The kitchen felt empty after Lucian left.

The realization sent a chill down my spine that had nothing to do with the cool night air drifting through the open windows. Lucian wasn't just half-vampire in name. He was struggling with vampire instincts. Vampire needs.

And I'd been standing there pressed against him, my pulse point mere inches from his mouth, completely oblivious to the internal war he'd been fighting.
