Supervibrato Lightning Release Swords was used by Killer B of the Hidden Cloud in the original story.
It channels Lightning-style chakra into a sword to make it vibrate at ultra-high frequency, sharpening the edge and boosting piercing power.
It comes from the Cloud's Seven-Sword Style, but you don't have to practice that style to use it—any shinobi who fights with a blade can.
Kitazawa accepted the mission on the spot. He counted as a half-swordsman himself.
"Tsunade-sama, which outpost are you aiming for?"
Kitazawa had already caught her drift: she meant to raid one of the three sites.
"Kirigakure's vanguard is smaller than ours—only five hundred," Tsunade said, pointing to the left-hand outpost on the map. "This island isn't big, so they've stationed just a hundred men there."
"How strong are those hundred?" Kitazawa asked, studying the map.
"Seven jōnin. The rest are all chūnin," Tsunade answered.
"So many chūnin?" Kitazawa raised a brow, puzzled.
"They call it a 'vanguard,' but it's really a strike force," Tsunade snorted, then explained.
"All five hundred of them are chūnin at minimum, hand-picked. Even though Konoha's vanguard set out first, theirs arrived later but landed before us. When our vanguard reached shore, they hit us with a surprise attack. Combined with the Hidden Mist Technique, our arriving troops paid a steep price. After scoring their win, they promptly pulled back to their offshore bases."
"No wonder," Kitazawa said, looking enlightened.
"We're still a night's march from the Land of Fire's border," Tsunade went on. "I plan to send a jōnin squad to strike under cover of darkness. They won't see it coming."
"Agreed," Kitazawa said. "Right now all their attention should be on our vanguard."
"I've already asked Shizune to handle it," Tsunade nodded. "She's picking the jōnin now and will report back when she's done."
"Count me in," Kitazawa said at once.
"You want to go?" Tsunade didn't even think about it. "No. It's too dangerous."
"If I go, morale goes up," Kitazawa coughed lightly. "Because I'm seen as your representative."
Strictly speaking, the first battle—especially a momentum-shifting raid—should be led by Tsunade herself. With her name behind it, a success would have outsized impact. But with her hemophobia, she couldn't lead in person. Many shinobi already saw Kitazawa as Tsunade's student; even if not a formal disciple, he was clearly in her inner circle. Having him lead wouldn't be as good as Tsunade, but better than anyone else.
"Not necessary," Tsunade frowned. "All that matters is success."
"If success is the target, bringing me improves the odds," Kitazawa replied confidently. "I've learned a lot of the Second Hokage's Water Release. Out at sea is my home turf."
Tsunade hesitated. Tobirama Senju's Suiton was famous, but outside of him Konoha had very few Water-style jōnin. Realistically, the better-known ones now were Sarutobi Hiruzen, Maruboshi Kosuke, and Kitazawa. Kitazawa's name came mostly from killing Kurosuki Raiga, not from Water Release—but she'd seen his Suiton. It was legit.
"Hesitation doesn't sound like you, Tsunade-sama," Kitazawa teased.
"Do you not understand I'm worried about you?" Tsunade shot him a glare.
"I do," Kitazawa said seriously. "But once you're on the battlefield, you ought to be ready."
That shook Tsunade. She had that same resolve herself—she just seemed to forget it whenever Kitazawa was involved. She suddenly realized why: without noticing, she'd come to treat him as someone important to her, almost like Shizune.
"The battlefield is crueler than you think," Tsunade said, flopping back on the carpet, mind surging with old memories. Staring at the tent ceiling, she thought of Nawaki—another who wouldn't listen.
"I can't live under your protection forever," Kitazawa said, moved but determined. For the sake of his "system" mission, he planned to take the risk—though, in truth, the plan was relatively safe. With surprise on their side and an all-jōnin lineup, they could always run if they couldn't win.
And he hadn't been bluffing: the sea really was his domain. He had the best life-saving ace—Water Release: Hydrification Technique—turning his body into water to ignore physical attacks. If he dove into the ocean, he'd be almost untouchable—unless someone evaporated the whole sea.
"You and that silver tongue," Tsunade waved him off. "Fine. You lead."
