Chapter 250: Harassing Mikoto
"This is the information we received from Kumogakure. Hurry up, organize it, and figure out how to use it to launch a counterattack against Iwagakure."
Sasuke threw a scroll of information into Shikaku's hands. He was about to complain about the workload, but upon seeing the content, he was stunned.
"Iwa spies raided Kumo and wreaked havoc? The Eight-Tails went berserk? Kumo suffered heavy losses, and the Iwa and Kumo armies clashed in the Land of Frost..."
He read with growing interest, but later, doubts assailed him. "Could this Iwa 'earthquake' really be responsible? Sasuke-sama, your absence during this time doesn't mean you were involved in this, does it?"
"Shikaku-chan, do you think I should kill someone to silence them?" Sasuke's face darkened, a chilling aura emanating from his body.
Nara Shikaku shook his head violently. "Sasuke-sama, no, I don't know anything."
"Good, this is a godsend. Eat more, or you'll stop saying things you shouldn't."
"Thank you, Sasuke-sama!" Shikaku quickly accepted the money for his silence.
A new group of mobilized Konoha troops finally arrived at the Land of Grass front. Sasuke took the opportunity to lead the expanded mobile support force in a tentative attack against Iwagakure's defenses. They unexpectedly opted for a full retreat, withdrawing into the Tobino Mountains. Clearly, the unexpected advance of Kumo into the Land of Frost had forced them to reinforce their defenses.
Sasuke felt slightly disappointed; it seemed his strategy of diverting the conflict had not worked as expected. Consequently, the two armies became locked in a stalemate, with numerous patrols deployed to form a defense that stretched for hundreds of kilometers.
Sasuke visited the attached hospital to see the wounded when he saw an imposing figure.
"Mikoto," he said in a calm voice as he approached.
Uchiha Mikoto stiffened imperceptibly and then saluted respectfully, but a subtle hint of caution persisted in her eyes. "Sasuke-sama." She instinctively clutched her clipboard to her chest, like a barrier. While the time they had spent together had made her acknowledge his formidable prowess, the initial impression that he was a pervert, added to the trauma of their previous physical contact, prevented her from fully relaxing.
"How are the wounded?" he asked, oblivious to her guard, his gaze scrutinizing the clipboard.
"Most have recovered, and the four serious ones are stable," she replied.
"Yes, your chakra control has improved, and your healing techniques work well." His gaze settled on her fingers.
Mikoto was stunned. A faint blush crept onto her cheeks. She tried to suppress the strange sense of recognition she felt.
"Keep it up!" Sasuke encouraged her and left.
Mikoto felt a void in her heart.
After a few days, an urgent order from Konoha's leadership arrived. Sasuke unrolled the scroll and frowned. It turned out that Takigakure, a Konoha ally, was heavily blocked by the Hidden Mist Village. He was ordered to lead the mobile support force to the Land of Mountains and support them.
"The Hidden Mist Village in the Land of Mountains?" Sasuke frowned. It was a village famous for its arms production, which had always served as a support force for Iwagakure. He didn't expect them to possess such strength, capable of withstanding Takigakure's attacks.
