Isolation Chamber, Uchiha Compound

Kasumi's eyelids trembled as she slowly regained consciousness.

"Mm…?"

Her lashes lifted with effort, the dim torchlight flickering against cold stone walls, forcing her to squint. For a moment, everything was blurry, shapes and shadows merging into an unfamiliar haze.

Her heartbeat quickened as the world gradually came into focus.

"Where… am I?" she whispered, voice hoarse and unsteady.

She pushed herself slightly upright, taking in her surroundings. The chamber was dark and bare, echoing with a chill that bit into her skin. Thick metal chains hung from the walls, their dull glint reflecting the flickering flames.

She had never seen this place before… and that unfamiliarity twisted into confusion. "Why am I here? What happened?"

"Is this… a prison?" she whispered, trying to shift her weight.

But her body wouldn't move.

"Huh?" Kasumi blinked, attempting again, only to feel cold resistance around her limbs. Her gaze dropped, and the realization hit her: chains. Heavy iron restraints ran from the wall to her wrists and ankles, spreading her limbs apart and forcing her to remain upright, completely immobilized in the very center of the chamber.

"What's going on?" she breathed, panic beginning to rise. She instinctively tugged against the bindings, once, twice, then again with more force.

Nothing happened, except for the harsh clank of chains that refused to move even an inch.

The effort only made her muscles tremble, a dull ache spreading through her arms and legs as the restraints held firm.

A chill ran down her spine.

"Where am I…? Why am I bound like this…?" Her voice trembled as fear finally began to sink in.

Panic surged, and she instinctively tried to use her chakra, channeling it through her limbs to strengthen herself, to break free from the metal restraints holding her in place. But to her horror, nothing happened.

There was no familiar warmth radiating from her tenketsu, no chakra coursing through her pathways. It felt as though a void had swallowed her chakra entirely, sealing it away and placing it just out of reach.

She could still sense it, faint and distant within her core… but no matter how hard she tried to draw it out, nothing happened.

The failure sent unease spiraling through her chest. Her breath hitched, growing shallow, and her heart hammered desperately against her ribs. Powerless, utterly powerless, the realization tightened around her like a vice.

"This… this can't be real," she whispered, desperately clinging to denial.

"It has to be a nightmare. Y-Yes… that's all this is…"

She screwed her eyes shut, willing herself awake. If she just opened them again, she told herself, she would be back home, safe, and this cold, barren underground room would turn out to be nothing more than a bad dream.

But the world didn't change.

The chains still bit into her skin. Her arms and legs still ached from being held apart. And the air remained thick with dread.

"Please… wake up," she whispered one last time, though there was no conviction left in her voice.

Seconds crawled into minutes, and the lingering hope drained from her expression. The terror rooted itself deep within her.

This wasn't a dream.

This was real.

And she was trapped here… helpless.

Desperation clawed at her thoughts as she forced herself to think, to piece together the fragments of memory she still had.

'Seiji-san… he left this morning with that tense look on his face, worried about the clan gathering. I didn't even get the chance to tell him what I needed to… Then Shisui-chan came downstairs, still half-asleep, and I was just about to help him brush his teeth when—'

The doorbell rang.

Kaede and Suzume. The two girls from down the street, ordinary civilians who lived only a few houses away. They had stood there smiling just a bit too calmly. And then…

Kaede and Suzume's eyes.

Three tomoe spinning into perfect focus, the full scarlet Sharingan staring back at her.

Kasumi's blood froze at the memory.

"Kaede-chan? Suzume-chan? They're not even kunoichi… How could they possess the Sharingan? And fully matured at that age?" Her voice trembled as she whispered into the empty room. "Why… why would they use it on me?"

She still couldn't make sense of why those two young girls would use a Sharingan on her… but the memory sparked a crucial realization.

'This must be a genjutsu.'

"Yes… That's it," she whispered to herself, clinging to the idea. "I was panicking for nothing…"

If this was only a Genjutsu, then she just needed to dispel it, and afterward, she would certainly have words for those two girls.

Fueled by a surge of anger, Kasumi tried again to channel her chakra, attempting to disrupt its flow and shatter the genjutsu holding her captive.

"Haaa…!" She strained again, harder this time.

