using her staff as support so she wouldn't fall over from exhaustion.

Macaque let out a sigh and had his staff disappear as he stood in front of her. "Okay then let's try something else."

"Like what? We've already tried everything, and nothing has worked." said Miwa looking at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Where are we right now, Starlight?" Macaque asked, crossing his arms.

Miwa had a puzzled look on her face at this question before rolling her eyes in slight annoyance. "In the dream realm, inside your dream. Which I'm surprised you were able to figure out, nothing of this is real, when we first started training here."

"Correct." said Macaque, and poke her on the forehead with his tail. "So why don't we change it up a bit? Try using your powers to change the dream to look like where you first time used that move."

"I'm not sure, that's how my powers work, Papa." Miwa groans annoyed but also from exhaustion.

"Not with that attitude, missy." said Macaque, rolling his eyes. "Just give it a try."

Miwa let out a heavy sigh and closed her eyes, trying to change the dream they were in.

Macaque watched her closely until he started noticing a red glow coming from her. Giving off a different presence was standing in front of him. Though he tried not thinking anything about it, since he and Miwa had figured out that any thoughts he might have in his dreams. Would be echoing all around them for them both to hear as if he had been speaking out loud.

Miwa tried focusing until she felt a sharp headache, causing her to snap out of it and fall to the ground holding her head. "I-I can't do it."

"..... Alright maybe not the best idea." Macaque gently placed a hand on her head. "Let's stop for tonight and try again tomorrow."

Miwa glanced up at him, pouting a little. "Can't we take a break tomorrow, please?"

"No." said Macaque, flicking her forehead.

"Ah!" Miwa placed a hand to her forehead. "You're worse than Dad."

"Good, that means I'm actually doing a good job at training you." said Macaque with a smirk.

Miwa stuck out her tongue in annoyance before opening a star-like portal. "See you tomorrow."

Macaque watched her as she went through the portal and was then gone, and soon enough the control of his dreams was gone, and he could dream in peace without any notice of the shift in it all.

*In the Real Realm.*

Miwa jumped out of Macaque's dream and let out a heavy sigh as she landed in an old chair, groaning in pain. "Stupid side effects, it never gets any easier."

Slowly turning around in the chair, Miwa wrapped her arms around herself as she tried breathing slowly through the pain until it would go away.

With a sigh, she glanced out of a window and up at the sky, where she could see the wishing stars. "Why so quiet? Did you idiots finally decide to shut up and leave me alone?"

The wishing stars, still shining at night sky. Didn't show any sign of reaction to her comment, let alone spoke a whisper.

"Huh, at least I can get some peace of mind." Miwa slowly felt the pain disappearing as she began falling asleep herself after all of that training.

*The next morning.*

Miwa was in a deep sleep in the chair she was in, though it didn't last very long as she was shaken awake. "Hmm, what?"

"Just because I'm letting you stay here doesn't mean you can lazy around all day." said Macaque, standing in front of her with some breakfast.

Miwa opened her eyes and looked up at him. "But you're always sitting around and being lazy when you aren't training me or doing your job."

"That is because this is my place, and I can do what I want. Now eat your food, last thing I want is a hangry monkey for the whole day." said Macaque, handing her a plate with fried eggs and bacon with a few mango slices.

Miwa rolled her eyes, taking the plate and started eating as she took a glance at the time. "..... By the buddha I'm gonna be late for work?!"

With all the training she had been doing with Macaque, she was finding it hard to remember which days she had work and when it was her day off.

"You wouldn't be late if you remembered to turn on your alarm clock on your phone." Macaque told her as he crossed his arms.

"I did, but you wouldn't stop complaining about it being so loud and you even threatened to break it if you heard another sound from it. So I had to turn it off, last thing I want is having to steal another phone and setting it all up again." Miwa exclaimed while quickly finished up eating her food.

Macaque rolled his eyes at this as he clicked his tongue. "This is why you need to learn how to have a mental clock in your head."

"With you beating me around in the dream realm, it's hard enough to train my mind." Miwa got up from the chair and grabbed her phone. "I'll see you later, Papa."

Not wanting to be anymore late than she already was, Miwa decided to use the shadows to arrive at Pigsy's Noodles just a minute before she was late.