"Thank you, Tsunade-sama," Kitazawa exhaled in relief.
"Remember: you're there to raid, not seize the outpost," she warned. "You get three minutes, tops. Any longer and reinforcements from the other two sites will arrive."
"Got it," Kitazawa nodded.
Just then, Shizune stepped into the tent. She glanced at Kitazawa and handed Tsunade a scroll.
"These are the eight jōnin for the raid," she said.
"Kitazawa, go—and be careful," Tsunade said, passing the scroll to him after a quick look.
"Wait, Kitazawa is going too?" Shizune blurted.
"Shizune-senpai, just wait for the good news," Kitazawa said, rising and heading out.
At the camp gate, eight jōnin were already assembled. Kitazawa recognized four: Uchiha Yashiro, Aburame Shibi, Hyuga Hoheto, and Akimichi Chōza.
Chōza was one of the Ino–Shika–Chō trio; the other two weren't here, but at jōnin level they could split up and still hit hard.
"I'm Kitazawa. Honored to serve as captain of this raid squad," he introduced himself under their curious stares.
"With Captain Kitazawa, we're sure to win," Uchiha Yashiro said with a smile.
Shibi and Chōza were taken aback. Since when did Uchiha speak so… flatteringly—especially Yashiro, a senior jōnin second only to Fugaku?
"Time's short. We move now," Kitazawa said, voice low. "We must reach the Mist outpost before dawn."
Daylight would multiply the difficulty.
"Yes!" everyone answered in unison. Kitazawa was younger than all of them, but he'd just killed Kurosuki Raiga and had Tsunade's backing. They were convinced.
Nine shadows streaked into the night.
By moon-high, they reached the coast. Kitazawa halted and looked to Aburame Shibi and Hyuga Hoheto.
"No Mist shinobi nearby," Hyuga said after a sweep.
"My kikaichū found a safe route across the water," Shibi reported five minutes later.
"Clan Leader Shibi, lead on," Kitazawa ordered.
Shibi nodded, let chakra bloom under his feet, and skimmed out over the sea. The others followed suit.
Soon a dim island took shape in the night.
"The thousand-meter perimeter around the island is packed with traps," Hyuga said grimly after a look.
"At our speed, a thousand meters is two seconds," Uchiha Yashiro said confidently. "We can just rush it."
"Unwise," Kitazawa shook his head. "The traps may not kill us, but they'll cost time."
"Agreed," Chōza said.
"What's your plan, Captain?" Yashiro asked.
"Hyuga, mark every trap ahead with your Byakugan. Clan Leader Shibi, send kikaichū to set them all off at once," Kitazawa said after a beat. "We hit at top speed the moment they trigger."
"Good plan," Shibi said, already opening the gourd on his back as swarms of kikaichū poured out.
Hyuga began calling out coordinates. In under three minutes, every trap ahead had a bug sitting on it.
"Once we're ashore, we split and act immediately," Kitazawa reminded them. "We have two minutes. When time's up, we pull out."
"Yes!" they chorused. They knew why it was two minutes: that was the safe window. Any slower and the other outposts would react, surround them, and turning back would be hard.
"Hold up," Kitazawa said suddenly, forming seals.
Summoning Technique!
A slug half as tall as a person appeared.
"Katsuyu-sama, please split into nine and stick with each of them," Kitazawa said. "Through you, I can treat them with medical ninjutsu."
Uchiha Yashiro and Aburame Shibi flinched. Everyone had heard of Katsuyu—from Shikkotsu Forest, one of the Three Great Sacred Lands, and Tsunade's summon. If Kitazawa could call her, he really was Tsunade's student—so the rumors hadn't been smoke.
"No wonder she's the greatest medical ninja," someone murmured as Katsuyu divided and climbed onto their shoulders. "With Captain Kitazawa here, it's like we each have a medic in our pocket," Hyuga added, feeling oddly… wealthy.
"Ready," Kitazawa said, looking to Shibi once the slugs were in place.
"Three… two… one!" Shibi counted down.
Every trap sprang at once. The nine shinobi blasted forward.