But nothing happened.

Only the metallic clatter of unmoving chains and the echo of her own voice answered her, amplifying her helplessness.

"Hah… they must have used some extremely powerful genjutsu…" she muttered to herself, forcing out a shaky laugh. "I may be retired… but I'm still a trained kunoichi. They can't underestimate me that easily…"

Her breath wavered as she bit her lip, hoping the jolt of pain would snap her out of the Genjutsu. Pain was a viable method of breaking genjutsu… she knew that better than anyone and tried to use it to break out.

But even that failed.

The pain was real, yet the world didn't shift. The restraints didn't disappear. Nothing changed, nothing changed at all.

She kept trying, again and again, refusing to surrender to the panic pressing in on her chest. But the result never changed. She remained bound… powerless… mocked by the oppressive emptiness around her.

Gradually, frustration bled into fear, and tears stung her eyes. The truth crept in like ice.

"This… isn't a genjutsu…"

It wasn't a nightmare. It wasn't a Genjutsu, either.

It was real.

She was truly trapped here, held against her will in a place she didn't understand, with no idea what awaited her next.

Suddenly, she raised her voice, desperately calling out, "Kaede-chan! Suzume-chan! If this is some kind of prank… you've taken it way too far!"

Her voice wavered as she tried to bargain. "I-I promise I won't be angry… just let me go… please…"

"Kaede-chan…!!!"

"Suzume-chan…!!!"

She called their names again and again, but no reply came. Not a whisper. Not a footstep.

Just silence.

Finally, her composure cracked, and she screamed, "Please! Someone… anyone… help me!"

Her voice echoed harshly against the cold stone walls, unanswered and painfully hollow.

"Seiji-san…" she finally cried, fear cracking through her voice as she called out her husband's name, praying he would come and protect her.

And as if in response, the heavy metal door groaned open. Slow, measured footsteps echoed across the chamber floor. Kasumi's head snapped upward, hope instantly flaring within her chest.

"Seiji-san!" she called again, straining against the chains. 'Of course it would be him.' He had come the exact moment she called out; she even berated herself for not calling him sooner.

Relief rushed through her as she stammered, "Th-Thank goodness… I-I was starting to get r-really afraid—"

But her words died abruptly. The figure stepped into the torchlight, and it wasn't her husband.

Her breath caught. "P-Patriarch…?" she whispered, disbelief and dread swirling together as her heart plummeted.

It was Uchiha Kanzou, the Patriarch.

Not Uchiha Seiji, her husband.

Kanzou stepped forward calmly, his expression impossible to read as he greeted her, "Kasumi-san. I suppose it's good to see you as well."

"Patriarch… c-could you please release me?" Kasumi asked, doing her best to keep her voice steady. She desperately wanted to know why Kanzou was here and what any of this meant, but for now, her priority was simple: get free first. Everything else could come later.

"Release you?" Kanzou echoed, shaking his head lightly. "I'm afraid that isn't possible."

A chill crawled down her spine. "W-why… not?"

"Well," Kanzou replied casually, "Kaede and Suzume went to quite a lot of trouble to bring you all the way here without letting anyone see them, and more trouble in restraining you like this. It would be wasteful to undo all of their effort."

Kasumi's eyes widened. "Kaede-chan… Suzume-chan… acted on your orders?"

"Of course," Kanzou confirmed with a nod. "They brought you here because I ordered them to."

"This… this has to be some kind of joke, right?" Kasumi stammered, anger slipping into her voice despite her attempt to stay composed. "Why would you do this? What is the meaning of all this?"

She struggled to hold his gaze, needing answers, needing to understand why she was chained like a criminal in an unknown chamber.

It wasn't as though she had no idea why she might be restrained here… but she had been clinging to a fragile hope that her worst suspicion was wrong.

"The meaning of this?" Kanzou repeated, his tone deceptively light. "Isn't that something you should be explaining to me, Kasumi-san?" His expression softened into something almost pained, a wounded smile that made her stomach twist. "How could you do this to me?"

"W-what do you mean?" Kasumi's eyes widened. The hurt in his voice, the accusation, sent worry spiraling through her.

