Chapter 14 - The Devil’s Daughter

CHAPTER XIV

Nexa's Point of View

"The Book That Stole My Voice"

Nexa — it's not just a name. It's a legacy. A symbol of everything I've lost… and everything I've become.

My father, Omega, was a man of power and passion — deeply entangled in the world of politics, forever running against time and corruption. My mother, Ariana, was a star — a dazzling actress whose face appeared more on magazine covers than in front of my eyes. While the world admired them, worshipped them even… I sat alone in the cold silence of our grand, empty house. Books were my only companions.

It was one such quiet evening, at the tender age of twelve, when I stumbled upon it — a dusty, forgotten book in the farthest corner of our personal library. The cover was obsidian black, the title carved in blood-red letters: "Devil."

The first page held a warning — cryptic and chilling:

"Whosoever chooses to connect with this book by will… shall never return from whence they came."

It should've scared me. But to a lonely child, it felt like nothing more than a dark fairytale. A mystery. An adventure. So I read it.

And that's when it began.

Without realizing it, I'd sealed a pact with something ancient… something that lived between the lines of ink and shadow. The web of mystery, of secrets too heavy for any child to bear, spun itself around me — and before I could scream for help, I was gone.

Swallowed whole by a world that existed just outside the corner of human perception — a realm ruled not by logic, but by magic and madness.

I called for my parents. I cried, screamed… but they never heard me. Not once. They didn't even realize I had vanished.

The book had devoured me.

And now, I was in his world — the Devil's world.

At first, it looked like Earth — streets, cities, even people who looked human. But it wasn't. Not really. This was a multiverse stitched together by enchantments, where gravity bent to desire and thoughts became weapons. Here, spells danced through the air, and darkness whispered promises to those who dared listen.

I was given powers — ones I didn't ask for, ones I barely understood. My veins pulsed with something ancient and terrifying. I became something more… and less… than human.

And then, the Devil played his cruelest trick.

He summoned two people who looked exactly like my parents — same faces, same names: Omega and Ariana. But they weren't them. They were stronger. Colder. Controlled by him.

That was the moment I realized — this wasn't just a different world. This was a trap, and I was its chosen prisoner.

The Devil told me that if I wanted to return home — to the real world, to the family that may or may not even remember me — I had to bring him what he desired most. He didn't tell me what it was. Not exactly. Just that I'd know it when I saw it.

And then he introduced me to others like me. Lost souls caught in the gravity of that cursed book. That's how I met Malti and Jenny — powerful, brilliant, broken in their own ways. Were they victims too? Or were they already willing servants?

I still don't know.

All I know is — I'm not the only one. This multiverse is full of echoes of our world, full of people who might have once belonged somewhere… but got pulled into the Devil's web.

Like me.

And now, I'm not just Nexa, the forgotten daughter of Omega and Ariana.

I'm Nexa, the Devil's chosen.

And every choice I make from here on… might either bring me home — or destroy what little of me remains.

"The Devil's Choice"

The Devil made his choice clear to me… and that choice was Aurora.

She — with her soft gaze and untouchable aura — became the Devil's obsession. And for me… she became a means to an end.

To draw her attention toward me, I began killing. One by one. Quietly, cruelly, purposefully. Not out of rage… but strategy. Because I had realized something horrifying: everyone in this world is nothing more than an illusion created by the Devil. Mere puppets. Shells. Shadows of real people that once existed — or maybe never did.

In a world where everything is fake, what does one life matter?

Each murder was a scream in silence — a cry for Aurora to notice me. And she did. Slowly, cautiously. The way prey notices the predator circling in the dark.

But I wasn't doing it for love. I wasn't doing it for revenge either.

I was doing it for freedom.

Because the Devil promised me something.

He told me: "Bring Aurora to me… and I will set you free."

And I believed him. At first.

But now? Now I've started preparing for the possibility — the inevitable betrayal.

So I made another choice. If after handing Aurora over, the Devil still refuses to set me free… then I'll do the unthinkable. I will kill her myself. Even if she's my only way out, even if it means being trapped here forever — I will not be his puppet.

Like me, Malti and Jenny also yearn for freedom. We are all trapped souls, condemned to play roles we never chose. We are prisoners inside a beautifully cursed multiverse.

And that's why… I hate the name Aurora.

I hate the way her presence steals all attention.

I hate that she is the key to everything I want.

But above all, I hate that I must pretend to love her.

Yes, I will fake affection. I will wear a smile stitched from lies. I will whisper false confessions and look at her like she's my world — all so I can use her to escape this nightmare.

Because in this realm of illusions and deceit, survival doesn't come from truth.

It comes from playing the Devil's game…

even if it means becoming a monster myself.

"A Beautiful Threat"

Aurora's beauty cast a spell on me — if only for a fleeting moment.

There was something about her… something untouchably divine. Her eyes, especially — those deep, mesmerizing eyes — I could drown in them if I let myself. If I had met her in the real world, outside this cursed illusion, I might've fallen for her. Truly. I might've protected her from every danger, even from the Devil himself.

But fate had other plans.

Because she didn't appear to me in the real world — she appeared here — in this false, twisted universe where everyone is an enemy, a threat, a pawn. Including Aurora.

And no matter how enchanting her presence may be… she is not my salvation.

She is my task.

My target.

My sacrifice.

So I remind myself: She is like the rest of them. Just another piece in the Devil's design. Just another obstacle between me and freedom. No matter how many pieces of myself I have to give up to win this war, I will play the part. I will break her down if I must. I will make her trust me — and then take her straight to the Devil.

That night at the grand party, when Aurora entered — the whole room turned to her. People recognized her instantly, as if something ancient had awakened within them. Their expressions twisted between awe and suspicion. But we were ready for this. We had planned the scene perfectly.

To avoid unnecessary attention and to paint Aurora as our "savior," we staged a moment of disrespect — at the hands of none other than my own mother. The drama was cruel but necessary. My mother humiliated herself just to make it look convincing, to draw Aurora into our web. And it worked.

Aurora, ever the righteous one, reacted just as we hoped — her heart flinched, her eyes softened, her voice quivered with concern. In that single moment, we knew: she had taken the bait.

Now, the time has come for the next move.

It's time for me to enter her life — not as her enemy, not as the girl plotting her downfall…

…but as someone new. A friend. A stranger. A soft hand in a harsh world.

She won't see me coming.

She won't know what role I truly play.

And maybe… just maybe… she'll let me get close enough to destroy her.

Or worse — maybe I'll get too close… and forget that I was supposed to destroy her in the first place.

To be continue....
