Uchiha Cemetery, Uchiha Compound, Konohagakure—
Unlike any other shinobi of Konoha, or even an Uchiha, Tadayoshi was not going to be buried at the Konoha Cemetery.
Uchiha Seiji, who was also attending the funeral along with his wife Kasumi and son Shisui, was very unhappy with this.
All the Konoha Shinobi, be it the Uchihas, are buried at the Konoha Cemetery, near the sculpture that represents the Will of Fire. It's a tradition and a respect for the shinobi of Konoha who dedicated their lives to the village. The Uchiha shouldn't be an exception to that… Tadayoshi should have been buried at the Konoha Cemetery as well. But he wasn't… and that was because Kanzou didn't allow it.
Kanzou answered flatly. "I don't trust some people in the village… They may try to dig up Tadayoshi-sama's body to study it, or even gouge out his Sharingan…"
"How can you even say that…? They'd not do something like that…" Seiji tried to argue. He turned to Mikoto. "Mikoto-sama… are you alright with this? Tadayoshi-sama did so much for the village… are you content with letting the elder be buried in the compound and not at the Konoha Cemetery…?"
But Mikoto… she didn't even look at him. Her gaze was fixed on the photo of her grandfather, surrounded by flowers, and that was all her eyes seemed to focus on… everything else — Seiji's question, the presence of the other people in the area, and so on — they weren't on her mind. Or perhaps it was even better to say Mikoto's mind wasn't even here… Indeed, while her eyes looked at the picture, they were also not looking at that picture. She was only physically here, but her mind… it seemed to be lost.
In her place, Kanzou said coldly, "Neither I nor she needs to give you any further explanation… I am informing you. Tadayoshi is going to be buried near the Compound… and from here on out, all the Uchihas will be buried here… If you are not content with it, how about I reserve a place for you at the Konoha Cemetery that you may need to occupy very soon?"
In the face of that hidden threat, Seiji and his wife Kasumi's expression changed. Seiji immediately looked at Kanzou with anger. "You—!"
He wanted to argue more, question Kanzou about what he meant by that, condemn him, but Kasumi stopped him. After stopping Seiji, Kasumi bowed to Mikoto, expressing her grief for Mikoto's loss before distancing herself and Seiji along with Shisui.
She, who has witnessed the death of the previous Patriarch, the death of the two elders, then the exile of Fugaku from the Clan, and now the death of Tadayoshi as well as Shinkurou, as well as many other things that have happened in the Clan, doesn't want Seiji to take that risk.
Kanzou snorted, ignoring Seiji and Kasumi before letting others at the grand funeral express their grief to Mikoto.
The list of people wasn't too long. It was mostly the people of the Uchiha Clan themselves expressing support to Mikoto.
There were also people like Fūma Misaki, Kurama Uroko, and a few members of the Police Force that aren't part of the Uchiha Clan, but other than them, it was indeed mostly the Uchihas at the funeral.
Indeed, most of the people from other Clans, families, and so on hadn't shown up for Uchiha Tadayoshi's funeral.
This was bound to happen...
Not only because the relationship of the Uchihas with the other clans had grown colder ever since Kanzou took the reins, but it was also because the burial would occur within the Uchiha Compound... Other Clans and families didn't want to get mixed up in this.
And let's not forget that Tadayoshi is only an elder, not the patriarch.
Of course, even if only the Uchiha Clansmen attended the funeral, the ceremony was far from modest since almost the entire Clan was here, including the ninjas and civilians.
After Kanzou shut down Seiji, no one else in the Clan questioned why Tadayoshi was going to be buried within the Clan compound and not at the Konoha Cemetery.
Who could question Kanzou's method? Nobody had the courage...? Mikoto herself wasn't opposing where Tadayoshi would be buried; why would anyone else question?
Hence, the ceremony continued with little opposition or questioning, and soon it came to an end as folks began to return to their houses.
After the ceremony concluded, Kanzou, who was the only person left in the area along with Mikoto, pressed his hand on her shoulder. She still stood there with her eyes fixed on her grandfather's picture. "What are you thinking…?" he questioned.