Macaque watched her leave before letting out a sigh and glancing out of a window up at the wishing stars that was still clearly in the morning sky. "I wis–if there was anything else I could do to help Miwa from what is to come and what she might go through. I would do anything.... But with little information that is about the wishing stars, or just a wish. I'm unable to do anything."

Giving another sigh, though a bit heavier. He took the empty plate and put it in the sink to get cleaned up later. "..... Hopefully she doesn't find out she is a wish... even with limited information, a wish must never figure out what they are....."

*At Pigsy's Noodles.*

"Sorry I'm late!" Miwa came out of the shadows, giving Tang a jump scare as he fell off his chair.

"Well that's an interesting morning greeting." said Tang, fixing his glasses as he got back on his chair.

"Sorry, Tang." said Miwa rubbing the back of her head.

"Oh it's alright, Miwa. You can just apologize to me with some free noodles." said Tang with a smile.

"No." said Miwa right away. "I'm not giving you free noodles, Pigsy would have my head."

"Oh you're overreacting, as a regular customer I don't see why I can't be treated to some free noodles at times. I do pay well with all of my knowledge, if that says anything."

Miwa gave him a deadpan face, not convinced nor planning on changing her mind.

"Miwa! I need some help out here! So get moving!" shouted Pigsy from the kitchen.

"Coming!" Miwa left Tang and went to help Pigsy with making some noodles and taking orders, while MK was to bring out the orders.

Time went by quickly until it was afternoon, and Miwa was now standing at the front desk taking orders as some customers entered.

"Welcome to Pigsy's Noodles, what would you like to ord—" Miwa greeted the customers until she saw who it was standing in front of her.

"So this is where you are working." said a guy with brown hair and with a scar across his face. "You sure changed a lot with your appearance since we last saw each other. Wouldn't you say, Yuz, Dai Lu?"

The guy turned to look at his two companions, a water demon girl named Dai Lu and a snake demon guy by the name of Yuz.

"You're right, I almost didn't recognize her, Zixuan." said Dai Lu with a smug grin. "She sure got even uglier, after all these years."

"A monkey demon, explains a lot for why she loved causing people trouble." said Yuz with a sharp glare.

Miwa was slowly turning pale seeing these three, since she had somehow ruined all three of their families. But she couldn't have them cause a scene at her job, not with customers in here along with Tang and Pigsy. Luckily MK was busy bringing out orders, so he wasn't around to get mixed up in this.

"..... If you have something you wanna say, can it please wait until later?" Miwa tried staying calm when talking to them, as she didn't want to cause any trouble. "I've handled a few villains, I can handle this... I think."

"Sure, we can wait. We aren't stupid enough to act out in public." said Zixuan, being the first person to think clearly. Unlike the other people she ruined that would attack her on sight these days.

"Zixuan is right, besides, I've wanted to try out the noodles in this place. I've been told a lot that the noodles here taste amazing." said Yuz giving a shrug.

"You're lucky I'm in a good mood today, otherwise I would be drowning you with water right. Don't think I forgot about your little fear." said Dai Lu, crossing her arms.

Miwa gulped at this and quickly took their orders and rushed into the kitchen to work on the noodles.

"Thank the buddha, I was able to buy a little more time... though I am surprised to see those three hanging out." Miwa let out a relieved sigh as she focused on the noodles.

Though her focus was quickly ruined as her eyes started glowing and a familiar voice was heard.

"Hey, Princess, how are you doing? Thought I would check up on you since we last spoke." A golden projection of Wukong appeared next to Miwa, causing her to almost drop the noodles.

"What the fuck, Dad?! Don't do that when I'm working!" shouted Miwa holding a bowl of noodles.

"Language, Freckles, I've told you not to swear. It's not fitting for a rising hero, let alone being my daughter." said Wukong crossing his arms.

Miwa let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing between her eyes, as if to try and not lose her temper. "I've already told you, Dad, I don't wanna be a hero. That's more you and MK, I'll rather be a warrior that can help and protect... like Papa."

Wukong clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes. "I think you're spending a bit too much time with him. Anyway, how are you doing?"

Miwa pouted a little, but let out a heavy sigh and turned her attention back to working while speaking with him. "I'm doing fine, nothing crazy has happened."

"That's good news, I mean, since nothing has really happened. I'm just happy you haven't gotten attacked again." said Wukong scratching the back of his head. "You would tell me if something like that happened... right, Freckles?"