He stepped closer with each word, his shadow spreading across her until he stood directly before her. The softness vanished from his gaze, replaced by an icy edge. "How could you… even after realizing your husband intended to betray me… choose not to inform me of it?"

A tremor seized her entire body, the chains rattling with the force of it. She had suspected this was the reason, feared it, but hearing it spoken aloud struck like a blade to the heart.

Her throat tightened, but denial burst out instinctively. "B-Betray…? W-what are you talking about?"

"Haaah… so you're going to pretend you know nothing?" Kanzou exhaled, sounding more annoyed than angry. Before Kasumi could react—Cha!

His hand struck her across the face as the impact rang sharply through the chamber.

Her head whipped to the side, and a burning stung spread across her cheek as a bright red mark began to form. The sudden blow jerked her entire body; if not for the chains anchoring her in place, she would have collapsed to the floor.

Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes, blurring her vision. The pain reverberated through her skull, but she bit down hard on her lip, refusing to give him the satisfaction of hearing her cry out.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about, Patriarch…" she managed through trembling breaths.

"Fufu… as expected of you, Kasumi-san," Kanzou murmured, his tone sharp with mockery. "Even after retiring for over five years, that training not to give in to torture hasn't completely faded, has it?"

For a ninja, it's normal to undergo such training… Kasumi naturally must have gone through it at some point; thus, it would be difficult to break her… however, Kanzou wasn't worried…

He reached out and seized her chin, lifting her face until her tear-filled eyes were forced to meet his. The hold was unyielding and painful, deliberately so. He wanted her full attention, wanted her to understand the gravity of the moment, and he wanted her to feel the pressure of the situation she's in.

"But let's not waste time with this act," he continued, voice lowering, sharpened by accusation. "You expect me to believe that you, Seiji-san's own wife, were completely unaware of his little plans? Alongside Makoto-san… and that fool Fugaku?"

Kasumi's breath hitched. Her pulse hammered. "I… I truly don't know anything…" she whispered, even though the lie knotted painfully in her throat.

Kanzou's eyes narrowed. "There's no point in saying that."

His hand tightened more, enough to remind her she was at his mercy.

"Seiji-san is already detained in the next room. Whatever he planned is known to me," Kanzou said calmly, almost conversationally. "So lying won't help you. It won't protect him… or you."

Kasumi's heart pounded violently in her chest. 'Seiji-san… captured too?'

No. She didn't want to believe it, even as dread coiled tighter and tighter around her ribs.

Kanzou chuckled softly, as though amused by her denial. "You're wondering if I'm lying to trick you?" he mused. He released her chin and walked toward the wall. "Very well. Allow me to clear your doubts."

He pressed a hand against the stone. The Fuinjutsu sealing the sounds from other chambers was released and suddenly, the silence was shattered.

"Aaaahhh—! AAAAAHH!!"

Screams exploded into the chamber, raw and ragged, saturated in pure agony. Each wail tore through her like claws, scraping against every nerve.

Shaaa! A whip cracked sharply.

Thwack! Flesh struck.

"GGHHH—AAAAHH!!" The voice broke again and again, a suffering that had no end.

Kasumi's breath hitched. She knew that voice.

It was Seiji.

"No… no…" she whispered, panic flooding through her as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks.

"Seiji-san!" she cried, the chains rattling violently as she struggled against them. "Seiji-san!"

Her voice broke, but she kept calling his name, as if sheer will alone could bring him to her side.

As if her desperation could make this nightmare stop.

"Pointless," Kanzou said flatly. "He can't hear a thing. And even if he could… what do you think he could possibly do?"

Snorting, he snapped his fingers. The Fuinjutsu was closed again as the screams fell silent.

Only Kasumi's trembling breaths remained, echoing in the suffocating quiet.

Kanzou turned back to her, his eyes glinting coldly. "So? Are you still going to lie? Why don't you just admit the truth?" He stepped closer, lowering his voice to a chilling calm. "You knew your husband was planning to betray me. And you kept it to yourself. That makes you a traitor too… Kasumi-san."

"I… I…" Her voice faltered, strangled by fear and disbelief. She didn't want to betray Seiji, even if saying nothing had already damned her.