Faced with his question, Mikoto wasn't silent. "I am thinking that when Sofu-sama wanted to take one last look at me… when he wanted to caress my head, I didn't dare to face him. I stayed hidden out of guilt… As a result… Sofu-sama… he did all this… without even—"
Her voice cracked, unable to say anything further…
She felt guiltier recalling this. She even felt that not stepping out at that moment might as well be one of the reasons why Tadayoshi went through this.
If only she had stepped out at that moment… perhaps… her grandfather wouldn't have…
"I have already said it many times, and I'll repeat this. His death was only a matter of time… as for regretting these things… it's pointless to do that now…" Kanzou responded.
Hearing him, she looked at him as if wanting to complain… but… couldn't bring herself to say anything. She only thought to herself, 'You are heartless…' That was all she felt looking at him.
Kanzou didn't care what she was thinking, and simply said to her. "Let's return home. Standing here any longer won't bring Tadayoshi-sama back to life."
Mikoto opened her mouth wanting to say something, but in the end, she just nodded quietly and followed behind him in silence. Of course, she was only silent on the outside; inside her thoughts were churning.
As they were returning home, Mikoto suddenly stopped and spoke in a slightly hesitant voice. "Kanzou-sama…"
"What is it?" Kanzou asked, stopping as well.
She began, "You promised me that if I became strong… if I awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan, you'd be willing to take me as your wife…"
"Yes, I did promise you," Kanzou nodded.
"Well… I have awakened those eyes… Am I strong and useful enough now? Do I meet your requirements? Have I evolved from a Canary to a Black Swan as you desired? Would you be willing to grant me that wish of mine?" she asked.
"I wonder though… do you really still wish to marry me despite knowing full well the kind of person I am… what I put you through… that I too hold responsibility, even if indirectly, for Tadayoshi-sama's death… knowing all this… do you really still wish to marry me and be my wife?" he questioned.
After regaining consciousness, she was looking at him with anger and hatred in her eyes… but now, she was asking if he was finally willing to take her as his wife… he wondered what was going through her mind.
"..." Mikoto opened her mouth, but she was unable to respond for a moment.
She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her skin.
There was indeed a lot of anger and hatred for Kanzou in her heart…
He had threatened her, violated her against her will in her own bedroom, humiliated her, abused her, tormented her, treated her like a servant… manipulated her into attempting to kill her grandfather, gave her the silent treatment, emotionally pushed her over and over, called her a 'waste', threatened to discard her, and he also undoubtedly holds some responsibility for the 'suicide' of her grandfather…
She knows this, she knows this all, and yet, she is asking him to take her as his wife…
It is entirely unexpected. Why would she still want to be the wife of her abuser? Even though now that she has awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, she technically has some power to protect herself from him.
Well, not exactly since her strength would still be weaker than Kanzou's, but she shouldn't know that… and any sane person would want to escape her abuser after getting power, right?
But not her, who despite being aware of it all had the same answer. "...I do," she responded, even as her lips trembled at what she had said, and she lowered her gaze.
The reason… She was truly alone now, and she was broken. Her heart, that had already shattered, needed someone to keep beating for. And Kanzou was the only one who could ensure that her heart continued to beat.
At this point, her request wasn't born of reason, calculation, logic, resentment towards Fugaku, a woman's nature to search for someone who could provide and protect, or because it was the best thing to do.
No, none of that was the reason…
She wasn't asking because it was the most sensible choice; she was asking because it was the only choice she had left.
She knew that in some way she was emotionally trapped… but being trapped, being with someone who was abusing her, was far better than being alone and having no reason, no purpose to exist.
Even if he was her abuser… he was still the only person in her heart who could give her the reason.
And she hoped that he would give her that reason… because if he didn't… she knew that her heart would just stop beating. It wouldn't even be able to see the sun tomorrow.
And it's not that she was afraid of dying… a part of her does feel that she might as well end her life and join her grandfather in the pure land… but if she does that, if she goes through that step, her grandfather's sacrifice would be for naught.
He would not want her to go through that… he wanted her to keep living. Therefore, she needs to keep living. But... to keep living, she needs that reason, and therefore, she looked at Kanzou with some hope in her eyes…
Kanzou turned to look at her and was able to see through her thoughts.
After a moment of silence, he nodded, "You have indeed evolved… although not fully completed, and not taking the path I had intended for you… But I suppose we can ignore all that for now."
