He stood up to leave, and I faced off, not wanting conversations about my past.
I sensed his reluctance to leave me, as he had earlier said. His gaze lingered on me a while longer. "Maybe someday you will see how remorseful I'm about what went wrong between us."
"I hoped every day, Zade. I wished every day on the stars by my lonely, forbidden vampire creature self, that you would see me, that you would understand the conspiracy and hatred I faced in that forsaken house of the Falcons.
But you never saw me, you only heard her words, and you acted on it.
I felt like a stain in your perfect image that you were trying so hard to protect, and of course, I was a burden, the miserable sister of the chosen heiress of the Falcons.
You were popular then, and I didn't fit the aesthetics.
