The holidays began that very same day Aaron Kingsley had joined the academy.
Elijah's spirit wasn't exactly pleasant that day. The shadow of his past still clung to him, and the incident with that child molester only deepened the gloom.
If not for Alexei's constant presence, he might have tumbled down into that familiar dark spiral.
The very next day, the redhead fluttered away to say goodbye to his family. This time, he didn't invite Elijah, already aware of his response.
"Go ahead and take these with you. For your little sister," Elijah said, handing Alexei a big airtight box filled with cookies.
"No. Why does she get to eat your cookies? You don't even know her."
Elijah stared at the almost empty glass jar, which was filled to the brim with cookies just a few days ago.
He would only eat one or two pieces with his evening tea. As for where the rest went, it was evident enough.
"I am giving it to her because Sonya is your sister. And you already ate your share."