The True and complete evolution from a Canary to a Black Sawn in Kanzou's eyes would have been if Mikoto had been the one to plunge her Kunai through Elder Tadayoshi's heart.
It's a pity that Elder Tadayoshi just sacrificed himself in another way, saving Mikoto the agony and preventing her complete collapse. He wanted more trauma for her... but...
'Well, since I lost this one to Tadayoshi-sama, I'll let this slide this time,' he thought, extending his hand to her. "You're now indeed qualified to be the Black Swan in my Cage."
A beautiful, strong, humble, and devoted woman wanting to continue to live in the cage of her own willingness? Why would Kanzou refuse?
Especially one like Mikoto, who now possessed strength close to the Kage level and potential for higher, having awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.
A kunoichi with both strength and beauty, along with endless devotion, was a rare asset in the Shinobi World.
Mikoto slowly raised her hand and placed it gently over Kanzou's. "Thank you, Kanzou-sama…" she said softly, her voice full of gratitude as she felt his fingers clasp hers.
Hand in hand, the two then began to make their way to her cage.
...
Back home, after sending Mikoto to take a rest and sleep, Kanzou was finally about to handle the Clan's affairs… he hadn't even gone to the Police Station for this reason today. It was to handle the Clan's affairs… but because of Tadayoshi's unexpected visit, then the later news of Tadayoshi's death, which was followed by Misaki's arrival, and later the funeral ceremony… he hadn't been able to handle the things he needed to handle…
He was going to handle them right now…
But just as he was about to… Mikoto, who should have gone to the bedroom to sleep and rest, actually entered his study.
As the gate was slid open, Kanzou, with his eyes looking at the scroll on the table, without even turning his head, questioned her, "Weren't you going to rest…?"
"I… won't be able to sleep like this…" she answered, sliding the door closed.
"…Unable to sleep, huh? So, what do you wa—?" Before he could even complete his words, he felt a pair of hands wrapped around his stomach from behind, and her body pressed against him from behind…
Sitting on her knees behind him, Mikoto, who was still wearing the black funeral garb, pressed her soft body against his back, her breasts squished against him, her cheek pressed as well as she pleaded him, "Kanzou-sama… please violate me…"
Kanzou's hand paused. "You want me to... fuck you?" he questioned her.
"…yes," she nodded, breathing slightly heavier, her heart beating rapidly.
"Shouldn't you be resting after experiencing everything…?" he questioned her.
"I don't care about resting… I need... I want to be violated by you…" she answered, her voice needy.
Because Kanzou was ignoring her these past few days and didn't even touch her, she had been severely pent up… that… when coupled with all the emotional as well as psychological stress, along with the death of her grandfather… she was feeling too bottled up. She needs to release it all… not only the pent-up feelings, stress, and other things… but also this sadness that's weighing on her… she needs to push it all out…
At the same time, she also wants to forget the loss she has experienced… and being violated by him, feeling him close inside her, getting lost in those addicting sensations of getting violated by him; that was the only way it was going to be possible…
"Please Kanzou-sama… please violate me… please let me feel that pleasure and pain... let me forget this emptiness, this sadness, this… this… whatever this is that I am feeling… just let me feel you… only you... within me, tearing through my insides… please Kanzou-sama… let me—"
Before she could even finish with her words, Kanzou dropped the pen in his hand, and holding her hand, he pulled her onto his lap. "Fufu… I suppose I can do that…"
He had been giving her the silent treatment and not touching her… that was because he wanted to push her into committing parricide, but that matter was already something in the past. Now that he had even accepted her to be his wife, and would soon marry her, it was only natural for him to fuck her again… or should he say... violate her again.
Finding herself sitting on his lap, she looked at him with heated eyes and nodded. "Yes… please…" she said and lowered her eyes at his lips, as if wanting to be kissed by them… but of course, she didn't dare to take the initiative… it was only when he was going to do it would she be—
Her desire didn't go unnoticed by Kanzou, and he decided not to keep her waiting. He directly leaned forward and pressed his lips onto her luscious lips.
Chu~
Mikoto immediately closed her eyes and completely opened her mouth in surrender, letting him push his tongue inside her mouth while tightly clutching onto his shirt.
"Kanzou-samaaa~"
Muuuaahh… slrrrp…
