Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Between Two Worlds

Kaira's song never ends.

There are no tears rolling down her cheeks,

but in her voice lives a thousand-year story,

a thousand-year sorrow,

and one nameless promise.

As the melody escapes her throat,

something trembles inside Kaira's chest.

A strange pain—yet somehow, deeply familiar.

The moment she closes her eyes—

The scene changes.

She's inside a deep, ancient water-palace.

A grand palace built beneath the sea.

Towers of coral, chandeliers of pearl,

and all around her, countless mermaids are singing.

Before her, on a golden throne, sits a woman—

clad in a shimmering silver veil, with sorrowful grace in her eyes.

Her voice is soft, yet strong.

> "My little Kaira...

When you sing, the entire ocean pauses.

One day, this melody will bring you back…

And then you'll know—

you are not just a Havfrue,

You are the one we once called Ava'kiira—

The Heart of the Sea."

A small, childlike Kaira rests her head in the woman's lap.

The woman runs her fingers gently through her hair.

> "If you ever get lost… remember the song.

Only that melody will bring you back to yourself…"

A single tear—like a pearl—slips from the woman's eye,

and quietly dissolves into the water.

---

Present, in the depths of the sea…

Kaira opens her eyes.

Her breath is heavy.

She doesn't look down, but upward—

toward the place where light cannot reach.

And yet, she feels…

somewhere above, a mother is still watching over her.

A name escapes her lips, softly—

> "Ava'kiira…"

Maya is still watching, unmoving.

In her eyes: awe and reverence.

> "You… you're the girl?

The one they fought a war for?

The one whose voice held both the fire and the sea?"

Tears in Kaira's eyes.

> "I don't know who I am…

But the song—it was always inside me.

Now I understand—it's not just a song…

It's my blood."

In that deep underwater kingdom,

blue light and silence shimmer as one.

Maya slowly moves toward Kaira.

But before she can reach out,

Kaira extends her hand.

She holds Maya's hand.

Her gaze is trembling, but her face is firm.

Her body gleams with a golden-red tail,

her hair floats like violet light—

but in her voice is the song of this very world.

> "Maya…"

She slowly rests her head against Maya's chest and whispers—

> "I'm a girl from Bangladesh… My mother raised me alone.

She used to say—'There's something different in your eyes.'

I'd laugh… I thought she was just overly imaginative.

But now I wonder…

Was she really my mother?"

Tears glimmer in her eyes.

Yet she speaks on—

> "Or… was she the Queen of the Water?

I don't know, Maya.

I don't know who I am.

I just know—she always told me…

'Not every call is meant for the ears…

Some calls are meant for the soul.'"

Maya is silent.

Her eyes slowly well up.

She pulls Kaira into a deeper embrace.

> "If only you knew, Kaira…

how your mother crossed storms and enemies to send you to the land.

Then you'd understand—

You are the heir to both worlds.

On one side, the soil of the Earth…

And on the other, the Heart of the Sea."

Kaira's eyes widen.

> "Then… am I really…?"

Maya places her lips gently on Kaira's forehead.

> "You are the bridge, Kaira.

Through you, a new era will begin.

You are the daughter of Earth's soil…

And the Queen of the Water Realm."

At that moment, Kaira stands before an eternal truth.

She does not fall apart—instead, she strengthens from within.

She knows now, she's not just a Havfrue…

She is a chosen soul—

Woven with history, music, and legacy.

---

In the stillness of the night, the two draw closer.

Kaira says softly,

"I have a job tomorrow, so I need to go now."

But suddenly, Maya whispers, placing a kiss on her cheek—

> "I'll come with you tonight.

Let's just stay together a little while longer.

Take me home."

Kaira smiles warmly, an unusual gentleness in her eyes.

> "Come on, let's go."

They walk into the night, hand in hand,

as if a new chapter is beginning—

where time and space will lose all meaning.

---

As Maya steps into Kaira's home, she stumbles slightly.

It's as if the ground weighs her down—

as if Earth itself is too heavy for her feet.

She slowly walks to the balcony.

Her gaze freezes toward the ocean—

that water, which was once her realm,

now feels so far away, so deep below.

Kaira steps out freshened, with a playful smile.

> "You've lived underwater all your life, Maya.

Now you'll need to get used to land!

I've always lived above ground!"

Maya looks at her, tired eyes softening.

A faint smile dances on her lips.

> "Water is gentle, Kaira.

Earth… is hard."

Kaira stands beside her.

> "Yes… but Earth teaches you how to stand tall."

They fall silent.

The sea is far,

but another river flows within them—

a relationship, a journey,

just beginning.

---

Kaira had left the balcony door slightly open.

The night breeze quietly enters the room—

cool, soft, with a hint of the sea's scent.

Maya slowly walks closer to Kaira.

The moonlight catches in her golden hair,

making it shimmer like fire.

And her eyes—like molten gold—are strangely calm.

Kaira looks at her.

Between them, a deep silence falls.

> A silence, heavier than sound.

Kaira's hair is unusually long—falling far below her waist.

Maya's hair flows down her back like waves of the ocean.

In that moment,

light rain begins to fall outside.

A gust of wind…

And both their hair lifts and intertwines—

strands dancing together,

as if the bond between land and sea has found its rhythm.

Maya whispers as she steps closer—

> "Your hair carries the song of the sea…

And the scent of the earth."

Kaira says nothing.

Her eyes do not tear up,

but something trembles within her—

as if a rebirth is near.

They stand, close together,

in silence—

but a conversation flows deep within their hearts.

---

In the silence, only the sound of wind could be heard.

Maya slowly moves closer.

Her eyes hold infinite depth—

as if she can read the waves inside Kaira's soul.

She tilts her head slightly,

gently bringing her lips near Kaira's…

Her breath brushes Kaira's cheek.

Kaira doesn't flinch.

There's no surprise in her eyes—only calm,

as if she had always known this moment would come.

Maya's lips softly graze the edge of Kaira's.

Then Kaira leans in—

slowly, gently, without hesitation.

Their lips meet in a deep touch—

a kiss,

wordless,

but an eternal song playing inside their hearts.

In that moment, time seems to stop.

The sea freezes in mid-wave.

And the Earth falls silent in a single breath.

They are only aware of each other—

no words,

yet becoming each other's truth.

---

The night grows deeper.

Outside, the rain has stopped,

but inside, the air is filled with a strange warmth.

Kaira stands by the window.

Maya approaches from behind and places a hand on her shoulder.

She says nothing,

just breathes—

her breath brushing gently against Kaira's neck.

Kaira slowly turns around.

Their eyes meet—

silent, unlearned, but incredibly true.

Maya cups Kaira's face with gentle hands.

No distance remains between them.

A soft kiss…

Then another…

Then…

All sounds vanish.

The lights dim,

as if a veil has fallen over the scene.

Hair spills across the bed,

the air filled with a soft, sweet fragrance.

A breath stops,

another begins…

No words.

Just old rain marks on the windowpane,

and a faint warmth at the edge of the pillow.

The world pauses for a moment—

where only they exist…

Like the union of Earth and Sea.

Wordless,

yet inevitable.

---

The room remains dim,

lit only by a sliver of moonlight through the window.

Suddenly, Maya lifts Kaira's hand into hers.

Gently… carefully… as if touching a flower.

She places a soft kiss on the back of Kaira's hand.

> "A little more…" — Maya whispers,

but the sound rises from deep within her chest.

Kaira's eyes fill with tears.
