Chapter 6 - 302

"Shang Jiudi! What are you doing here?!"

An Ze rushed over excitedly, grinning like a dog wagging its tail to welcome its master. His eyes shamelessly roamed all over Shang Jiudi's body.

What a top-tier beauty! And her status was so noble—the youngest female Major General in all of China!

After stepping out of the helicopter, Shang Jiudi ignored everyone, including Ding Siyao from Tiger Fang. When An Ze came running over with that sleazy smile, she completely disregarded him, brushing straight past without even a glance, heading directly toward Chu Han at the far end of the street.

An Ze stood there with an awkward expression plastered on his face, his hand still frozen in the air where he had wanted to help her down. Then his face instantly changed. Thick-skinned as ever, he hurried after her, chattering nonstop: "Major General Shang, why did you come all the way here? Watch your step—the ground's filthy!"

Shang Jiudi still didn't say a word. She simply stopped five meters away from Chu Han.

Everyone was stunned. What the hell was going on?

An Ze quickly seized the chance and spoke up with a laugh: "Heh, Major General Shang, this person called Chu Han has defied military orders. Since both of us, Major Generals, are here, we might as well execute him on the spot. He even dared to threaten me, a Major General! This guy's too arrogant; he can't be left alive."

Hearing An Ze's words, the soldiers behind them all showed clear disdain. Especially Ding Siyao, who knew far more than anyone else. He couldn't be bothered to tell An Ze that Chu Han had once beheaded a Major General right in front of Old General Wen Qisheng!

But just because Ding Siyao stayed silent didn't mean Shang Jiudi would.

The woman lightly raised her eyes, a cold glint flashing through them: "Major General? Defied orders?"

An Ze's eyes lit up. He thought Shang Jiudi was angry—after all, she had grown up in the military. He nodded eagerly: "Exactly! Chu Han actually dared to defy my command!"

The moment those words left his mouth, every soldier who had come with the helicopters frowned deeply. Honestly, Chu Han's behavior just now really was enough for An Ze to kill him on the spot. In the apocalypse, human lives were worthless—especiallyfor some nobody without any official rank.

Ding Siyao's eyes turned icy. Even now, An Ze still wanted to make trouble for Chu Han?

Li Yi and Wei An looked worried, their gazes fixed on the group of real soldiers. These weren't the fake troops from inside Chenxing. Chu Han had just clashed with a Major General—what were they supposed to do now?

Just as everyone's minds were racing with different thoughts, Shang Jiudi spoke coldly: "Who the hell do you think you are?"

Who the hell do you think you are…?

The sudden twist left everyone stunned. Before An Ze could even react, Shang Jiudi continued: "Chu Han once beheaded a Major General right in front of Old General Wen Qisheng. Without the old general here, you can try it yourself—see if he'll chop your head off too."

Clack! An Ze's jaw nearly hit the ground. Wen Qisheng? Chu Han had dared to kill a Major General in front of Wen Qisheng—and even beheaded him?!

An Ze was completely frozen in shock, standing there like a statue. The rest of the soldiers were equally dumbfounded. Honestly, not many people knew about this. Although the top brass in the military thought highly of Chu Han, he had never officially received a rank, so some matters were never made public.

The most shocked were Li Yi and Wei An. They knew Chu Han was domineering and insanely strong, but they had no idea he had done something this earth-shattering. Too badass!

And after killing that Major General… nothing had happened to him? Unbelievable!

Shang Jiudi ignored the stunned looks and gasps around her. Her eyes were locked on Chu Han, who was still kneeling straight ahead. He hadn't turned around even once. His back was straight yet carried an overwhelming sense of exhaustion. His torn clothes were soaked in blood. This was the first time in all the time she had known Chu Han that she had ever seen him look so battered and wretched.

The man she loved—the man whose pride would never allow anyone to trample it—was now kneeling on the ground before a woman, letting go of everything. All he left Shang Jiudi with was a heart-wrenching view of his back.

Click… click…

Her military boots stepped across the ground with crisp, clear sounds. She walked toward Chu Han step by step, getting closer and closer.

Everyone instantly panicked—especially the soldiers. Quite a few of them rushed forward without thinking, wanting to pull Shang Jiudi back. Earlier,r An Ze had done the same and had nearly been chopped in half by Chu Han's axe. If anything happened to Shang Jiudi—the goddess in so many people's hearts—what would they do?

An Ze's hair stood on end the moment Shang Jiudi got close to Chu Han. He suddenly shouted in terror: "Shang Jiudi, come back!"

But right in front of everyone's horrified eyes, Shang Jiudi's footsteps suddenly stopped extremely close to Chu Han. She stood slightly behind him and to his right. Then, under the gaze of everyone who was shocked beyond words, she bent both knees—

Thud!

She knelt without the slightest hesitation, right beside Chu Han, kneeling before Yuan Xiye just like he was.

The scene left the soldiers' eyes bulging. Even Li Yi and Wei An were stunned speechless. The youngest female Major General in China… was actually kneeling before Chu Han's mother?

Why?!

"Shang Jiudi, have you lost your mind?" Ding Siyao was the only one who didn't hold back. He asked directly: "Chu Han is kneeling for his mother—what are you kneeling for?"

Yeah! What are you kneeling for?

No one could understand. It was completely incomprehensible!

Shang Jiudi slightly turned her gaze, glancing at Chu Han's profile. Her voice was calm and matter-of-fact: "I'm kneeling before my mother-in-law."

Her mother-in-law lay there, life or death unknown. As the daughter-in-law, it was only right to pay her respects. Kneeling for her mother-in-law was perfectly natural.

"M-mother-in-law?" An Ze was utterly stupefied. What did Shang Jiudi mean by that?

Ding Siyao was stunned for a few seconds as well. His eyes darted back and forth between Shang Jiudi and Chu Han. Then an indescribable shock exploded inside him. Who was Shang Jiudi? Even though she was still only a reserve member of Wolf Fang, it was still a "Fang" team! Plus, because she had successfully escorted Luo Xiaoxiao back to the capital, she had been specially granted the rank of Major General. Among all the special organization members, she was the only one who had received the rank ahead of schedule—and the only one openly known as both a team member and a Major General.

Her special status was obvious!

Yet this woman, whom every female soldier envied and every male soldier adored, had actually willingly thrown herself at Chu Han?

And she seemed to have snuck here to An Luo City without telling anyone—just to find Chu Han?

The jealousy in the other soldiers' hearts was even stronger. Their goddess had been claimed by Chu Han… and Chu Han hadn't even said a single word. She had done it willingly!

An Ze's face turned as ugly as if he had swallowed shit. No one knew better than him how hard it was to pursue Shang Jiudi. This woman might be called a stunning seductress, but her heart was every bit as cold as the ice beauty Bai Yun'er—both were extremely difficult, ruthless types. Add in her connections with Luo Xiaoxiao and Young Master Chen, and it was already hard just to get a word in with her.

Yet such a noble, high-ranking female Major General… had actually given her heart to Chu Han?!
