"Hahaha!"
"This is it! Nothing relieves stress like this!"
Bang! Bang!
With that, the tall officer fired two more shots, cleanly shattering the girl's limbs.
"Here, finish her off."
As if playing a game, he handed the gun to his partner. "We're almost off duty. Any plans for tonight?"
"Nope."
"Want to grab a drink?"
"Sure."
Calmly taking the gun, the second officer aimed at the girl's head. "I've killed plenty of these, but their bodies still gross me out."
"Yeah."
The tall officer glared at the girl's body, still slowly regenerating despite her injuries, his eyes filled with venom.
"Die, you filthy monster."
The second officer's lips curled into a smirk.
As the tall officer said, shooting these disgusting red-eyed monsters was oddly relaxing.
Bang!
In the final second, as the bullet left the chamber, the nameless girl's heart turned cold.
The next moment, her mind roared, and the world spun.
A fatal wound for a normal human, yet the Cursed Child clung to life.
But with a bullet in her head, brain matter spilling out, her regeneration... far weaker than a true Gastrea's... sealed her fate.
'Am I going to die?'
In her final moments, what did she think of?
Her starving companions in the outer district, or her hatred for this wretched world?
'Whatever. It doesn't matter.'
She was dying... what was there to say?
'Do you seek salvation?'
'Pray in your heart, and I will hear.'
That strange voice again. She remembered hearing it earlier.
Back then, her focus was on the convenience store and the cashier, ignoring it completely.
But now, the voice echoed again.
Not in her ears, but in her soul.
"Hah... hah..."
She could no longer form words.
With her brain damaged, she couldn't even think to beg for help, only feeling life slip away as darkness closed in.
"Still not dead?"
Seeing her twitching in a pool of blood, the armed officer aimed at her eyes.
But just as he pulled the trigger, the girl vanished.
"What..."
The officer's pupils shrank.
His partner looked like he'd seen a ghost. "Gone! What happened?!"
Unconcerned with the panicking officers, the girl with the shattered head appeared before Damien.
This was a garden within the castle, where Damien stood, watching Cursed Children arrive under the guidance of artificial angels.
By his side were Hiyori and other girls.
After a period of joy, they'd begun helping the angel sisters under Hiyori's lead.
New children were confused.
Hiyori explained, telling them of Damien's divine identity.
But in a mere moment, she saw the girl lying in a pool of blood.
"Ah!!"
Hiyori gasped, more worried than scared. "What happened to her?"
"Ash-chan!! It's Ash-chan!!!"
Hiyori's sister recognized the dying girl.
All Cursed Children in Tokyo's outer district, they often banded together to survive.
They never expected to see her again in such a state.
"Has this world's cruelty sunk to this level?"
From the girl, Damien saw her recent ordeal.
Stealing food from a convenience store would, in human society, warrant a mere scolding.
But Ash-chan paid with her life.
"Kami-nii~~"
The little girls gathered around, their eyes pleading, hoping he could do something.
"Don't worry."
Damien patted Hiyori's head. "I'll save her."
With that, his fingers danced in the air, an invisible force enveloping the girl.
In a one-meter radius around her, everything rewound as if time itself reversed.
"So amazing..."
Hiyori and the others gaped at the unbelievable scene.
"There."
Having saved Ash-chan, Damien handed her to Hiyori. "She'll wake soon. Take good care of her."
"Yes, Kami-nii!"
Hiyori and the others, overjoyed, thanked Damien and took Ash-chan to bathe and change.
"I can't comprehend this... he can even do that?"
Among the crowd, Enju Aihara, freshly bathed and in new clothes, was still reeling from Damien's miracles.
Her worldview had been shattered by these relentless shocks.
"That's a god..."
Tina's expression shed its former apathy, now tinged with fervor as she gazed at Damien.
"Hm?"
Noticing their stares, Damien turned, letting out a surprised "Oh?"
Though all Cursed Children were adorable, perhaps due to familiarity, he paid extra attention to those from the anime.
Spotting Enju and Tina, he grew excited. "Hello there."
"Uh..."
"Hello, Kami-sama."
"Thank you for saving me!"
Enju, nervous, expressed her gratitude loudly.
"Me too."
Tina added, "What can I do for you, Kami-sama?"
"I'll do anything."
"Nothing needed."
Damien shook his head, beckoning them closer and patting their heads.
Tina and Enju didn't resist.
As he stroked their heads, they soon showed expressions of bliss.
'Hmph!'
Damien was confident in his head-patting technique. 'My head pats are irresistible to mere girls!'