Kanzou observed her hesitation and tilted his head with a slow, almost pitying smile. "You should understand something. The more you lie… the worse this becomes for you." He paused, letting the weight of his words sink deep, before continuing: "You should learn from Makoto-san's wife. She volunteered to tell me everything her husband was planning. I'd say she is a smart woman, as she chose to save herself and what was important to her over sticking to blind loyalty to him who couldn't protect her and was planning something foolish…"

Whether Nashiko truly protected herself or anything precious to her was debatable. After all, she was now going to be used to breed the population that would be lost in the purge… that hardly sounded like salvation. And yet, compared to death, or the far worse consequences she would have faced had she refused, it was probably still the better outcome, right?

'N–Nashiko-san betrayed Makoto-san?'

The realization struck Kasumi like a blow, her eyes widening in disbelief. Nashiko, of all people, turning against her own husband? It felt impossible. Unthinkable. And yet… if she truly had betrayed him, then Seiji being captured the moment he went to meet Makoto suddenly made horrifying sense.

It also meant that Makoto had been captured… all because Nashiko chose to betray her own husband.

'How could she? Nashiko-san… how could you betray your husband like that?'

The very idea shattered every value Kasumi held as a wife, as a woman devoted to her family.

"Are you wondering why she betrayed him?" Kanzou's voice slid into her spiraling thoughts, catching them effortlessly. Without waiting for her to answer, he continued in a calm tone, "She did it to save her daughter, Mira-chan. If she hadn't done that… her daughter would have been whipped to death."

Kasumi's stomach twisted painfully. A sharp, icy fear surged through her chest as her thoughts flew straight to her own precious son… to Shisui…

Where was he?

What has Kanzou done to him?

"Ah… now you're worried about your son's whereabouts, aren't you?" Kanzou murmured, eyes glinting as if savoring her fear. "No need to panic. My subordinates brought him here as well. So your son is perfectly safe…"

The pause he inserted before that final word made 'safe' sound like a threat.

If he truly had Shisui, what kind of horrors was he suffering right now? Whipped? Broken? The mere thought shattered her inside.

"Don't worry," Kanzou said with a smirk. "As I mentioned, he is safe… for now." His voice dropped low as he whispered in a dangerous tone, "But how long he stays safe depends entirely on your willingness to cooperate."

Children were a parent's greatest weakness, especially a loving parent's, and he knew it. The fear for her precious son crushed what remained of her resolve.

"P-please… let Shisui-chan go," Kasumi begged, voice cracking. "H-he doesn't know anything… he has nothing to do with this…"

"Aha… so you do know something, isn't that right?" Kanzou murmured, eyes narrowing sharply.

Her face twisted with visible turmoil, fear, guilt, and desperation, all tangled together. Tears streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably. She didn't want to confess. She didn't want to betray her husband. She didn't want to break the vows she made.

But then Kanzou leaned closer, his voice a silken knife against her ear.

"If you refuse to speak… then I'll simply question your son instead," Kanzou said, his tone chillingly casual. "And since he likely knows nothing, as opposed to you, he wouldn't even be able to answer." A cold smile curved across his lips. "In that case, I would just have to whip him to death. Would you like that, Kasumi-san?"

Her heart shattered. "I… I only knew a little…" she choked out, voice trembling. "N-not much…"

"I'm listening," Kanzou replied calmly, folding his arms. His gaze never wavered because the specifics didn't matter, not to mention, he already knew everything from Makoto, so getting that information wasn't important at all. What mattered was the moment her resistance finally broke.

Sometime later, her voice hoarse and eyes swollen with tears, Kasumi finished. "I-I only knew this much… and I have told you everything… please… please let Shisui-chan go… h-he had nothing to do with his… he knew nothing…"

"Hmm? Let him go?" Kanzou tilted his head, as if the request were absurd. "Kasumi-san… surely you understand how this works." He spoke, shaking his head. "When someone betrays the Clan, their entire family pays the price. The only exception is when a family member comes forward first, as Nashiko-san did."

His eyes narrowed slightly, the faintest hint of amusement in them. "But you didn't. You remained silent… and that means everyone in Seiji-san's household must suffer the consequences."

He leaned closer, voice dropping to a cold whisper. "That includes little Shisui, of course."

