Chapter 12- Serendipity Inn (12)

The chance to ask for information was basically being spoon fed to him but he's still keeping his mouth shut

She was starting to think this was a waste of time, she should've just made the brother doll leave after giving him the payment

But she was just too kindhearted, making the doll stay to satisfy this man; that's rude and hypocritical

Aside from being an angel with a heart of gold the reason she's still here is to pretend to be an important NPC

Making an effort to satisfy the players request as much as possible; only then would they be more convinced that she was on their side, making it easier to gain their trust

It was only Clyde now but she sought to satisfy more players later

Her appearance although useful and could make her take shortcuts, but it isn't always the case

Sometimes a beautiful shell would invite others malice and angst, bringing out the worst in people

"Are you local here?"

Clyde suddenly broke the silence

"Somewhat, I was born here but I grew up elsewhere, I only recently returned"

"Has there been any strange events that happened here?"

"If you're talking about anything that's supernatural then no, the only odd things in this town is the serial dissapearance of homeless people and orphans"

"Serial dissapearance?"

"Yeah, it always happened in a specific time targetting the less fortunate"

"Specific time? When?"

"Monday evening, it's hard to estimate exactly when since it would take some time for people to notice if some beggar on the street suddenly dissapeared, but from the investigations the victims dissapeared between 8-10 pm"

"Then... has anybody found anything strange in that inn?"

"'That inn'? You mean Serendipity Inn?"

Deceo paused, while Elaine chuckled

In fact there was indeed a million things strange in the inn

The beautiful garden that seemed to be housing some beast, the limited number of staff, the receptionist blatantly slacking off, the rooms inside a locked room she found while wandering around at night, the chef who made the food and the guest but

Could Clyde be asking this?

He entered the game 3 days prior, could he have missed something so obvious?, so what's he's asking isn't that

It's-

"The inn has it's own farm that rears their own meat, they source most of their goods from there"

-about the information that only 'locals' would know

"It's just a 2 hour drive past the scenic river, the elderly couple who owns the inn usually stay at the farm"

An information gathered by my 'Plastic Family'

Elaine got out just in time to see an aggressive scar faced man falling off the stairs

"..."

It's truly an eventful morning

"Are you trying to die Laura! How dare a bitch like you push me off the stairs! Have you finally lost it?"

"N-no it wasn't me!"

"You're the only one here and you're denying it?"

"It's not me, I swear!"

"Then who the fuck is it if it's not you? Could a ghost could have done it? Are you fucking insane?"

"No wait! Really it's not me!"

A vein popped in Chris' temples from sheer anger.

He had been feeling agitated lately, he had found a possible clue in the basement but he hadn't been able to crack it.

Moreover he had noticed that Glen, Chris and even the weak-ass chicken Laura had been all to more or less found some clues that could solve the main quest.

But his progress hadn't budged from 23%.

If others solved the mystery before him and submitted their answers, he would fail this dungeon.

He had died in the dungeon previous to his previous dungeon and his soul trauma hadn't completely healed.

If he failed and received the penalty, he would be struck stupid by the punishment unless he seeked the Soul Priest.

But that bastard...

No, he refused!

No way! He'd rather die!

"Shut up woman!"

"I don't know what schemes you're trying to pull and I don't care, just don't try to pull me in or you'd find out the consequences"

He spoke through gritted teeth.

This woman Laura looked like a weak piece of shit most of the time but he had seen her sneaking around doing god knows what.

This type of women who loves pretending to be helpless are the most adept at using lies.

He had never let down his guard.

And without warning, he struck her abdomen.

Laura keeled over holding on to her stomach, a bit of saliva had came out of her mouth from the impact

This guy is no gentleman to the fairer sex

Chris sneered and gave a kick to her leg, causing her to tumble over and fall

Chris showed no mercy, he had known that in these dungeons, a woman can be sometimes be much crueler than men, the more they appear gentle and weak, the more their stabs hurt

Trying to appeal to men and women alike, using their innocent faces to trick you into thinking they were harmless, it was one of the most common deception he had encountered in these dungeons

And he had paid the price more than he should have, he had learned his lesson

He turned back and looked at the woman enjoying the show not far from where he stood

Leaning against the railing, she looked at him with amusement

She was beautiful but that expression of schadenfreude was irritating, she gave him a smile before walking away leaving him with the view of the back of her head.

He had heard about her

He was the woman that Clyde had brought back from the forest and the one that treated Mark's wound, he had seen her from his window when she approached that bespectacled nerd under the tree and led him inside the inn

There is definitely something strange about that woman

He was gonna watch out for her tricks as well.
