The men driving the truck slowly switched off their lights. However, as they approached, they finally caught sight of a figure standing in the middle of the road from a distance.
"Boss," the man behind the wheel called, turning to the guy riding shotgun. "What do you think?"
"She's just standing there," one of the men at the back commented, barely able to see Lola's expression with the headlights off. "Either she's brave… or just stupid."
Silence fell inside the truck, its pace slowing even further as if they were weighing their options. After a second, the man riding in the front leaned back.
"If she's good money, we'll need her alive," one man said. "If not, I bet she's still going to be worth quite a bit for that body… or whatever good is inside her."
Hearing that, the men glanced at one another and exchanged low chuckles. But their confidence didn't last long, because just moments later, all they saw was Lola sprinting straight toward them.
