In just thirty seconds later. Klein snapped as he felt a spiritual disturbance around him.
The light casted down by veiled lamp seemed to sway erratically.
Is there something wrong? Klein felt a cold sweat and he quickly inspected Selina, sleeping in his embrace.
Her eyelids were moving, and to his relief it fluttered open.
That was quick... Wait, sigh, I'm glad that was quick... Klein heaved a relief and asked her, "How was the first dream?"
While saying that, he kept on glancing Dunn and Persich right across.
"Mmm..." Selina required some time to recover from her stupor. But when her senses cleared, she found Klein's arm wrapped on her shoulder.
"..." She paused. Heat came over her face that made her involuntarily smile, "No, it's a simple dream of an old lady running an antique store. Some local proclaimed shaman likely used the artifact to cure her dread for her family.
"What about Captain? Is he awake?"
Klein shook his head and replied, "He's still exploring Persich's dream for traces of the divine light."
"I see..." Selina casted her gaze down and she saw her own body against Klein. She could hear his heartbeat thumping fast.
Klein's nervous? Hehe, I guess it's natural when you hold a lady... Unbeknownst to her, she let out a soft chuckle.
"W-What's the matter?" Klein was growing weary.
"Nothing." Selina simply answered. "Can I absorb more dream? I feel like I can learn more on this next one."
"You only have two tries left. After that, wait until we get to the third person on our list." said Klein before taking the veil out of the lamp and handing it to Selina.
He quickly turned away toward Dunn on the other side. Avoiding any chances of peaking.
After just ten seconds. He felt Selina's hand fell limply onto his chest, and the lamp almost fell from the bed.
Klein caught it in time, and after adjusting Selina's head, he placed the lamp back to its spot and veiled it quietly.
...
The brilliant blend of light receded from the darkness.
Selina woke up and found herself in a gray world, in front of her was a university. The place and the area where a wide body of river streamed from the other side feel familiar.
Khoy? Khoy University? Selina made an accurate judgement.
At this moment, she's now in the lens of a young man, who is clad in the standard attire imposed by the University. While seemed normal at first, the tattered darkness all across the environment made it hard not to be noticed.
Selina can't help but constantly glance at them. They look like omens... A sign of bad luck...
...Wait, don't tell me this is the 3-0137's description of a college student?
A voice of a female came from behind the dreamer.
"****!"
Seems like she's calling him... Though the words are static, through the signals of the woman, Selina guessed.
The girl arrived right next to her, or in this case next to the man. An enthusiastic smile was plastered on her face as they continued to enter the building.
At that moment, the colors blended and swirling once again, settling onto a scene where the man is no longer in his university attire, instead he wore a linen shirt and a jacket.
Held in his hand was a cloth doll wearing a regal dress. It had a sinister smile and based on how Selina felt the man's face, he's frustrated.
This doll... isn't this the Misfortune Cloth Puppet? she was shocked.
The scene resumed with the man selling the cloth puppet to a merchant at lower street, familiar but quite distinct as it reflects past years. The young man doesn't look like he had any intent and just wanted to rid of the doll.
"This should be enough..." for once, Selina heard the young man's voice.
Then the scene shifted again, to his sister coughing while playing wooden toys.
Cough! Cough! The girl heaved and exhaled, then went into smiling.
"I'm home..."
"****!" The girl clearly exclaimed her brother's name, but the static element of the dream made it hard for Selina to discern.
"Here are your medicines." Selina saw the vision lowered to the girl's level. Afterwards, the girl hugged her.
During that, another person walk over, a woman with frail body and fading complexion. Her hair was rugged, her face and eyes follows a creased lines of age.
"I'm sorry about your toy. It was made of material that sells quite a bit in the market." He said before turning to the mother. "I found a job."
As Selina saw this, the dark spots around grew. This family only had you, but you disappeared...
The scene transitioned immediately after. Now the young man was on the bed, right next to a man wearing fervent tunics and a hide wrapped around his head.
Selina had a terrible feeling as she saw the lenses of the man turning to another, younger man, who's wearing a similar university attire.
Is he a classmate of his?
As this thought fades, the shaman reached for something underneath the bed—another iron-gridded casing, containing a bright lit candle.
...
Beneath the shadows of the window light. Selina woke up to see Klein again, silently watching everyone tensely.
The college victim had came into contact with two sealed artifacts? What a cruel fate... Selina felt bitterness from the dream.
Noticing this, Klein immediately asked worriedly, "Some wrong? Did a dream do anything to you?"
"No..." Selina shook her head slowly and decided to tell him the second dream.
"That should be the dream of the victim from the description." Klein said reflectively. "Fate played a cruel game that made him contact two different Sealed Artifacts. Likely both of it are now in the Church's possession...
"Also, did you said each time you saw 3-0137 in the dream. You wake up?" He didn't thought of the college student much as the case was already concluded years ago.
Selina nodded and replied, "Mhm."
"Maybe it's a node that allows you to wake up from 3-0137's stored dreams." said Klein after considering the first time it occurred.
"That you should help you get out along with Mrs. White's help."
After that, Selina didn't wasted another time to vessel another dream.
...
This time, the dream presents an environment of a grand tapestry hall. Lofty and serene, like a banquet inside of a palace.
Selina felt like she was inside of a mansion, those depicted heavily in a gothic romance novels. Words failed to form as her lips parted faintly in revel.
