Chapter 257: Guerrilla Tactics
With Sasuke constantly fanning the flames, the bitter rivalry between Iwagakure and Kumogakure was like a powder keg, ready to explode at any moment.
The Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, had only ordered a probing attack, but Iwa's frontline troops, driven by their resentment and unable to vent their anger on Konoha, launched a fierce assault on Kumo's defenses. Meanwhile, the insulting rumors of "cowards" and "brute force" fueled the Kumogakure ninjas' anger. Skirmishes turned into large-scale, violent clashes.

"What do we do?" Yeshan hesitated.
He tried to unleash the Vacuum Ball, but Sasuke stopped him. "Retreat! Execute Route C!" he ordered decisively. Simultaneously, channeling chakra from Samehada, he unleashed an A-level Water Style jutsu. "Water Style: Great Waterfall Jutsu!"
A torrent of water rushed down, intercepting Iwa's pursuit. Roshi quickly unleashed his Lava Style to stop the attack. "Water Style: Mist Jutsu!" Sasuke's clones, using the steam, unleashed a vast mist that enveloped the area.
Roshi was extremely powerful, but he no longer dared to underestimate the enemy. The strength of that white-blooded demon was good, but that Uchiha jonin's illusion had a strong inhibitory effect on the Jinchuriki. And that "watermelon skin" nearly killed him with a kick last time.
"Another Hidden Mist Technique, damn it!" Roshi roared, furious, but he could only slowly clear the mist and watched as Sasuke's troops escaped.

He had once considered taking the Daimyo's mansion directly, but the last time he led thousands of troops, he only advanced halfway before the traps killed hundreds of his men. By the time he arrived, it had long been deserted. After capturing it, he fell into an infernal trap. Tens of thousands of invisible explosive talismans, created by the Hidden Mist Village, exploded simultaneously, leveling the entire prefecture. The Iwa army was practically annihilated.
Now, Roshi had reorganized the army and launched a new offensive, advancing slowly and steadily. This seemingly foolish tactic proved remarkably effective. With less than a hundred casualties, he once again advanced towards the prefecture, while Sasuke's forces began to retreat towards the Hidden Mist Village.
"Lord Roshi, our objective has been achieved. Should we retreat to the northern passes?" Iwa's military advisor suggested. It would be better to retreat to secure the logistical supply to the Land of Frost front.
Roshi, reluctantly, gave the order. With his support, the supply lines were finally re-established. Thus, both sides entered a stalemate.
Just as Sasuke was expecting the outbreak of war between Iwa and Kumo, an urgent transfer order arrived. It turned out that a serious problem had arisen on the Land of Rivers front. While Kato Dan was performing the Spiritualization Technique, he was discovered by numerous Sunagakure puppet users. Before his soul could return, his body was destroyed, and Konoha lost a powerful combat force.