Kitazawa slipped on a pair of sunglasses. They wouldn't hide a Sharingan or Byakugan under normal circumstances, since dōjutsu leak chakra. But on a battlefield, with so many signatures swirling, no one would notice him turning on his Sharingan.
"Enemy attack!" Mist shinobi were already reacting to the triggered traps—but a beat too late.
Senju Chakra Mode.
Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique!
Kitazawa flashed through seals. The sea heaved; chakra dragged up masses of water, stacking them skyward. A ten-meter wall of surf took shape in a heartbeat. With Senju Chakra Mode and open ocean behind it, his Great Waterfall was basically the Great Exploding Water Colliding Wave.
Uchiha Yashiro, Aburame Shibi, and the others stared, shaken. It had been ages since anyone had whipped up a tsunami-sized Suiton in an instant. For most, it was a first—only a few older jōnin remembered Tobirama. The sheer chakra and control…
Shock gave way to surging spirits. The raid had landed a massive blow right out of the gate.
The giant wave crashed down; half the Mist outpost shattered; many shinobi were knocked cold. Even Mist ninja hadn't imagined Water Release could maul them this badly—Suiton was their specialty.
"Two minutes. Spread out!" Kitazawa said evenly.
"Yes!" The replies carried a new edge of respect. That single Great Waterfall had established dominance.
Super Expansion Jutsu!
Chōza hit the beach and swelled into a towering giant. One stomp, and screams erupted. At that size, every move shook the field. Of course, a target that big drew Mist jōnin fast; two engaged him at once.
"I've got you, Chōza-senpai!" Hyuga Hoheto flickered to his side.
Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!
With his three-tomoe Sharingan spinning, Uchiha Yashiro found the densest cluster and lobbed a massive fireball into it. It blossomed among the crowd, screams rippling out with the flame.
Kitazawa opened his own three-tomoe and swept the field, locking onto an Earth-style jōnin. He didn't bother with a one-on-one; in Senju Chakra Mode he was an all-purpose artillery piece—most effective supporting the whole field.
Two Mist shinobi flashed in from left and right, with more behind them, the earth-style among them.
Uchiha-Style: Gale Sword!
Kitazawa drew Zangetsu and Thunder and slashed. Two arcs of blazing edge tore out and bisected the pair mid-Shunshin. They hadn't imagined flaming blades could track them that precisely—such is the three-tomoe's predictive sight.
Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere!
Kitazawa spun and spat a string of projectiles, riddling the shinobi behind him with holes.
Wind Release: Gale Palm!
He clapped both hands; two more Mist ninja yelped as the blast hurled them away.
The earth-style jōnin finished weaving seals. The ground bulged and a huge dragon head reared up, spewing mud shells—Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet!
Good, Kitazawa thought, and copied the jutsu on the spot. A dragon head surged up under his own feet. He actually had Earth Dragon Bullet in his repertoire but hadn't learned it; the three-tomoe forced it into memory now.
"You can use Earth Release too?" the Mist jōnin blurted, paling.
Kitazawa had already shown Wind, Water, and Fire. With Earth, that made four natures—not your average jōnin.
Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet!
Kitazawa answered with a roaring water dragon. The earth-style's reaction was quick; a wall of earth rose before him—then exploded under the water dragon's impact. He dove aside just in time.
Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique!
Kitazawa glanced left and right, then poured in chakra—three searing fire dragons roared out and swallowed the Mist shinobi rushing him. They shrieked and burned; six or seven nearby were caught in the blast.
"Damn it!" the Earth jōnin snarled, then vanished into the ground—Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole. He figured Kitazawa was a pure ninjutsu type and tried to ambush him up close.
Kitazawa was delighted; he'd just copied Hiding Like a Mole too.
[Current Mission: Learn four Earth-style ninjutsu within the third term.]
[Reward: Proficient-level Earth-nature transformation.]
[Mission Completed. Reward Granted.]
A freebie, Kitazawa thought.
The earth-style jōnin burst from the ground behind him, kunai stabbing for his back—
Kitazawa spun and drove a fist into his gut.
Monster Strength.
The jōnin's eyes bulged; pain detonated in his abdomen. His kunai clattered to the ground and he toppled backward.