Just as she pulled away and find what the dream's protagonist will be this time—a loud, deafening, and blood-curdling scream gripped her heart.
"Ahhhhh!"
A terrifying storm and white illusory flame swept everything.
The hall itself fractured, fissures are forming on the ground as the dream trembled.
Selina's was caught into the fire breath and the blinding storm. However, instantly and in a blink of an eye, she saw the meadow.
Cold wind bellowed from the east. Distant pastures and mural-like vines appeared from the grotesque floor that reverted to soil.
... Ah... Suddenly, her hands reached for her head.
Ahhh!
Selina buckled down and writhed in pain. No matter her desire to roll, the ground integrated beneath her refuse to budge.
Ahhh!
Another wind roared form afar. Flowers sprouted against her will and allowed their petals to leave their heads to storm Selina.
As she winced, her veins protruded from her pale skin. All of it connects and extends throughout the land.
Moments later. The luster in her eyes slowly returned. Selina finally got to breath normally but she remained fixated on the grass.
She needed to recover a bit more.
"...A storm..." Selina said in a low voice. "Dragon's breath... and flames...
"W-Was that a battle of beyonders?"
After a couple more seconds, she finally got to reclaim her composure. The mental collapsing and emotional outburst faded away completely.
"This dreamworld protected me again..." Selina swept her eyes around the surrounding pasture. She felt pensive.
"T-Those powers... they have the ability to destroy a foe's mental state, break them into losing control. They're too powerful to be placed in mid sequence.
"Wait, a Saint? A high-sequence Demigod battle of Saints held in a dream? 3-0137 Dreamcatcher is holding a remnant of a Demigod fight?" A nameless horror bloomed in Selina's heart.
She was in disbelief that she had just witnessed a High-Sequence battle. Nothing could even be compared to how she would imagine mid-sequence beyonders from seeing Nightmare Dunn!
"This could be it! Taking in 3-0137's stored dreams are undoubtedly very dangerous!" exclaimed Selina's voice that echoed in the unending meadow.
"I'll have to signal Klein to extract it from me."
Since her dreams to do not dissipated as long as she's asleep. Either being inside the dreamworld still keeps her as the vessel of the dream she's having.
This was demonstrated and realized during the time she reconstructed her dream of Morroy's basement.
With that said, Selina immediately went into controlling the seed that belonged to her.
...
Klein's spiritual intuition was triggered.
His gaze went from observing the faces of Selina, Dunn and Persich, and onto the veiled 3-0137. However, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.
It didn't moved nor became erratic, does this mean Selina is still in the dream? Klein thought and he quickly set his eyes back to the sleeping Selina.
At that moment, he noticed that a spot of her coat was squirming and wriggling, almost as if there's a worm in the pocket.
A thin, bark wooded vine slipped out.
Klein instantly became tensed. This meant that she found a dangerous dream!
He quickly looked at her face, and she sweating profusely. Immediately, without wasting any time. He fished out a hollowed turquois seed and match from the compartment of his coat.
Then, after lighting the tip of the seed and placing closer that Selina inhales the smoke. He began chanting in Jotun:
"I!"
The smoke bellowing from the seed suddenly had a color—a fading green.
Klein then switched and resumed with Hermes:
"Implore in my name:
"The power of this divine vessel...
"Relinquish the boundary of Selina's Astral body and dream...
"Let the smoke bridge the way and embed the ashen into yourself..."
The first chant made extracts the spirituality within the seed, the second allowed Klein, under Cogitation to sense the smoke creating a bridge toward an unknown place.
...
Inside the dreamworld, where Selina currently stood to adjust her state of mind more.
Her body jolted and she hitched.
I couldn't control the seed anymore? She felt a ghost limb disappeared.
...
Finally, once the incantations are done. Klein suddenly saw colors traveling down the smoke using his Spirit Vision.
This must the dream...
The colors are erratic, symbolizing that the dream is under intense pressure. Following that, the light underneath the veiled lamp burgeoned and dimmed visibly.
He watched intently while tightening his hold of Selina.
The smoke was filled with color in a matter of seconds. To which it faded into the seed not long. The hollowed spot of it that allows for containing suddenly lit up—creating what seems to be a gem, a jade!
Once he felt that the process is done. Klein quickly put out the fire on the seed, placed 3-0137 back into its briefcase and used one hand to dispel the wall of Spirituality he created.
He refused to place Selina down as he finish cleaning up, fearing it might break his word earlier.
Returning back to sat on the other bunkbed. He took out his pocket watch and looked at the time.
Only one minute left... He made sure to double check his coin divination. Securing the result before going back to monitor everyone.
However, in the moment, Klein's gaze suddenly fell onto the jaded seed. A doubt and consideration washed him.
I wasn't aware it could do this... He raised the seed closer.
Klein's initial plan was to forge a jade vessel, a plate, to use the seed's power. Of course at this point, the seed had truly become just a mere vessel, where once the content is taken, its spirituality will vanish.
However, there's also a penalty. Transferring a high spirituality holding a dream is far riskier than using the high spirituality to receive a dream. So lowering its potency is a must.
But if I use the seed as the charm's base instead. I won't have to go into trouble of another ritual... Although Klein's mind is occupied with the amount of pounds he could save. He didn't failed to wipe Selina's face with his handkerchief.
Soon, he realized she was waking up.
