The night air was crisp.
The wind cutting through my hair, the moment I pushed the door open. If I were still human, a shiver would've run down my spine. Instead, I only stretched my arms out, letting the sharp cold brush over my fingers as I stood in the middle of the cracked pavement.
The scent of rust, damp concrete and smoke clinging to the air. The familiar perfume of what was left of the city. It was the small I had grown used to, ever since I moved here for my studies.
I was so young then. Naive enough to believe that I could save my father with just my research, along with the others who had fallen victim to the addiction of vampire venom. I never imagined that I'd end up becoming one of the creatures capable of creating more of these victims.
"Come on," I called over my shoulder, pushing away my thoughts before it turned sad.