Miwa didn't say anything for a while, thinking it over for a bit. "Of course I would tell you." She turned to look over at him, a small smile on her face. "But even if you aren't around, I can always go to my friends or Papa."

"I see." said Wukong, though seemed to hesitate with something, before he learned closer with a smirk. "So, how are you and MK getting along? Gotten any closer by chance while I'm away?"

Miwa's face started turning as red as her hair. "D-Dad?!"

Wukong chuckled at how flustered she was getting at his question. "What? Can't a parent be curious about their kid's lovelife? Who knows, I might be able to give you a few tips."

Miwa began hiding her red face in her hands, not able to have this talk with him of all people. "Dad, please stop, I don't wanna talk about this. Let alone hearing any of your tips."

"Hey, Miwa! We have customers waiting in line here! So get your butt back to work!" shouted Pigsy, having taking the front desk of orders while she was making noodles.

Miwa mumbled a few inaudible words before turning her attention back to the noodles. "I don't have time for anymore talking, Dad, so if you're done here you can leave."

Wukong glanced towards the room everyone else was in, and then back over at Miwa with a small sigh. "Right, might not have been the best time to check up on you."

Miwa's ears twitched a little, and she turned to look at him with a soft smile. "... It's fine Dad, maybe not the best time. But it's nice hearing from you..." She wanted to say more, but decided against it.

Wukong had a big smile on his face looking at her. "I'll check up on you later, probably when you aren't this busy. I still need to train both you and MK."

With that, Wukong disappeared and Miwa's eyes had stopped glowing.

The smile on Miwa's face slowly went away after he had left, and she let out a heavy sigh. "I hate this so much, Papa leaves, then Dad is around. But then it switches around, and now Dad is gone...." She turned her attention back to the noodles. ".... Papa is probably gonna leave again the moment Dad returns, why can't they both be around at the same time?"

Miwa's hands were slowly fading while making noodles, but ignored it.

After a little while later, Miwa had finished the noodles, and brought the bowls to the customers who had been waiting on them.

*Hours later.*

The rest of the day went well without any trouble, and they had started closing up the place.

Miwa were about to leave when MK quickly came up to her, seeming slightly nervous by how he was rubbing the back of his neck and had trouble looking her in the eyes.

"Lulu, I was w-w-wondering if you would be up for—no wait, what I wanted to a-ask is if you had any time t-t-tomorrow?" MK asked, seeming a bit flustered.

Miwa gave him a confused look, raising an eyebrow slightly at him. "MK, we have work tomorrow. I don't think either of us will have any free time."

"Oh right!" said MK, now feeling a little awkward. "What about after work, tomorrow?"

"I have training with Papa, after work." Miwa told him.

"... Do you have any time right now?" MK asked, hesitating a bit when asking.

"Umm..." Miwa took a glance outside, though she couldn't see them. She was sure those three were waiting on her. "I actually need to buy groceries, since Papa is running low."

"Oh, then why don't I come with you? I can help carry the bags." MK suggested with a smile.

Miwa didn't know what was going on with MK today, he wouldn't normally act like this with her. "Fine, but only when we are halfway to Papa's place. I don't want you two to get into another fight, and I'm pretty sure you aren't up for seeing him again any time soon."

"Yeah..." said MK with an awkward smile at just the thought of seeing Macaque again.

Miwa motioned with her tails for him to follow as they walked out, but MK seemed to have a better idea.

The moment they were outside, MK summoned his staff and picked up Miwa as he sent them both flying through the air.

"MK! WHAT THE FUCK?!" Miwa screamed at him, completely caught off guard.

*At the grocery store.*

MK let out an awkward laugh, scratching the back of his head as he was feeling the cold menacing glare coming from Miwa.

Miwa's hair and tails were all poofed up from MK catching her off guard. "What the actual fuck! MK?!" She was covered in a cosmic aura as her temper was rising, along with the deadly glare she was giving him.

MK opened his mouth to speak, but was cut up from Miwa raging at him.

"If you wanna us to get there fast, I could have just used the shadows to bring us there! Or I should have glided in the air while you used your staff! Yet you decided to do that out of the blue?!" Miwa shouted at him as the cosmic aura was slowly lashing out by the cracks on the ground under their feet.

