Chapter 259: Antidote Serum
"Watch out for Chiyo's poison."
Akimichi Chōza's voice grew weaker and weaker, and he fell back into a coma. The medical ninja rushed to check on him and, after a moment, breathed a sigh of relief, "It's just a temporary coma, but the toxin has already invaded his internal organs. If an antidote is not developed quickly, I'm afraid..."
Sasuke nodded and began to report on the battle situation. The more he read, the more his brow furrowed. The situation on the Land of Rivers front was worse than he had imagined. After Dan's sacrifice, Konoha had lost its main combat power against the Sand Ninja puppet army. Orochimaru's whereabouts were unknown. Tsunade and Jiraiya were still on the front line of the Land of Rain, fighting against the Sand Village led by Chiyo. Now, Ebizō had obtained the new poison developed by Chiyo, the "Purple Scorpion." Tsunade had not developed an antidote for a long time, and Chōza had also collapsed. All in all, the situation was desperate.
The entire Land of Rivers front was leaderless, and morale was low. If not for Sakumo's decisive moment, which stabilized the situation, Ebizō would have already led the Sunagakure army into the heart of the Land of Fire.
The most lethal poison was the new poison developed by Chiyo, the Purple Scorpion. It was not only extremely toxic, but the existing antidotes were surprisingly ineffective. More than three hundred Konoha ninjas had been poisoned, and the medical team was still helpless.
"Order!" Sasuke closed the scroll and spoke firmly. "Immediately summon all the medical ninjas who can still function. I need to know more about this poison. Also, strengthen the security outside the camp. The Sunagakure ninjas might take advantage of our weakness."
Shikaku, acting as secretary, quickly took out his small notebook and jotted down the order.
"Send a message to Shun, have him patrol the entire Shinano River defense line; send a message to Ye, have him scout the movements of the Sand ninjas; send a message to Aoi, have him count our available medical supplies..."
Orders were issued one after another, and the Konoha camp began to get organized. After delegating much of the logistical work to the capable Shikaku, Sasuke finally arrived at the medical isolation area and began to attend to the wounded.
"Water Style: Water Healing Technique!"
Channeling Samehada's chakra, Sasuke became a one-man medical team. Instantly, a vast range of blue water rings enveloped each wounded soldier with pinpoint accuracy. The blue chakra stream seeped into the bodies of the wounded, fiercely combating the toxins. Mikoto, no longer wary of Sasuke, stood there, her Sharingan fully activated, closely observing the detoxification progress.
Gradually, the purple lines on the skin of some of the less severely injured began to fade, and their breathing stabilized. Mikoto quickly stepped forward to check and was pleasantly surprised. "It's amazing!" a flash of admiration shone in her eyes.
"This is just a temporary measure; it only temporarily suppresses the toxins and cannot completely purify them." After suppressing the injuries of all the wounded, Sasuke was not optimistic. "We must develop an antidote as soon as possible, and we cannot pin all our hopes on Tsunade."
"This purple scorpion poison is a biological protease poison extracted from desert scorpions. Although it is highly toxic, it should not be difficult to develop an antidote serum."
Then, Sasuke quickly summoned Shirotaka, "Shirotaka, I need your help." The hawk tilted its head, its golden eyes blinking. As a high-level summoned beast that lived in the desert and fed on poisonous scorpions, its resistance to poison was rare in the ninja world.
For the next few days, Sasuke worked almost tirelessly, proposing to get a sample of the Purple Scorpion toxin, diluting it, and slowly injecting it into Shirotaka's body. Each time it recovered from the poisoning, he increased the dosage and toxicity to stimulate its immune system, and then drew a small amount of blood to isolate the antibodies.
At dawn on the fourth day, Sasuke had finally isolated an effective antibody protein serum from the last batch of Shirotaka's blood. He quickly combined it with a basic antidote to create the first batch of experimental antidotes. Everyone held their breath as they injected the first dose into a dying Konoha ninja.
A few minutes later, a miracle happened. The purple lines on the patient's skin began to fade, and his breathing gradually stabilized.
"It works! It really works!" The ninjas present cheered in amazement.
The news spread like wildfire through the camp, and Sasuke immediately organized a team to mass-produce the antidote, prioritizing the seriously ill. In just one day, nearly a hundred previously doomed Konoha ninjas were brought back from the dead.
"Sasuke-sama..." a revived chuunin exclaimed with overwhelming emotion. "I thought I was doomed. Thank you so much."
"Tarō, rest well. Konoha still needs you," Sasuke visited each wounded soldier one by one, even memorizing their names, earning the deep respect of the Konoha ninjas for their deputy commander.
Once the antidote was deployed on a large scale, the situation began to change on the Land of Rivers front. With morale high, the Konoha ninjas reorganized an effective defense.
Inside the front-line camp, Ebizō looked at the intelligence scroll in disbelief. "Impossible, absolutely impossible!" he asked, his voice cracking, "How could my sister's purple scorpion poison be neutralized in such a short time?"
The Sand Ninja advisors in the tent were silent, not daring to answer. A gas-masked sand ninja cautiously stepped forward, "Sir, the information is confirmed. The Konoha camp began distributing a large-scale blue potion this morning. Our spies witnessed the symptoms of the poisoned Konoha ninjas being significantly relieved after taking the medicine."
"Who is it?" Ebizō suddenly slammed the table and stood up. "This is the poison of the high-level summoned beast, the red scorpion. It is a complex neurotoxin. Even if Tsunade comes in person, it will take ten days to half a month to develop an antidote!"
"It's Umino Sasuke!" the young officer lowered his head and replied softly.
"Umino Sasuke!" The name was like a sharp knife piercing Ebizō's chest. His expression instantly contorted, and he gritted his teeth. "It's this White-Blooded Demon again!"
