Lily POV
I stood frozen outside Nathan's office door, my hand raised to knock but unable to make my knuckles connect with the polished wood.
My heart was hammering so loudly in my chest that I was certain anyone passing by in the hallway could hear it. The embarrassment was so overwhelming that I genuinely wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole, saving me from having to face what I'd done.
This morning had been a blur of confusion and mortification. I'd woken up in my own bed at home, wearing clothes that definitely weren't mine – a soft cotton shirt that smelled like expensive cologne and masculine soap. Emma, my personal maid, had been hovering anxiously by my bedside, her face creased with worry.
"Miss Lily," she'd said gently when I finally stirred, "you're home safe. Beta Liam and Alpha Kai brought you back early this morning."