Kasumi shook her head frantically, her sobs shaking the chains that held her upright. "Please… I beg you, Patriarch… he's just a child… he has nothing to do with any of this… If someone must be punished… let it be me. I will do anything... Please… just spare my son…"

"Anything?" Kanzou's brow arched, his interest sharpening. He grasped her chin firmly, tilting her face upward until she was forced to meet his gaze, those dark, abyss-like eyes that seemed to swallow all light and hope. "Are you saying you are willing to do anything to protect your son?"

Fear clamped around her heart, and she swallowed hard, trembling.

She didn't know what he would demand… what twisted cruelty he might force upon her… what danger he might compel her to face. But there was no choice. Her entire family was at Kanzou's mercy and would be slaughtered if she did nothing. If she had even the smallest chance to save her boy, she had to take it.

Her voice broke as she nodded, tears trailing down her cheeks. "I… I'll do anything… Please… just spare my son…"

"Well then… those were your words," Kanzou said with a cruel smile, a predator savoring the moment. He finally released her jaw. "I'll be back shortly."

He turned and exited, the gate closing with a heavy metallic slam.

Kasumi sagged forward, her body trembling, breaths shallow. Dread churned in her stomach.

Minutes crawled by like hours. Every second gnawed at her nerves, tightening the cold knot of fear in her chest.

Then—creak.

The gate swung open again.

Kasumi's head jerked up… and her eyes widened in horror.

Kanzou wasn't alone.

Two more figures entered behind him, one seated in a wheelchair… the other pushing it.

The man in the wheelchair… was none other than Seiji. And the one pushing him, Mikoto.

Kasumi's scream ripped out of her before she could think. "Seiji-san! Seiji-san!"

Seiji's head jerked toward her voice, his eyes bloodshot and burning with frantic rage. He strained against the restraints binding him to the chair, trying desperately to reach her. The chair rattled violently beneath him, but the gag stuffed in his mouth reduced his cries to muffled, agonized groans.

Kasumi's breath caught as she took in the full extent of his condition. He wore nothing but his undershorts, his entire body exposed, raw, and mutilated. Angry red welts covered him from shoulder to ankle, harsh whip marks split open to reveal torn muscle and blood-soaked skin. In several places, the flesh had been shredded so deeply that pale bone peeked through. Dried blood clung in dark trails down his limbs, still dripping faintly onto the stone floor beneath.

Her heart shattered, tears spilling faster down her cheeks. In that moment, she could only curse herself. If she had stopped Seiji… if she had begged him not to side with Fugaku… if she had convinced him not to even think of overthrowing Kanzou… then none of this would be happening. Seiji wouldn't be mutilated before her eyes, their son wouldn't be a hostage to Kanzou's whims, and she wouldn't be chained here.

But regret was useless now. What was done could not be undone. All she could do was endure the consequences of the choices that had already been made.

Her sobbing didn't matter to Kanzou. His soft chuckle echoed cruelly in the chamber as he stepped behind her. He glanced at Mikoto, who stood rigidly behind Seiji, making sure he could see everything about to transpire in the chamber.

It's just that her own gaze wavered; deep discomfort lurked in those eyes at the thought of another woman getting a taste of her husband, yet she said nothing. After all, this is what Kanzou intends to do… and on this occasion, he was doing this for her… even if she hated it, she could only accept it.

Kanzou leaned close to Kasumi's ear, his breath brushing her skin as he spoke, voice dripping with amusement. "Well then… You said you'd do anything." His lips curled into a sinister smile. "It's time for you to make good on that promise…"

Kasumi's blood ran cold. Her breathing hitched as she forced herself to speak, voice trembling uncontrollably. "P-Patriarch… w-what do you want me to do?"

"What I want from you is simple," Kanzou said, voice low and disturbingly calm. "I want you to scream and let Seiji-san hear exactly how much pain you're in when I fuck you. Understood?"

It took Kasumi a second to fully grasp what Kanzou had said, but by the time realization struck, it was already too late. From behind, his hands seized the fabric of her blouse and, with a violent tug, pulled it apart.

"Kyaaa—!" Kasumi's scream tore through the chamber walls, sharp and frantic, immediately followed by Seiji's desperate, muffled cries in response.