"..... Maybe I shouldn't have taken Monkey King's advice." MK mumbled in a low voice to himself, but Miwa was able to hear it clearly.

"WHAT?!" Miwa exclaimed, the ground under them breaking and some of the cosmic energy hitting a few buildings.

MK was taken aback by the cosmic energy coming from Miwa getting out of control, by her rising anger. "P-Please don't be angry, Miwa, I was the one who asked him for some help when he came to check up on my training."

Miwa let out a heavy sigh as she tried to calm down, though her tails were still lashing around in anger. But at least the cosmic energy coming from her was slowly disappearing. "MK, my Dad is a lot of things. But whatever advice you were looking for from him, is the worst thing to ask from him."

MK gave a nervous smile as he started blushing. "Haha... yeah looks like it."

Miwa shook her head and began walking into the grocery store with him. "What kind of advice were you even asking from him?"

MK followed her though grew more nervous from her question, and let out an awkward laugh. "It's nothing crazy, just something I'm struggling with."

"Besides being my Dad's successor, what could you be struggling with? You can always ask me or the others if you need help." Miwa looked over at him as she grabbed a basket and started grabbing what she needed.

MK rubbed his arm, seeming to think over what to say while helping her getting some groceries.

Taking a deep breath, and gathering his courage. "Lu... Lulu we've known each other for a long time."

"Oh yeah, we met in kindergarten." said Miwa grabbing the mangos. "I wasn't very comfortable with the other kids, unlike those I knew from the orphanage. Until you and Mei showed up, and invited me to play with you both."

MK chuckled a little at that memory. "Yeah, and we've gotten very close throughout the years." His face slowly began blushing, as he went and grabbed her free hand.

Miwa turned to look at him, slowly blushing as well when he took her hand.

MK were about to say something, only for his phone to go off. Causing him to let go of Miwa's hand and in a panic picked up his phone, and saw that it was Mei who was calling him.

"Hey, Mei. What's up?" MK asked, trying to sound cheerful.

"Hey, MK! Is Mimi with you? Wanna come and hang out at the arcade?" Mei asked.

"Umm." MK turned to look over at Miwa. "Mei is asking if we wanna hang out at the arcade."

Miwa just shook her head. "Not this time, but maybe the day after tomorrow." She went on to fill up her basket while MK was talking to Mei over the phone.

It didn't take them long until they got everything Miwa needed, though MK had to force her not to steal it by dropping it into the shadows.

"Aww, but they wouldn't notice a thing. Please MK, I haven't stolen anything for a while, and I'm craving it." Miwa begged as he was holding the basket out of reach from her.

"Which is why you can't steal, Lulu, you've lasted so long without stealing anything. If you break that progress, you'll reset to your regular stealing habits again." MK told her, not letting her touch the basket after he had seen her trying to drop it into the shadows.

Miwa crossed her arms and pouted in annoyance, as they went and actually paid for it all.

"Besides, we are heroes now so we can't got around and acting like thieves and stealing stuff." said MK, handing over the basket to her.

"You're a hero, MK, I'm not and don't wanna be that." said Miwa dropping the basket into a shadow.

"Then what do you wanna be?" MK asked.

Miwa looked at him, slightly surprised. No one had asked her what she wanted to be, not even her parents. Everyone had seemed to just decide for her what she was, whatever it be a hero, a demon, or something to use for a different goal.

"I wanna be someone who can protect those I care about and rely on when things get tough. I want to be a warrior strong enough to help those who need it." She told him with a determined look in her eyes.

Now it was MK's turn to be surprised by her words, and the look in her eyes.

Miwa gave an awkward laugh, scratching her head. "Anyway, I should be heading home, you have fun at the arcade with Mei." She turned to leave, but was stopped by MK grabbing her hand. Causing her to look at him.

"....Miwa will you go out with me?" MK asked, his face red but with a confident look.

Miwa's eyes widened as her face turned so red that it almost matched her hair. "I.... I...." Steam was slowly rising from her head from how flustered she was, and didn't know how to answer.

MK looked at her, waiting on an answer, while trying not to break away from embarrassment.

Miwa has had a huge crush on him for a long while, but now that he finally took the courage to ask her out. She didn't know how to act, she knew she should be jumping in joy at this and she would. But being completely caught off guard like this, she hadn't even noticed that she had fallen into the shadows, with MK's hand having let go of her.
