"I ask again, what do you mean by they won't live? What did they do, Elena?" Her lower lip moves violently, but no words come out.
I can see the fear clearly in her eyes, like those words slipped out by mistake. She blinks continually and starts biting her nails.
"Elena, I won't ask you again." I clutch the end of her shirt. "What's going on?"
"Uhm... uhhh, who doesn't know Hope is on the top list of people Kaleb wants to end? Josie made her way to that list as well, and we both know Kaleb never misses."
I scoff, letting go of her already rumpled collar. "Kaleb is literally obsessed with Hope. If this is about you getting a chance to warm his bed... well, maybe you would. But being that woman to him? It's definitely not happening — not even in your nearest fucked-up life."
"What exactly has Hope given you to earn her loyalty, Lizzie? You should stick with me... I—"
